Avaya offers a complete range of advanced HD video conferencing room systems, stand alone or as
part of Avaya Equinox Conferencing Solution.
Our complete range of dedicated Avaya XT Series video conferencing endpoints lets you
experience exceptional video conferencing in any environment. Leverage leading, powerful video
communications technology to deliver an unparalleled video collaboration experience, from
immersive Telepresence, to conference room systems.
Our Avaya XT Series endpoints incorporate the latest video communications technology, including
dual 1080p/60fps video channels, H.265 and H.264 High Profile for bandwidth efficiency, H.265 and
H.264 Scalable Video Coding for error resiliency, and Apple iPad/iPhone device control.
The Avaya XT Series includes a full range of room, personal and group systems.

Supported Languages
Avaya XT Series supports the following 24 languages on the endpoint and its web interface: English,
French, Spanish, Deutsch, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, Chinese (Mandarin),
Japanese, Russian, Korean, Czech, Magyar, Polish, Finnish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish,
Arabic, Farsi, Serbian, Bahasa Indonesia, Slovak.
Web Interface Management
Avaya XT Series endpoints can be managed from the XT Graphical User interface ([GUI]) or using a
standard web browser ([Web]), via HTTPS (default) or HTTP.
To login into the Codec Unit with a web browser, browse to https://<XT IP Address >
The default credentials are:
User: Admin
Password: 1234
All the paths specified in this release note with a notation with the [WEB]prefix, like
[WEB]ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>PROTOCOLS>PRESENCE,REFER TO XT WEB INTERFACE CONFIGURATIONS.
Important
You need to press the 'Save' button to apply changes done via Web Interface,
otherwise your changes will not be applied.

Advanced Settings Menu
To enable Advanced Settings in the endpoint’s Main menu (Graphical User Interface, GUI), set
[GUI] > CONFIGURE >GENERAL >SHOW ADVANCED SETTINGS:YES
Important
Changes to settings done via the Graphical Interface are automatically saved and
applied when exiting the menu page.
The XT Graphical Menu items available in the path [GUI] > Configure > Advanced can
be found also inside the XT Web Interface Menu, tab 'Administrator Settings'. This tab
is always enabled in the Web Interface.

What’s New
This section describes some enhancements and fixings available in this software version 9.0.0.23
since previous Avaya XT Series GA version, v8.3.7.51.
Cloud Management and Auto Provisioning
When a new Avaya XT Series Endpoint is installed, a quick setup wizard is displayed to manually
configure some needed parameters (for instance GK address/E.164 or SIP Server address with
credentials), in addition to other user preferences like XT name and UX language.
With this release Avaya XT Series Endpoints can be auto-configured, up and running, with minimal
user intervention. The input of a numeric code at the first startup allows configuring XT automatically
with a pre-provisioned profile created by your XT Administrator using Avaya Equinox® Management
available as part of Equinox Solution 9.0.0.
When using an XT in a company where Avaya Equinox® Management is available, the
administrator can now enable the Auto-Provisioning feature in the Avaya Equinox® Management
Settings.
Auto-Provisioning an endpoint means to define a set of parameters for it in Avaya Equinox®
Management, even before it is connected to the network (at home or in the company premises), and
have the endpoint get these parameters automatically from Avaya Equinox® Management at first
startup. Once provisioned, the endpoint will be managed by the Avaya Equinox® Management,
which can change XT configurations and preferences at any time.

In this way the administrator can easily configure a provisioning profile for any XT endpoint even
before it is installed. No manual configuration is required on XT for common parameters.
Important
Feature will be supported for XTs installed in any location, provided that Avaya
Equinox® Management version is available for association with the XT, that XT is
connected to the Internet and that your DHCP server is able to assign a valid DNS
address to XT.
Please refer to Avaya Equinox® Management release for further details about the
feature.
Important
XT Auto-Provisioning Service may be interrupted, including for maintenance, repairs,
upgrades, or equipment or network failures. We may discontinue certain features and

the support for certain XT devices at any time. Events beyond our control may affect
our service, such as force majeure events.
Pre-Provisioning an XT Endpoint
To define a pre-provisioning parameter for an endpoint, click on the Add button in the Avaya
Equinox® Management Endpoints tab, and chose Pre-Provisioning an Endpoint.

A Service Code corresponding to the pre-provisioned endpoint profile is generated.
You can then specify a set of basic/advanced settings for an endpoint.

Once they are added, Pre-provisioned endpoints are marked with a blue "clock" icon in the Avaya
Equinox® Management list. This icon means that a profile is ready to be applied to an endpoint with
a certain Service Code, but the endpoint did not yet connect to receive the provisioning profile.

When the pre-provisioned XT Endpoint starts for the first time, you will be invited by a guided
procedure to choose the preferred language and then to enter your Service Code

If the service code is correct, the pre-provisioned name for your XT is shown and you can continue
the automatic configuration. If the service code is not correct or you do not accept the pre -
configuration, you can go back to previous step and proceed with a manual configuration.
Important
Once your endpoint has been successfully provisioned, the Avaya Equinox®
Management mode will be marked as “Cloud”
If your endpoint was already managed, the mode will be automatically upgraded to
“Cloud” when upgrading Avaya Equinox® Management to this solution version.
When managed in “Cloud mode”, the XT is connected using a secure web socket to
Avaya Equinox® Management for services like configuration, LDAP entries, software
upgrade, scheduling and meeting management (meeting roster and similar features).

Post-Provisioning an XT Endpoint
If you don't have the code for a specific endpoint, because it has not yet been provisioned in Avaya
Equinox® Management, you can insert the Server Service Code of your Avaya Equinox®
Management, and leave the Endpoint Service Code digits empty or all zeroes (post-provisioning
code). This feature is called Post-Provisioning. In this case the Avaya Equinox® Management
Admin will be notified that an endpoint, not yet provisioned, has been added to the list of the
manageable endpoints and can be configured any time later.
This way, an IT administrator can plug all the XTs in all the company conferencing rooms, just
inserting the same post provisioning code; then set a mnemonic name for the endpoint and
configure it later in Avaya Equinox® Management, where it will be displayed with a red clock icon
near the name.
You can then specify a set of basic/advanced settings for an endpoint, or delete the endpoint if you
don't want to provision it any longer.

Auto Provisioning FAQ
[Q]What is the default for Auto-provisioning in XT endpoints?
[A]The default depends on the installation of the XT and if it was already managed by an Avaya
Equinox® Management entity. If the XT is a newly installed endpoint or it was not managed, the
default will be “Cloud”; otherwise it will be “Local”. The Local Mode will be automatically changed to
“Cloud” when the Avaya Equinox® Management entity managing the endpoint is updated to this
solution release.
[Q]How to check if my XT is managed through the cloud or not?
[A]Check Configure>Advanced>Utilities>Remote Access>Avaya Equinox® Management
Mode: Cloud (Connection using auto-provisioning)/ Local (Connection to Scopia
Management 8.3 version or earlier)
If the connection Mode is “Cloud”, your XT is connected to Avaya Equinox® Management using a
secure web socket. Status of the connection is visible in XT Web home page or in System Status>
More.
[Q]What happens if I load factory defaults on a provisioned XT?
[A]Your XT will remember the Service Code inserted for Provisioning and will propose it again (only
the first 5 digits are needed). Just press “Next” in the initial wizard to have your XT configured again
with the same Avaya Equinox® Management.
[Q]How can I associate my XT to a different Management Server with auto provisioning?
[A]Ask your administrator to remove your XT from the Management Server and to add it to a new
Management Server. Once you received a new Service Code, load Factory defaults on your XT.
You will be prompted to insert the Service Code for the Management Server. Insert the new one you
received.
[Q]How can I associate my XT to a different Management Server manually?
[A]Ask your administrator to remove your XT from the first Management Server and to add it to a
new Management Server manually. You will be disconnected from the first server and connected
automatically to the second one.

[Q]How can I force my XT to forget the assigned Management Server Service ID?
[A]Configure your XT for “Local” mode with a manual IP empty address or with a different
Management Server.
[Q]I have a valid service code for my XT but the initial Wizard keeps saying that the Management
Server is not available…? What can I do?
[A]Check that your XT is connected to the network. Check that it received a valid IP address and a
valid DNS server address from the DHCP server on your network. Then connect to the XT Web
Server using any browser (see “Web Interface Management section”) and browse to [WEB]
DIAGNOSTICS>NETWORK>PING.Ping “support.avaya.com” or a similar well known web URL. If it is not
reachable, your XT is not connected to the internet or the configured DNS is not valid. If the above
URL is reachable, check that the FQDN configured in Avaya Equinox®Management is reachable.
Presence Server
This version allows an Avaya XT Series endpoint to register to an XMPP Presence Server to publish
its own presence status and to view presence status of other contacts (XT endpoints or devices
registered to the presence server).
Note
The Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is defined in the XMPP
Core (RFC 6120) and XMPP IM (RFC 6121) specifications contributed by the XMPP
Standards Foundation to the Internet Standards Process, which is managed by the
Internet Engineering Task Force in accordance with RFC 2026.
XMPP Presence Overview
A presence server stores information about the published presence status of devices associated to
a "contact". Typical presence statuses are "Offline", "Online", "Away" and "Busy".
A contact Alice publishes her own initial status when it registers to the presence server and notifies
the server every time her status changes.

notified of her status changes.

When a contact Bob subscribes to Alice, some presence servers allow Alice to approve such
request, and to grant/revoke the possibility for Bob to view Alice's status. Other servers grant Alice's
presence view to Bob automatically.

Alice can grant or ignore Bob's request to view her presence status. If Alice grants to Bob access to
her presence status, Bob can query current Alice's status when he connects to the server and will
be notified every time Alice's status changes

If the presence server supports such service, Alice can revoke Bob's access to her presence status.
Bob can also unsubscribe from Alice's presence any time.
XMPP Presence Configuration
To configure the Presence Server, browse to
[GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>PROTOCOLS>PRESENCE
[WEB]ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>PROTOCOLS>PRESENCE
Use XMPP: Yes/No*. Enable the XMPP Presence Server
User Name: Insert the user name of your presence account (i.e. Alice)
Password: Insert the password of your presence account
Server Type: Generic*/Avaya One-X Portal for IP Office/Avaya Aura (7.0, 7.1 or higher)
Domain: Insert the DNS name or domain for your presence server (mandatory)
Port: Insert the XMPP Server port (default 5222)
IP Address: Insert the IP address for your presence server. While the domain name is mandatory,
an additional IP address is optional, but is be needed if the domain name cannot be resolved by
DNS
Always Accept Subscriptions: Yes*/No. If enabled, the received subscription requests will be
automatically accepted. This means that a contact that sent a subscription request to see XT
presence will be able to see it without further action on XT side. If disabled, a list of active
subscription requests is visible and each of them must be manually accepted or rejected (see
“Subscription Request List”). This option is not configurable for Aura Presence Server, which
always accept subscriptions without waiting for authorizations.
Automatic Mutual Subscription: Yes*/No. If enabled, every time XT receives a subscription
request from a contact, it will automatically subscribe to see the presence of such contact. So, if
Bob asks to see Alice's presence, Alice will be able to see automatically the presence of Bob. If

disabled, Alice must send a subscribe request to Bob to see his presence (see “How to view other
XT/contacts presence status”). This option is not available for Aura Presence Server.
Automatic Favorites Subscription: Yes*/No. If enabled, XT will send a subscription request
automatically when adding a new favorite or adding a new number on an existing favorite.
Show Advanced Subscription Options: Yes/No*.If enabled, subscribe/unsubscribe and
grant/revoke operations can be done for each presence contact, when supported by the server.

Note
To configure a Presence Server, please contact your IT administrator to gather
information about the proper login credentials for your XT presence account, the
server DNS name and IP address (optional).
Different XMPP Presence Server types can limit the available services
(subscribe/unsubscribe, grant/revoke, status presence). Known limitations are:
Avaya One-X Portal for IP Office. It is not possible to subscribe to accounts used by
One-X Portal clients. As a workaround you can temporarily assign the same account
to another XT, subscribe to it from your XT, and then move it again to the client.
Avaya Aura: contacts are not notified of subscription requests. It is not possible to
grant/revoke subscription request. XT endpoint must manually subscribe to other
contacts to view their presence.
Presence icons used by different clients can differ.

How to View and Change Your Presence Status
Once the presence server is configured you can check your current registration to the server and
your presence status or the presence status of another user or XT connected to the presence
server. Presence status in XT is represented as below and changes automatically in some
conditions.

You can also manually force XT to register to the server using a specific status, selecting among
‘Out Of Office’, ’Available ’, ’Away ’, ’Busy ’, ’Do not Disturb’ to change your presence status. The
manual status will be preserved after reboot. Select Automatic to enable again the automatic status,
based on above table.
To manually change your status or revert to automatic status, browse to
[GUI] CONFIGURE >PRESENCE>STATUS

Important
IP Office Presence Server might force your presence status to "Busy" when in a SIP
call, if registered to IP Office SIP Server, regardless your manual presence status.

How to Subscribe to Contacts
Once the presence server is configured, you can subscribe to view the presence of a contact in
several ways.
1) After receiving or placing a call, browse to the recent calls list, select the desired item and
press right arrow to view the call details. If the presence server is enabled, you can press the
"Show presence" button to ask the contacts to view their presence.

2) Enable "Automatic Mutual Subscription" in Presence configuration to automatically subscribe
to the contacts asking for your presence.
3) Edit an existing Favorite Contact or Number. Press "Show Presence" button to subscribe to
that person or device.

4) Enable "Show Advanced Subscription Options" (see XMPP Presence Configuration), and
browse to [GUI] CONFIGURE >PRESENCE>Press Subscriptions. Edit the User Name of the contact
you want to subscribe to and press "Subscribe"

How to Accept/Reject Subscription Requests
If your Presence Server supports it, you can decide which contacts are authorized to view your
presence status. Every time a subscription request is received the presence page is updated with
the number of pending subscription requests.

To accept or reject a subscription request, press on the request. The authorization question below
will appear. Accept or reject the request.

To manually grant or revoke subscriptions, you can also enable "Show Advanced Subscription
Options" (see XMPP Presence Configuration), and press Subscriptions. Edit the User Name of the
contact you want to change subscription authorization and press Give/Revoke Subscription

How to View Subscribed Contacts Presence
Once the contacts you subscribed have given you permission to see their status, you can view their
presence status in the following pages.

If the presence number corresponds to a valid sip or h323 name or number and the XT is registered
