1 GENERAL INFORMATION
The Familio Pro digital video interphone system is designed to be used for single-family and multi-
family solutions, where transmission of a video signal accompanied by an audio signal is required. The system
also allows one to establish internal connections (intercom) between monitors. The system topology is based
on Ethernet twisted pair cable, category 5e. The dedicated, energy-saving switched-mode power supply unit is
equipped with an integrated video splitter: input for the exchange unit and 3 monitor outputs.
The panel has got up to 3 independent call buttons. However, it can support a higher number of
monitors assigned to the same button (address). It is also capable of reading proximity keycards and access
badges, which allows the doors to be easily opened directly from the panel. In the versions with a coded lock,
doors can additionally be opened by means of individual four digit codes.
The housing is made of stainless steel, which ensures effective protection against devastation and the impact
of atmospheric factors. It is easy to operate, functional and easy to install. The integrated camera is equipped
with infrared LEDs (emitting light invisible to the eye), which allows users to get a video image after dark,
without dazzling the interlocutor. The camera heating-up system ensures good visibility in any atmospheric
conditions and prevents the lens from getting misted over and it allows the system to operate in low
temperatures.
The video monitor has got a modern look and its totally flat front side is made of glass. The
implemented speakerphone system eliminates the need to use a telephone receiver to communicate. The front
panel is fitted with a tactile keyboard with backlit icons used to operate the monitor.
An optional (I/O) extension module allows the system to support an additional call button (e.g. a
doorbell) and a relay output (that can be used, for instance, to control an additional gate).

3 OPERATION
3.1 Establishing ommuni ation from the panel
In order to establish communication, press the call button on the panel. If the called monitor is in the
system, it will start to ring (the call lasts for 45 s). Otherwise, the panel will generate a "busy" signal. During a
call to a monitor, it is possible to temporarily mute the ring by touching the – icon.
To receive a call, touch the telephone re eiver icon. In the conversation mode, volume can be
adjusted with + and – icons. If a conversation is totally muted (the volume bar grayed out), the microphone in
the monitor is switched off as well. An established connection can last up to 4 minutes. After this period, it is
terminated.
The monitor has the function of signalling an unreceived call from the panel. In case a call from the
panel is not received, the monitor icon will blink. The signal is cancelled by touching the icon.
3.2 Use of odes and proximity key ards
In order to open the door (usually by activating the electric strike), the user should key in a correct code on the
numeric keyboard or bring a proximity keycard close to the bottom field with a surname.
It is easiest to manage codes and keycards with the Family PRO computer application. The following codes
are factory-set:
 bottom button: ,
second button from the bottom: 2222,
 third button from the bottom: 3333,
administrator's code: 4444.
If the key button is pressed before code keying, an additional device is activated, e.g. a gate (a special PRO-
I/O module is required).
Attention! It is recommended to change all the codes, once the Panel has been installed.
The user can modify codes from the panel in the following manner: Introduce the current code. Then, during
.5 second, press and hold the "key" button, until (after about 4 s) the panel will issue a single sound. Then,
introduce the new four-digit code. The panel will confirm with a sequence of three sound that it has been
accepted.
By default, no proximity keycard is defined to be supported by the panel. To add keycards from the panel, one
should run the procedure of restoring factory settings for codes and cards or use a "master" card (detailed
description in chapter: 3.9 Restoring factory-defined codes and adding/deleting keycards).
If the key button is pressed before a proximity keycard is brought close to the device, an additional device is
activated, e.g. a gate (a special PRO-I/O module is required). If a non-registered keycard is brought close to
the device, the panel will generate a sequence of three sound signals.

3.4 Sele ting a onne tion with other monitors (inter om) or with the Panel
It is possible to establish an internal connection between monitors (intercom), when the line is not busy
(the central diode of the volume bar does not blink).
In order to establish a connection, touch the telephone re eiver icon; then, select the monitor to be
connected with + or -, according to table 3. and touch the telephone re eiver icon again.
If a device with the selected address is present in the system, the monitor will start calling it. In case the
selected number is missing, the monitor will generate a "busy" signal. The display is not switched on in the
intercom mode. In order to receive a call, proceed by analogy to the procedure described in section 3. .
Attention! If a call is received from the panel during an intercom conversation, the internal connection is
terminated and the called monitor starts calling in the panel call mode.
In order to establish a connection with the panel, the user should touch the telephone re eiver icon during
preview; the audio signal will get connected in the panel and monitor.

3.5 Opening the door and preview ontrol
The door is opened (typically by activating the electric strike) once the key icon is touched. The preview
is switched on, once the monitor icon is touched. Both functions are available on condition that other users
are not receiving calls.
The monitor allows the user to configure the so-called auto-open function. This functionality allows the
door to be opened automatically. It can be activated, for instance, during office hours or in the case of a party,
so that any monitor call with active auto-open option will open the door. The auto-open function is activated by
holding the key icon for at least 5 s.
It is also possible to permanently switch the preview on (max. 60 minutes) by touching the monitor
icon for at least 5 s. The preview is switched off during calls from other monitors.
Activation of additional functions is confirmed with five sound signals ("bips") in a quick succession and
accompanied with brightening of the monitor or telephone re eiver icons. The functions are deactivated by
analogy to their activation
3.6 Bus status signalling
The "busy" status of the bus is indicated on the monitor with blinking central diode of the volume bar.
The bus is busy, when a call is being received by another monitor.
In case the line is busy, it is impossible to establish an intercom connection, to switch the preview on or to
activate the electric strike. It is only possible to control the I/O module.
A bus error that prevents proper operation of the system (no communication with other system
components) is signalled with simultaneous blinking of the icons: telephone re eiver, key and monitor. In
this state, it is possible only to activate the preview from the panel camera. It is impossible to activate the
electric strike, control the I/O module or establish a connection.
3.7 PRO - I/O module
The PRO – I/O module is an optional extension module that extends the system with an relay output
and a NO input to call specific monitors. The switchable NC/NO input contacts operate in the monostable or
bistable mode.
The module can be used, for instance, to control another gate or lighting, as well as in the function of a
doorbell from an entrance that is not fitted with a panel.
Called monitors switch the preview on and the key icon blinks for 0 s. To switch the relay, touch the F2 icon.
In the monostable mode configuration, touching the F2 icon results in switching the relay on for about 4 s,
which is confirmed with a sound signal in the monitor and with switching the PK ON diode on in the module. In
the bistable mode configuration, the relay is switched on after touching the F2 icon, which is confirmed with a
single sound signal. Switching it off is done by analogy and confirmed with a sequence of three sound signals.
The relay may also be controlled from the panel: if the key button is pressed before a code is keyed in or a
proximity keycard is used.
I/O functions are programmed with the switches located in the module, according to table 3.2.

3.8 Conne ting the panel to a omputer and panel onfiguration with the Familio PRO
appli ation
In order to connect the panel to a PC computer and configure it with the Familio PRO application, the optional
CDN-USB cable should be used. The free application should be downloaded from the address:
www.aco.com.pl.
Before running the application, one should first of all install CDN-USB cable controllers, downloaded from
www.aco.comp.pl (Attention! For the Windows system to correctly install the controllers, the cable should be
connected to the USB port of the computer at least once after their installation).
It is recommended to power the panel only directly from the CDN-USB cable (no power pack connected to the
panel). In such case, the panel does not light up, neither does it generate sounds. It only communicates with
the PC.
When connecting the panel, one should connect the panel to the CDN-USB cable and then the cable to the
computer.
Familio PRO is operated in an intuitive way, so it does not require detailed explanation.
In order to read/write parameters from/on the panel, it is necessary to provide the correct password (factory-
set password: "000"*). Before introducing any changes into the settings, it is important to always read all the
settings from the panel first and save them to a file, in order to get a back-up copy of all the data. When
running the application for the first time, all the displayed parameters are factory-set parameters. Therefore,
when the "Save to panel" button is pressed in this case, the panel gets reset to factory settings and keycards
are removed.
The user can do the following by means of the application:
add, remove proximity keycards,
change opening codes,
set the opening activation time (time when the door is open)
configure the output type: normal – for classical electric strikes (voltage is applied to the output during door
opening), or reverse – for reverse-action electric strikes (the output is de-energised during door opening)
set output control: pulse (for electric strikes) or constant (for a relay)
set the delay for the activation of the INPUT contact for external door opening
block the restoration of factory-defined codes and keycards
set the password to block communication with a PC*
*ATTENTION The password should be changed reasonably in special cases, as it is impossible to recover or
reset a lost password. In such case, one should contact ACO servicing department and deliver the panel with
the purchase-confirming document to the department.
Panel software update:
In order to update the panel software (internal processor firmware), one should download the "Faimlio PRO
firmware update" tool and follow the instructions displayed on the computer screen. The same CDN-USB
cable should be used to perform the update operation. The cable controllers should be properly installed on

the computer. It is absolutely necessary to prepare a back-up copy of the panel settings by means of the
Familio PRO application (as described above).
3.9 Restoring fa tory-defined odes and adding/deleting key ards
It is possible to restore factory-defined opening codes and add/delete proximity keycards if "Block restoration
of factory-defined codes and keycards" option is not enabled (by means of the PC application). To do this,
switch the panel power supply off, wait 5 seconds, press the call button corresponding to the flat, which an
ascribed code and cards are to be restored/deleted, switch the panel power supply on, hold the button, until
the panel issues a long continuous sound. After this operation, the panel will start to generate a fast
intermittent sound signal, which means that it has restored the factory-set code and entered the keycard
adding procedure (while deleting all the keycards that could have been ascribed before). If a keycard is
applied to the bottom surname field, when this sound is being issued (it lasts about 5 seconds), the panel will
start to open the door, which means that the first keycard (master) has been correctly read and recorded. If
another unregistered card is applied during 5 seconds after door opening, the panel will issue a short double
sound signal – the next keycard has been correctly read and registered (if the keycard is held against the field
for too long, the panel will start to open the door again). After that, one can register further keycards. Up to 0
keycards can be ascribed to one flat (button). To finish the keycard registration process, wait 5 seconds or
press the "#" button. The keycard registration procedure will get terminated. It is possible to restore the code
and delete/add cards corresponding to the administrative account only with the PC application.
Adding keycards y means of the "master" keycard:
Every first keycard that is added to a particular flat and administrative account has the status of the "master"
card that can be used to add further cards. To do this, open the door with the master card and apply an
unregistered card to the field during 5 seconds after the door was opened. The panel will start to open the door
again, which means the next keycard has been correctly read and registered. The procedure is analogous to
the one described above.
4 SYSTEM CONNECTION AND ASSEMBLY
It is recommended to use Ethernet twisted pair cable (UTP, at least category 5e) for system cabling, and to use
at least .5 mm2 conductors to supply power to the electric strike, while keeping the distances indicated in Fig.
4. .

Notes:
) The distance specified for cat 5e can be increased by increasing conductor cross-section area (e.g. cat 6e or by adding
a thicker conductor for the Line, GND and +DC signals). In order to connect the panel at the distance exceeding 00m,
one should implement an additional power-supply unit (e.g. DR-45- 5), connected directly to the Panel.
2) UTP Cat 5e twisted pair is required to ensure correct video signal transmission. The visual signal can get distorted if
other cable types are used.
3) Power supply for the electric strike (if required) – no power-supply unit dedicated to support the electric strike
)2)3) If conductors used to connect the system differ from the recommended ones or the distances exceed the specified
values, system installation is still possible, yet one should perform a test connection of the set and check, if the entire

The wiring of the video interphone system (especially the audio/video signal condutors) should not run in close
vicinity of other installations (power-supply, telecommunication, alarm system lines), as the proximity may have
an adverse impact on the system operation.
The RJ45 jack should be crimped according to standard T568B. The signals on particular lines are presented
in Fig. 4.2.
Before switching the power on, one should ensure that all the connections have een made in
compliance with the diagram, that RJ45 plugs are correctly crimped and that there are not short-
circuits etween ca le conductors.
