CS-340 Series Water Filter
Installation and Instruction Manual

Read, understand, and follow all safety information containedin these instructions prior to installation and use of the 3M™Water Filtration Products
Model CS-340 Series. Retain these instructionsfor future reference.
Intended use:
The 3M™Water Filtration Products Model CS-340 Series for 1/4" NPT x 1/4" fitting or compression fittings. The system is intended for use in filtering potable
water for food service equipment and has not been evaluated for other uses. The system is intended for indoor installations and must be installed by qualified
professional installer according to these installation instructions. You can also count on your filter to reduce the problem of lime and scaling (CS-341 and
CS-343 only) and also to help extend the life of your equipment.
Installer: Please leave this manual with owner/operator.
End User: Please retain for operation and futuremaintenance instructions.
EXPLANATION OF SIGNAL WORD CONSEQUENCES

To reduce the risk associated with ingestion of contaminants.
•Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
WARNING
To reduce the risk associated with property damage due to water leakage:
•Read and follow use instructions before installation and use of this system;
•Installation mustcomply with existingstate andlocal plumbing codes;
•Protect filter from freezing.Drain filter when room temperature drops below 40° F (4.4° C);
•Do notinstall onhot water supply lines. Install on cold waterlines only. maximum temperature100°F(38°C);
•Do not install if water pressure exceeds 120 psi (827kPa). If your water pressure exceeds 80 psi (552 kPa) you mustinstall a pressure limitingvalve. Contact
a plumbing professional if you are uncertain how to check yourwater pressure;
•Do not use wicking or sealer for fittingconnections. Use Plumber's Tape for connections;
•Do not install where water hammer conditionsmay occur. If water hammer conditionsexist, youmust install a water hammer arrester:Contact plumbing professionalif you
are uncertain how to check for this condition;
•Mount system in such a position as to prevent it from being struck by other items used in the area of installation (waste baskets, etc.)
•Do not install near waterpipes which will be in the path of a drilling tool when selecting the position thebracket;
•The disposable filter cartridge must be replaced every six months, at the rated capacity or sooner if a noticeable reduction in flow rate occurs.
CAUTION
•Failure to follow instructionswill void warranty;
•Install with the inlet and outlet ports as labeled. Make sure not to reverse connections.
•Do not use acid base sealers or wicking on plastic filter.
• Do not use torches or other heat sources near plastic plumbing, as damage may occur;
• Take care when using pliers or pipe wrenches to tighten plastic fittings, as damage may occur;
• On plastic fittings, use thread sealing tape only. Never use pipe sealant or pipe dope on plastic fittings, as damage may occur;
• Do not install this system in direct sunlight.

Procedure for Installing CS-340 Series Water Filter
Before starting, close shut-off valve on cold water line.
Note: 1/4" NPT x 1/4" compression fittings are required for installation (not included). Other fittings may be required depending on installation.
For use on 1/4" copper or plastic tubing.
Step 1. Shut-off your water source.
Step 2. Locate an easily accessible section of tubing. Shut-off valve must be on inlet side of filter. Cut and remove a 6" section of tubing making
sure ends are cut square.
Step 3. Unscrew nuts from compression fittings (not included) and slip nuts and ferrules over tubing end. If your tubing is plastic install the tube
inserts into ends of tube (see Figure 2).
Step 4. Tape threads with Plumber's Tape and thread 1/4" NPT x 1/4" compression fittings into both ends of filter.
Step 5. Install filter by tightening compression nuts onto the compression fittings.
Step 6. Turn onwater source. Due to air and carbon fines water may initially run cloudy but will clear. Flush in accordance with Performance Data Sheet
or Flush Instruction Card..
CAUTION: The disposable filter cartridge must be replaced every six months, at the rated capacity or sooner if a noticeable reduction in flow rate occurs.

3M™Water Filtration Products
Seller warrants its equipment against defects in workmanship and material (excluding disposable filter cartridge(s)) for a period of 1 year from date
of shipment from the factory under normal use and service and otherwise when such equipment is used in accordance with instructions furnished
by Seller and for purposes disclosed in writing at the time of purchase, if any. The disposable filter cartridge is warranted from defects in material
and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. Any unauthorized alteration or modification of the equipment by Buyer will
void this warranty. Seller’s liability under this warranty shall be limited to the replacement or repair, F.O.B. point of manufacture, of any defective
equipment or part which, having been returned to the factory, transportation charges prepaid, has been inspected and determined by the Seller to
be defective. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AS TO DESCRIPTION, QUALITY,
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE, OR ANY OTHER MATTER. Under no circumstances shall Seller be liable to
Buyer or any third party for any loss of profits or other direct or indirect costs, expenses, losses or consequential damages arising out of or as a
result of any defects in or failure of its products or any part or parts thereof or arising out of or as a result of parts or components incorporated in
Seller’s equipment but not supplied by the Seller.
