®
S3 breathalyzer.
Now, when you are drinking, you can be more aware of youralcohol level
and make an informed decision before you drive.

Insert two Two AAA Batteries

1. Install two AAAbatteries into the battery compartment, paying attention
to the battery polarity.
2. Insert a mouthpiece into the device mouthpiece slot before taking a test.
3. Ensure that the mouthpiece fits securely inside the mouthpiece slot.
4. For hygienic reasons, change to a newmouthpiece before testing
others.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CHANGING THE MEASUREMENT UNIT
To change the measurement unit between %BAC, mg/L, mg/100mLor ‰,
do the following:
1. Press the power button to switch on the device.
2. While it is counting down, press the power button 5 times. The screen
will display "unit" and the current measurement unit belowit (e.g. %BAC).
3. Press the power button until yourpreferred measurement unit is selected.
4. Once selected, hold down the power button for2 seconds to save the
setting. The device will then continue counting down before entering
test mode.
Step 1. Press the power button to switch on the device.
The total numberof tests performed will display on the
screen, followed by the result of the previous test.
Step 2. The device will start to warm up and the
countdown will display on the screen.
Step 3. When the countdown reaches “0”, the device will
emit a double beep and 3 dashes (≡) will display on the
screen along with “BLOW”. Take a deep breath and then
blowinto the device with a slowand steady breath. Only
stop blowing when you hearthe double beep again.
Step 4. When the sampling has been completed
successfully, you will see lines rotating around the
LCD screen as the device analyses yourbreath sample.
Step 5. Yourestimated BAC results will be displayed after
a fewseconds and remain on the screen for10 seconds
(the button will be deactivated during this time).
-If you would like to perform anothertest, wait until the result has finished
flashing, then press the power button once to restart the countdown cycle.
-If no action is taken, the device will automatically switch off after3 minutes of
inactivity.
- To switch off the device, hold down the power button formore than 3 seconds.
Note: Wait at least 30 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking
before taking a test.

Empty battery capacity. Replace with brand newalkaline AAAbatteries.
Testing cannot be performed because the battery is low.

The breath sample was not strong enough fora measurement. Please
press the power button to take anothertest. Take a deep breath and then
blowinto the device with a slowand steady breath. Only stop blowing when
you hearthe double beep again.
If there has been no breath sample blown within 3 minutes, the device will
display this message. Press the power button to restart the countdown cycle
and retest.
The device is out of operational range due to the temperature. Bring the
device to operational temperature (according to the specifications)and
then perform a retest.
Excessive saliva may have entered the sensorduring the test. Wait
20 minutes, then try again. If the error persists, please contact us.
The total numberof tests has reached 500. Please send the device back to us
forcalibration
Full battery capacity

The Sobermate®S3 uses a fuel cell sensorto measure breath alcohol
levels. Depending upon the amount of alcohol registered by the sensor
aftera period of time, it will require calibration. The manufacturer
recommends the Sobermate®S3 to be calibrated every 12 months or
every 500 uses, whichevercomes first.
