1.Generaladvice
You haveboughtanairdryermadebyAERIALthusdecidingforaprovenquality
product.Ifthereareanyquestions, you willfindsomeadviceinthismanualhowto
eliminatesuchdifficultiesasquicklyaspossible.
ATTENTION:
Immediatelyafterreceipt,youshouldcheckyourairdryerfortransportdamage!In
thecaseof damage, youshouldinformtheforwarding agent, parcelservice, post
officeetc. accordinglyuponreceipt,andmakeanoteofit ontheforwarding
documents!
Ifatransport damageshouldbenoticedafterunpackingtheequipment,please
contactimmediatelyyourrespectivesellerorspecializeddealer.
Beforeputtingyourairdryerintooperationfortheveryfirsttime, theseinstructions
foroperationshouldbestudiedverythoroughly.Thus,you canmakesurethatthis
appliancewill operateperfectlyforalongperiod oftimesavingyourselves
unnecessaryrepairsandexpenses.
Inthecaseofmalfunction disconnectyourapplianceand ensurethatitisnot
connectedagainbytakingthemainsplugout ofthesocket.
Please, keepthedevicewrappinginordertobeabletosend thedevicesafefor
guarantee repair. Inordertosavespaceyouopensimplytheadhesivetapewitha
knifeand youfoldthecarton.
2.Modeoffunctioning
TheDH-airdryerisbuiltparticularlyforairdryinginclosedheatedrooms.That
dehumidifiercan preventtheformationofcondensation, eliminatetoohighair
humidityandholdaspecificairhumidityconstant. Thetimewhichthedryerrequires
inordertoachieveaspecifichumiditydependsessentiallyontheenvironmental
conditions. Theattainablehumidityvalueisequallydependent ontheenvironmental
conditions.
TheDH-dehumidifierworks according tothecondensationprinciplewithheat
recovery. Thefan(shownindicativelybelow)suck themoistairthroughacool
register(evaporator).Theairbecomessofarchilledunderthe pointof
condensationhere, thatthemoist aircondenseaswaterandflowsintothewater-
collecting tank.Thechilledanddriedairiswarmed upatthecondenseragain.
Throughtheheat pumpeffect,theoutletairissomedegreeswarmerthanthe
suckedroomair. Usefulenergycanconductedup to3-foldof theelectricalpower
consumption.Theabsolutemoistureofairisloweredcontinuouslybythe
continuouscirculationoftheroomairthrough thedevice.Thesurplusmoistureis
removedsafelyand efficiently.

3. Safety
Thecondensation dryersDH 18arefurnishedwithprotectivedevices. Thedevices
weresubjectedtoasafetyexamination.Dangersthreateninthecaseofoperating
errororabuse
-fortheuser.
-forthemachineand otherrealvalues.
-fortheefficientworkofthemachine.
Allpersonswhohavetodo withtheinstallation,serviceandmaintenanceofthe
devicesmustbequalifiedcorrespondinglyand considerthisoperatingmanual
precisely.
Using asdirected
Thecondensation dryersareintendedforthedryingof airwithatmospheric
pressure.
Riskbyaccessory
Hosesforcondensateremovalandairfiltersmust befitexpertlyandmustnottake
theprotectivedevicesofthecondensation dryersout ofoperation.Thecontrol
elementsmustalwaysremainfreelyamenable.
Authorizedusers
TheserviceofthecondensationdryersDH 18mayonlybecarriedout bypersons,
thatwereinstructedfromtheoperator.Theuserisresponsibleinthefieldofaction
thirdpartiescomparedto.

Responsibilitiesfordifferent activitiesonthedevicemustofcoursebedetermined
and kept. Unclearcompetencesareasafetyhazard.
Theoperatormustmaketheoperatinginstructionavailablefortheuserandmake
surethattheuserdidunderstand themanual.
4.Installationand transport
TheDH18-seriesisplannedforthestationaryandmobileeffort. During thesetting
up andtransportationofthedehumidifier, thefollowingitemsaretobeconsidered:
ØThedehumidifiermustbeinstalledsothattheaircancirculatewithout
obstruction throughit.Theairfilterandalsotheoutlet grillemustnotbecovered.
Theopenspacebeforetheoutlet grilleandtheairfiltermustatleastconduct1
meter.
ØBeforeeverylocalalternationofthedevice,switchoffthedeviceat theon/off-
switch,pullthepowerplugfromthesocket andemptythewatertank!
ØTheairdryermustbemovedonlyusingtheprovidedwheelsand handhold!
ØTheairdryermustbeinstalledonaplanebaseonly,asotherwiseitmustbe
securedagainstrolling off!
ØThatdehumidifiercanbetransporteduprightorlaidflat! Theupright
transportation istobepreferredif possible.
ØTheappliancemustbeusedexclusivelyforairdrying.

5.2electricalconnection
Beforeconnecting theairdryer,thefollowingitemsmustbechecked:
ØDoesthemainsvoltagecoincidewiththevoltageoftheappliance?
ØAdequatefusingofsocket andsupplysystem?
ØHastherequiredresidual-current-operatedcircuitbreaker(r.c.c.b)beeninstalled
incaseof swimmingbaths?
ØIfacabledrumisused:hasitbeenunwound completely?
ØIstheapplianceconnectorsuitableforthebuildingsocket?
ØIsthesocket providedwithaearthconnection?
ATTENTION:
Beforeputtingtheairdryerintooperation,thetechnicaldataoftheappliance
shouldbecomparedtotheconditionsprevailing intheroomofinstallation!
5.3Puttingintooperation
ATTENTION:
Beforeputtingtheairdryerintooperation,theinstructionmanualshouldbestudied
carefully.Thus,damagesbyafalseorinappropriateoperationaswellasby
inadequateenvironmentalconditionscanbeavoided.
Forusing theairdryer,pleaseproceedasfollows:
ØAfterhaving beentransported,theairdryershouldrestforabout15 min. During
thisperiodoftime,theoilinsidetherefrigerating system,that wasfoamed
during transportwillreturnintothecompressor.Werecommend thisprocedure
sinceitextendstheservicelifeofthecompressor.
ØPuttheplug intothesocket.Thegreenneon lightsup.

ØCheck whetherthebucketisplacedintheunitoradrainhosehasbeen
fastenedand laidappropriately.(referto5.7)
ØSet therequiredhumidityvalueat thehygrostat(referto5.5).
ØIftheexistinghumidityishigherthantheset value,theairdryerwillstartto
operate.
Iftheexistinghumidityislowerthanthesetvalue,theairdryerwill notstartto
operate.
ØThefan startsfirstandthecompressorwillstartafterapprox.3Minutes.

5.5Hygrostatcontrol
TheairdryersoftheDH-seriesdisposeofahygrostatforsetting therequired
humidityvalue.Thishygrostatislocatedattherearsideofthe unit,inthebucket
compartment.Itmakesthattheairdryercutsinassoon asthe ambienthumidity
exceedsthepreset value.If thehumidityvaluefallsbelowtheset value,the
hygrostat willswitchoffthecompletedryer.

Thesmoothsettingoptionofthehygrostatmakesaveryconvenient humidity
controlpossibleforyou.Ifveryprecisevaluesarerequested,you shouldmatchthe
hygrostat withtheinformationonaprecisehygrometer.
Pleaseconsider:
Humidityvaluesof aminimumof40%-45%r.h.canbeachievedwitha
condensationdryer. Anadsorption dryeristobeemployediflowervaluesare
required.
Forthispurpose, ask yourtechnicalconsultant.
Optimalclimate:
Forliving rooms, environmentalconditionsof20°-25°Cand 50-60%r.h.are
recommended.
Forbuildingdrying,thehygrostatbecomesturnedatcontinuesrunning (POS.I).
Inthecaseofthedrying roomswithwoodequipment(e.g.floors)orpaintings,
antiquesandsimilarthingsshouldnot befallenbelowahumidityof55%.
Ask yourtechnicalconsultant inthecaseofspecialapplications.
5.6Airflow
ThedehumidifiertypeDH 18 sucksroomairthroughtheairinlet grit(referto5.1–
Pos.3)(withairfilter). Thedryaircomesoutofthedehumidifierthroughtheoutlet
gritsat theoppositesiteofthedryerandalsoonthetopofthe dryer(referto5.1–
Pos.5). Theoutlet gritonthetopofthedehumidifier(referto5.1–Pos.5)canbe
turnedindifferent positions.Thusapartofthedryairissteeredpurposefullyina
requesteddirection.

5.7Condensateoutlet
ThedehumidifiersDH 18areprovidedwithwatercollectingbucket (4ltr)and
connectionforhose12 mm.
Thewatertank(referto5.1–Pos.4)isplacedbelowtheairinlet grit(Abs.5.1–
Pos.3).
Byafloatmechanismthedryerswiches
offautomaticallywhenthetankisfull.The
redneon lightsup.
Toremovethetank, seizewithbothhands
intothelateralcasehollowsandpullthe
tankforwardfromthedryer.
Inthetankisaboveablackturn-upgrasp,
withwhoseyou can carrythetank
comfortably.
Thedyerswitchesoff withwithdrawalof
thetankandswitchesonautomatically,if
theemptytankisplacedbackintothe
equipment.Makesurethatthecarrying
handleisfoldedcorrectlybackintothe
tank.
Optionallyahose12mm canbe
installed,inordertolead the
condensatedirectlyintoadischarge.
Removethestopperatthebackofthe
dryer(referto5.1–Pos. 11)and
attachattheopenconnectingpieces
ahose12mm.
Guidethehosewithslopeofthe
deviceintothedrainaway(at least 5
cmslopepermeters).
Makesurethatthehoseisfixedat
bothends.
Putthetakenstopperintotheopening
leftaboveinthebucket compartment.

ATTENTION:
Ifyouremovethedrainhose,thehoseconnectormustbelockedagainwiththe
stopper!
Makesurethatthecondensatecanalwaysbehandledsafely.

5.8Automaticdefrosting
Duringairdrying,icemayformattheevaporator.Thevolumeof icedependson the
ambient conditionsprevailingintheroomtobedried. Theairdryerisequippedwith
an automaticair-defroster. Itensuresthat, depending ontheextent oficeformation,
theappliancewillbedefrostedautomaticallyaccordingtothefollowingprinciple:
ØAtemperaturesensormeasurestheconditionexisting inacriticalareaofthe
evaporator.
ØIfatemperatureof-1°Chasbeenmeasuredforatleast5minutes,it passesa
signalon tothedefrost-system.Duringthedefrostmodethefan keepsrunning,
thecompressorstandsstill. Theiceontheevaporatorisdefrostedwiththehelp
oftheambient air. Dependinguponambienttemperaturethistakesmoreorless
time. Afterconclusionofthedefrost mode(atthelatestafter10 minutes)the
dryerbeginstoworkagaininthenormaldehumidifyingmode.
6. Operating conditions
DH-condensationdryersaresuitablefortheeffortinheatedresidentialbuildings,
garagesandstorerooms.DH-condensationdryersworkproblem-free at the
temperaturerangeof+15 to+32°Candinthecaseofrelativehumidityfrom40%to
95%r.h. .
Theuseinroomswithhighertemperatures(>+32°C)leadstodisadvantagesatthe
compressor. Theuseinroomswithlowertemperatures(<+15°C)isineffectiveand
can lead toicing.
Alsothestorageof thedehumidifierat inadmissibletemperatureconditionscan lead
todamages/problemswhileimmediateswitch-on.Therefore, makepossibleshort
timeforadaptationforthedevicebeforeswitch-on.
ATTENTION:
The appliancemustnotbeusedunderthefollowing conditions:
Øinroomsof potentiallyexplosiveatmosphere
Øinroomsof aggressiveatmospheres,forexampleammoniaand woodacid
ØInroomswithwaterwhichshowsapH-value outside of7,0to7,4. Remark: In
The caseoflowerpH-value, corrosion occursatallmetalsand damagesoccurs
at mortarcontaining materials. InthecaseofhigherpH-value, it comestoirritation
ofskinand eyemucousmembraneandextremelimedeposits.
ØInroomswithsalt orsaltyliquids. Salt content>1%(alsosolebaths).
ØInroomsofairtreatedwithozone
Øinroomsfeaturing ahigh concentration ofsolvents
Øinroomsof anextremelyhigh ratioofdust.
Inthecaseofdoubtfuloperatingconditionsitisrecommendedtocontactthe
TechnicalDepartmentof Messrs. AERIALoraspecializeddealer.
Using aDH-airdryerunderinadequateoperatingconditionswillentail thatthe
warrantybecomes null and void.

8. Service &Maintenance
ATTENTION
When performinganyrepairormaintenance,thegeneralsafetyrulesand
provisionsmust beadheredto!
Inordertoguarantee atroublefree functionof thedryerthedeviceshouldbe
cleanedregularly.Thefollowing procedureisinstead recommended:
ØSwitchOFFtheairdryer
ØDisconnectmainscable
ØRemovefilterforcleaning.Filtercan bewashedunderflowingwater.
ØVisualinspection:check tank,hoseconnectorandattachedhoseforblockage,
ifnecessarychangeit
ØClean casewithmoistcloth.DonotuseaggressiveDetergent
ØInsertneworcleanedfilter
ØPutmainplug intothesucket
ØSwitchondehumidifier.
Thiscleaningiswithoutfailregularlyrequired!
Noothermaintenanceworkisrequiredfortheairdryer.

9.Troubleshooting
Assignthat dehumidifieraputativedefect on, please, first check thefollowing points.
Ifthisshouldprovidenorelief, pleasecontactyourtechnicalconsultant.
1)Thedehumidifiershowsabadornodrying capacity
-Thehumidityislowerthan40%r.h.orthetemperatureinthatroomislowerthan
+15°C.Theusing ofthedryerisuneconomicalinthecaseof theseconditions.It is
recommendedtodisconnectthedryer. Tipp:Putthebuilt-inhygrostat(referto5.5)
onanattainablevalue(e.g.approx.50%r.F.),withitthedryerpunctuallymay
switchoff.
-Theairfilter(referto5.1–Pos.7)issoiled.Thedryerdoesnotreceiveair
sufficiently. Clean thefilterand/orinstallanewone. Asoiledairfiltercaninthe
longrunlead todisadvantagesatthedryer. Tipp: Controlthefilterregularly.
2) Thecompressorofthedehumidifierdoesnot work.
-Thedryerhasjustbeing switchedon(perhapsbecausethehumidityincreased).
Inthatcase, onlythefanstartsfirst.After3Minutesthecompressorwillalsostart.
-Thedryerisindefrost mode(referto5.8).Inthatcase,thefanworks and the
greenneon intheoperationpanel(referto5.4–Pos.3)lightsup. After10Minutes
thedryerstartscompleteworking again.
3) Thecompletedryerisoutof operation. Fanandcompressordoesnotrun.
-Istheunitsuppliedwithvoltage?Thegreenneon “operation”(referto5.4–Pos1)
mustlight up.Check themaincable, anadditionalcable,thesocket and themain
fuse.
-Thehumidityvalueadjustedat thehygrostat isachieved. Theunitwillstartagain
afterexceeding theadjustedhumidity.
-Watercollectingbucketisfull:Theredneon lightsup(referto5.4–Pos.4).
Emptythewaterbucketandputit backintotheunit.(referto5.6)
4) Strong icing up at the evaporator.
-Theambienttemperatureistolow(<+15°C).Putthedryerintoaroomwithmin.
+15°Croomtemperatureandwaituntilcompleteiceisdefrosted. Switchonthe
unit again(inthatroomwithmin.+15°C)andlet workforapprox3hours.Ifthere
isicingupagain, pleasecontactyourdealer.Otherwisemakesurethattheunit is
onlybeenusedinroomswithmorethan+15°C. Alsothestorageofthe
dehumidifieratinadmissibletemperatureconditionscan lead todamages/
problemswhileimmediateswitch-on.
5) Thehumidityadjustedatthehygrostat doesnotbecomeachieved and/orthe
devicedoesnotswitchoff automatic.:
-Isthehygrostat adjustedonavaluelowerthan 40–45%r.h.?Humidityvalues
withaminimumof40 %-45%r.h. can beachievedwithacondensationdryer.
Adjustthehygrostattoareachablevalue.
-Istheunitwithenough capacityforyourapplication? Theairchanging,numberof
thepersonsintheroomandopenwatersurfacesdecideonthehumidityburden
intheroom.Let calculatethenecessarycapacityfromyourdealer
-Istherealot ofwaterinthewallsorthefloor?Inthatcasethedryerneedssome
timetoremovethatwaterandtoachievean acceptablehumidityinthatroom.
