Advantech warrants the original purchaser that each of its products will be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply to any products that have been repaired or altered by
persons other than repair personnel authorized by Advantech, or products that have
been subject to misuse, abuse, accident, or improper installation. Advantech
assumes no liability under the terms of this warranty as a consequence of such
events.
Because of Advantech’s high quality-control standards and rigorous testing, most
customers never need to use our repair service. If an Advantech product is defective,
it will be repaired or replaced at no charge during the warranty period. For out-of-war-
ranty repairs, you will be billed according to the cost of replacement materials, ser-
vice time and freight. Please consult your dealer for more details.
If you believe your product is defective, follow the steps outlined below.
1. Collect all the information about the problem encountered. (For example, CPU
speed, Advantech products used, and other hardware and software used.) Note
anything abnormal and list any onscreen messages displayed when the prob-
lem occurs.
2. Call your dealer and describe the problem. Please have your manual, product,
and any relevant information readily available.
3. If your product is diagnosed as defective, obtain a return merchandize authori-
zation (RMA) number from your dealer. This allows us to process your return
more quickly.
4. Carefully pack the defective product, a completed Repair and Replacement
Order Card, and a proof of purchase date (such as a photocopy of your sales
receipt) into a shippable container. Products returned without a proof of pur-
chase date are not eligible for warranty service.
5. Write the RMA number clearly on the outside of the package and ship the pack-
age prepaid to your dealer.

Safety Instructions
1. Read these safety instructions carefully.
2. Retain this user manual for future reference.
3. Disconnect the equipment from all power outlets before cleaning. Use only a
damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or spray detergents.
4. For pluggable equipment, the power outlet socket must be located near the
equipment and easily accessible.
5. Protect the equipment from humidity.
6. Place the equipment on a reliable surface during installation. Dropping or letting
the equipment fall may cause damage.
7. The openings on the enclosure are for air convection. Protect the equipment
from overheating. Do not cover the openings.
8. Ensure that the power source voltage is correct before connecting the equip-
ment to a power outlet.
9. Position the power cord away from high-traffic areas. Do not place anything over
the power cord.
10. All cautions and warnings on the equipment should be noted.
11. If the equipment is not used for a long time, disconnect it from the power source
to avoid damage from transient overvoltage.
12. Never pour liquid into an opening. This may cause fire or electrical shock.
13. Never open the equipment. For safety reasons, the equipment should be
opened only by qualified service personnel.
14. If one of the following occurs, have the equipment checked by qualified service
personnel:
–The power cord or plug is damaged.
–Liquid has penetrated the equipment.
–The equipment has been exposed to moisture.
–The equipment is malfunctioning, or does not operate according to the user
manual.
–The equipment has been dropped and damaged.
–The equipment has obvious signs of breakage.
15. Do not leave this equipment in an environment where the storage temperature
fluctuates below -40 °C or above 85 °C as this may cause damage. The equip-
ment should be stored in a controlled environment.

Safety Precautions - Static Electricity
Follow these simple precautions to protect yourself from harm and the products from
damage.
To avoid electrical shock, always disconnect the power from the PC chassis
before manual handling. Do not touch any components on the CPU card or
other cards while the PC is powered on.
Disconnect the power before implementing any configuration changes. The sud-
den rush of power after connecting a jumper or installing a card may damage
sensitive electronic components.
Battery Information
Batteries, battery packs, and accumulators should not be disposed of as unsorted
household waste. Please use the public collection system to return/recycle batteries,
battery packs, and accumulators in compliance with the local regulations.
Warning! Batteries are at risk of exploding if incorrectly replaced. Replace only
with same or equivalent type as recommended by the manufacturer.
Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.

1.1 Introduction
The IPPC-6152A/6172A/6192A is an industrial panel PC equipped with a Gen 4
Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3 processor, high-speed DDR3 memory (up to 32 GB), and two
PCI expansion slots. The processor combined with an Intel® Q87 chipset provide a
platform for the Intel® AMT 9.0 vPro management support system, offering remote
out-of-band manageability, improved security, and energy-efficient performance. The
panel PC also features two SATA 2.0 and 3.0 hard drive interfaces that support RAID
0 and RAID 1 to ensure data security. The flat-sealed front panel design allows liquid
run off for easy cleaning and maintenance. Furthermore, the panel PC can be cus-
tomized with additional features, such as a CFast port, PCI/PCIe slot, or DVD-ROM,
according to specific application requirements.
Robust Structure
The IPPC-6152A/6172A/6192A panel PC features a solid structure to ensure reliable
operation. The front panel is made from aluminum and strengthened glass, and is
shock resistant and IP65 rated for protection from water and dust ingress.
High Performance
IPPC-6152A/6172A/6192A features an Intel® 1150P socket that supports a Gen 4
Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3 processor (up to 3.1 GHz).
Easy Operation
The IPPC-6152A/6172A/6192A series systems are equipped with a 15/17/19" LCD
(with LED backlight) that supports high-resolution images and features touch control
for easy operation. To further increase the ease of use, the systems are designed
with a front-facing USB port and reset key for rapid access. .

2.1 General
Please follow the procedures below to set up the device.
1. Check and adjust jumpers on the motherboard (see Chapter 3)
2. Install DDR3 SDRAM
3. Install a CPU
4. Install add-on cards
5. Connect the wires, cables, and accessories
6. Mount the computer
7. Adjust the BIOS settings
8. Install an operating system.
2.1.1 PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard
The panel PC can be equipped with a full-size keyboard and PS/2 mouse, simply fol-
low the instructions below.
1. Power off the panel PC.
2. Attach the keyboard adapter to the 5-pin purple port at the bottom of the rear
cover.
3. Attach the mouse adapter to the 5-pin green port at the bottom of the rear cover.
2.1.2 VGA Port
An external VGA-compatible device may be connected to the system via the 15-pin
external port at the rear of the unit. The panel PC can support an additional external
monitor.
2.1.3 Serial COM Ports
The panel PC can be equipped with serial devices, such as an external modem or
mouse. Simply follow the instructions provided below.
1. Ensure that the panel PC and any connected peripheral devices are powered
off.
2. Connect the interface cable of the serial device to the serial port of the panel
PC. If necessary, attach the other end of the interface cable to the serial device.
Fasten any retaining screws.
3. Power on any connected peripheral devices before powering on the panel PC.
4. Refer to the manual(s) accompanying the serial device(s) for instructions on
how to configure the operating environment to recognize the device(s).
5. Run the BIOS setup program to set the I/O address and IRQ, and configure the
jumper settings to change the COM port mode (refer to Section 3.1.2).
Warning! 1. Power off the device and unplug the power cord before opening the
device or touching any of the internal components.
2. The motherboard is composed of many delicate integrated circuits,
chips, and other components that can be easily damaged by static
shock.
When installing components
- Avoid touching the metal parts of the motherboard
- Use an anti-static ring when handling the CPU or SDRAM module
- Place the CPU and SDRAM module inside an anti-static bag before
installation

2.1.4 USB Ports
The panel PC can be equipped with an external USB device via the USB ports
located at the rear of the unit.
1. Connect the external device to the panel PC.
2. The USB ports support hot swapping. However, the device driver must be
installed before the device is operable.
2.1.5 Audio Port
The panel PC’s Audio port comprises two plug holes for Mic In and Line Out.
Mic In: Records sound using external microphones.
Line Out: Output sound signal to external devices (e.g., speaker or headset).
Even when external audio devices are connected, the internal speaker is not
disabled.
1. Connect audio devices to the panel PC.
2. Install device drivers before using the audio devices.
2.1.6 Ethernet
The panel PC can be equipped with Ethernet, simply follow the instructions below.
1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the panel PC.
2. Power on the panel PC.
3. Run the Ethernet driver to allow the system to connect to the network.
2.1.7 DP Port
The panel PC features a DisplayPort for high connectivity.
2.1.8 DVI Port
The panel PC features a DVI port for high connectivity.
2.1.9 GPIO Port
Reserved for user configuration. See Appendix A.1 for details.
2.1.10 PCI Ports
The panel PC provides two PCI ports for easy expansion. However, the dimensions
of any external PCI cards must not exceed 167.65 x 96.4 x 18.7 mm (6.6 x 3.8 x
0.736 in).

2.2 Memory Installation
1. Loosen the six screws and remove the rear cover.
2. Push the lever of the memory slot outwards.
3. Insert the memory and then return the lever to its original position.
