1 Introduction
This chapter describes the contents of CAP 501.
1.1 Contents
1.1.1 Software
Categorization of the software:
Base System Kernel software, additional base tools and services,
providing a framework for the object types and tools.
RED 500 Support RED 500 object types and the RED Relay Tool for
parameterization of RED 500 series relays.
SPACOM Support SPACOM object type and the SPA Relay Tool for
parameterization of SPACOM series relays.
DR-Collector Tool DR-Collector Tool for working with the disturbance
recorders.
Documentation CAP 501 documentation in PDF format and an installer for
installing the Acrobat®1 Reader (version 3.01) from Adobe
Corporation. The Acrobat Reader is needed to view the
documentation.
This ategorization is also present as installation options in the CAP 501 installation
application.

2 Requirements
This chapter describes the requirements for installing the CAP 501 software.
2.1 CAP 501 requirements
CAP 501 v. 2.0.0 sets the following hardware and software requirements on the PC.
Notice also the kernel-related dependencies, explained in section 3.1.6.
2.1.1 Software requirements
Table 3 lists the software requirements set by CAP 501.

Operating system Microsoft®2Windows NT®34.0 Workstation. It is
recommended to have the Service Pack 5 installed.
Network Windows NT Network software installed with at least one
network protocol (e.g. TCP/IP).
