Scopia® XT Series Highlights

Our complete range of dedicated Scopia® XT Series video conferencing endpoints lets you
experience exceptional video conferencing in any environment. Leverage leading, powerful video
communications technology to deliver an unparalleled video collaboration experience, from
immersive telepresence, to conference room systems.
Our Scopia® XT Series for Video Conferences incorporate the latest video communications
technology, including dual 1080p/60fps video channels, H.265 and H.264 High Profile for
bandwidth efficiency, H.265 and H.264 Scalable Video Coding for error resiliency, and Apple iPad
device control.
The Scopia® XT Series includes a full range of room, personal and group systems.

Scopia® XT Series supports the following 24 languages on the endpoint and its web interface:

Web Interface Management
Scopia® XT Series can be managed using a standard web browser, via HTTPS (default) or HTTP.
To login into the Codec Unit with a web browser, browse to https://<XT IP Address >
The default credentials are:

oYou need to press the 'Save' button to apply changes done via Web Interface,
otherwise your changes will not be applied.

Advanced Settings Menu
To enable Advanced Settings in the endpoint’s Main menu (Graphical User Interface, GUI), set
[GUI] > CONFIGURE >GENERAL >SHOW ADVANCED SETTINGS:YES
Important
oChanges to settings done via the Graphical Interface are automatically saved and
applied when exiting the menu page.
oThe XT Graphical Menu items available in the path [GUI] > Configure > Advanced
can be found also inside the XT Web Interface Menu, tab 'Administrator Settings'.
This tab is always enabled in the Web Interface.

What’s New
This section describes some enhancements and fixings available in this software version
8.3.2.526 since previous Scopia® XT Series GA v8.3.0.89.
Scopia® XT7100 Room System
Scopia® XT7100Figure 2:
Scopia® XT7100 Room System is the new generation Avaya’s flagship product in the Scopia®
XT7000 Series of room systems. Scopia® XT7100 incorporates dual 1080p/60fps live video and
content, HD audio, point to point calling using H.265 (which offers the same high resolution
experience using nearly half the bandwidth), H.264 baseline and High Profile, all three available
also with SVC, and multi-party calling with H264/H264 High Profile. The PTZ camera, supporting
1080p/60fps, offers 10x optical zoom (40x digital) and wide-angle capability for viewing details and
an entire group.
Dual HD input allows simultaneous connection of two cameras in switching mode for a full
coverage of large rooms or auditoriums.
The second video stream can be used with an additional camera. An embedded MCU with
support for continuous presence with up to 9 participants is available. The advanced audio system
delivers CD-quality, 20 kHz audio and includes a brand new three-way beam forming digital
microphone pod that isolates the speaker from noise. The user interface is designed for simplicity
along with Apple iPad control for enhanced capabilities. The XT7100’s refinement not only
enhances the user experience but its modern hardware design complements any conference
room.
Important
oH.265 implementation follows the ITU-T Recommendation H.265 and ISO/IEC
International Standard 23008-2, both also known as High Efficiency Video Coding
(HEVC).
oH.265 (HEVC) is supported by Scopia XT7000 Series both in SIP and H.323 calls.
However, at the moment third party endpoints (like CISCO SX80) support H.265
(HEVC) only in SIP calls.

oH.265 (HEVC) video coding/decoding is currently supported only in point-to-point
calls and only as main video and is available only on Scopia® XT7000 Series.
oH.265 implementation in SIP follows RTP Payload Format for High Efficiency
Video Coding (draft-ietf-payload-rtp-h265-09).
oH.265 implementation in H.323 is Avaya Proprietary.
oH.265 SVC implementation in SIP/H.323 is Avaya Proprietary.
Optional Camera
You can connect an optional camera (HD2) to the XT7000 Codec Unit to have different views of
your room. Typically, you connect the main camera to the HD1 CAM connector and the optional
Premium camera to the HD2 CAM connector. In this version, HD2 camera input is not used for
content sharing.

Important
oThe optional camera is not powered by the XT Codec Unit. You need to connect
the power supply cable to the DC IN connector on the optional camera.
oTo control the Pan/Tilt/Zoom and other properties of the optional camera by the
XT Remote Control Unit, connect a crossed VISCA control cable to the RS-232C
IN connector on the optional camera and to the RS-232C OUT connector on the
main camera.

Enable: Yes. The camera will be available for input selection.
Control Camera: Yes. The camera can be controlled and configured using a crossed VISCA
cable. Camera can be moved or zoomed directly by the XT remote control unit.

Scopia XT Camera Switch
Avaya Scopia XT Camera Switch enables all the endpoints of Avaya Scopia XT5000 or XT7000
Series to replace a single HD camera with up to four HD Cameras or four generic HDMI devices
(such as DVD and generic media players). The Avaya Scopia XT Camera Switch is fully powered
and controlled from the Avaya Scopia XT5000 or XT7000 Series. The switch can be controlled
from XT User Interface and Remote Control.
When connecting a Scopia XT Camera Switch to an XT7000 Series, please note that the HDMI
cable of the switch must be connected to the HD2 CAM input of the XT, to extend the XT7000 HD
camera up to five units (main HD1 camera plus 4 additional cameras connected using HD2).

Attention
oWhen connecting a Scopia XT Camera Switch to a Scopia XT7000 Series, use
the HD2 CAM input of XT to plug the HDMI cable. HD1 Cam input on XT7000 is
used as main camera (HD1). HD Cameras on the switch are numbered starting
from HD2 (HD2- HD5 corresponds to cameras 1..4 of the switch) and must be
cascaded using crossed VISCA cables in this order (XT HD1 camera, then
camera 1... camera 4 on the switch).

Scopia® XT4300
Scopia® XT4300 with Flex CameraFigure 6:
This version supports Scopia® XT4300, the new Small-Medium rooms solutions of Scopia® XT
Series, using a new generation camera, Scopia® Flex Camera (1080p 60fps camera, PTZ, ~70°
Hz View Angle).
In this endpoint, camera zoom is limited to 5x, expandable to 15x total (5x optical, 3x digital) using
Zoom Upgrade option license. Video and presentation are supported, up to 1080p60. Additional
HD monitor out can be enabled with option. Also embedded MCU4 and SMB4 are available as
options.
Important
oScopia® XT Camera Switch is not supported by Scopia® XT4300 endpoints
oScopia® Flex Camera cannot be VISCA cascaded with any other Camera
oScopia® Flex Camera is not available as a “standalone” P/N to be used with other
Scopia® XT Series Endpoints

before additional manual changes.
Flex Camera SettingsFigure 7:
Flex Camera Preset PTZ Improvements
In order to speed up PTZ to camera presets with Scopia XT Flex Camera a brand new approach
has been implemented in v8.3 FP2. This new implementation significantly improves customer
experience when recalling saved presets.
Attention
oPlease note that when updating XT4300 v8.3.2.56 to this new version all
previously set presets will be lost and must be re-configured.

Scopia® XTE240
1080p Support by Default
This version upgrades XTE240 to natively support 1080p30 on live video using the embedded
USB Camera and 1080p60 using an optional Premium Camera. Customers upgrading to v8.3.2
do not need the Full HD upgrade license to experience 1080p on their executive endpoint.
Scopia® XTE240 as Room Endpoint
The quick setup wizard now allows configuring XTE240 as a standard Room Endpoint.

Use As:
oPersonal Executive EP: XT PC Control is enabled, authentication is required once.
Special XTE desktop behavior and defaults are used.
oShared Executive EP: XT PC Control is enabled; authentication is required every time
a PC input is connected. Special XTE behavior and defaults are used.
oStandard Room EP: XT PC Control is disabled. Standard Scopia® XT Series behavior
and defaults are used.

When using XT PC Control,
It is now possible to click with the mouse on the mute button in the GUI title bar to toggle audio
mute.
The Full screen option activated with the mouse right click is applied to the window under the
mouse cursor.

Screen Link and Mobile Link
Screen Link and Mobile Link are two Avaya technologies that allow easy pairing between a
Scopia® Desktop client for Windows/Mac and a nearby Scopia® XT Series Endpoint that are
connected to a network.
The pairing can be used to share computer desktop with an XT endpoint, locally or in a meeting
for Screen Link, or to easily transfer audio/video/presentation from the Scopia® Desktop Client to
a Scopia® XT endpoint.
Screen Link
In this version it is possible to activate a "Screen Link" pairing between a Scopia® Desktop Client
application (Windows PC or Mac) and a nearby XT endpoint.
This pairing allows viewing the computer desktop on XT’s screen without using a DVI cable, but
using only the network connectivity between the computer and the XT Codec Unit.
The feature is enabled by default on XT series. A PIN is required by default for manual pairing.
On PC or Mac, launch the Scopia® Desktop Client application. If this application is not available,
connect to your Scopia Desktop Portal.
Once the Scopia® Desktop application is running on your computer, right click on its icon on the
tray bar to activate the Screen Link.

Look for Endpoints (Automatic acoustic pairing): this option will generate an ultrasonic
sound (18 kHz, preceded by an audible short beep) that can be detected by a nearby
XT (using 3-way pod or 1-way pod) for acoustic pairing. A list of all the detected XT will
be displayed, together with their status (represented by icons).
Detected XTs automatically wake up from standby mode to display on their screen the
title bar with their name and IP address.
Connect to Other Endpoint (Manual pairing): you can manually select an XT by its IP
address. If XT Codec Unit is in stand-by mode, you need to wake up the XT using its
remote control unit or pressing the mute button on the 3-way pod, to be able to see its IP
address.

If not in a call, the shared content will be immediately displayed on XT (if Local Presentation Mode
is set to Automatic, otherwise press 'Present' on XT remote control unit).
When in a call, the shared content will be immediately displayed on XT and also shared with
remote peers as presentation stream (if Remote Presentation Mode is set to Automatic, see XT
Configuration below). Otherwise a manual start (present button or key press) is needed to start
sharing.
Once the Scopia® Desktop client is successfully paired to a selected XT, its icon on the tray bar
will change as in the picture, while XT will show a similar icon (white) on the title bar.

Important
oWhen a DVI content is displayed on XT or another Scopia® Desktop client has an
active Screen Link connection with the same XT, the pairing will fail ( the endpoint
is listed with forbidden icon or manual pairing will fail with "Endpoint unavailable"
message). To activate Screen link from a different client, terminate presentation
on XT by pressing Present or stop Screen Link from the client.
Important
oWhen a DVI cable is connected while a Screen Link is active, the DVI connection
is used instead of the Screen Link (physical DVI plug has precedence over
Screen Link).

Important
oThe whole computer desktop is shared, with resolutions up to 1920x1080, 30fps.
Higher resolutions like 1920x1200 are not supported.
oIn this Scopia® Desktop Client version, audio from the computer is not shared
using Screen Link. Please use an analog/digital audio cable to share audio from
the computer.
Mobile Link
When you are attending a Scopia® Meeting using a Scopia® Desktop Client application, you can
move the audio/video flow of the meeting to a nearby XT, while keeping the control of the
conference, the chat and the presentation on the Scopia® Desktop client.
This way you can benefit of the XT high definition experience, while controlling the meeting and
having a copy of the presentation with the slider functionality on your computer.
When in a Scopia Meeting, press Mobile Link. The automatic detection of all nearby XT endpoints
starts, using automatic acoustic pairing (see Troubleshooting section for details and limitations). A
list of nearby detected endpoints is displayed, with icons representing their status (see XT Status
section). You can select an available endpoint or select an endpoint manually (by IP address: in
his case a direct connectivity between Mac and XT or Scopia Management and XT is needed).
Mobile Link is enabled by default on XT side, and a PIN is required by default for a manual pairing.

You can handle the audio video session back to the Desktop application, but in this case the XT is
not disconnected from the meeting.
Please also note that your microphone and speakers remains muted when the audio session is
restored.
Mobile Link Connectivity
oManual selection of the XT endpoint requires direct connectivity between SDC
and the selected XT or between Scopia® Management and the selected XT.
oWhen the meeting in which the SDC is participating is located in a company
premises where a Pathfinder or similar entities are not available, an XT outside
the premises could not be able to join the meeting or could not receive a
presentation. This may happen if you are participating to a meeting in a private
company environment using a VPN connection with your PC/Mac SDC and you
try to pair for mobile link with XT in a hotel or public place, while your company
does not provide a public PathFinder or SIP border element to allow XT to join
meetings inside the company.

To change Screen Link and Mobile Link options on XT, browse to:

Screen Link and Mobile Link: XT Status
When Screen Link or Mobile Link are activated using automatic detection by sound, a list of
nearby XT Series endpoints is displayed, together with a status icon. Below table describes the
icons representing the status of the detected endpoints, regarding the Screen Link or Mobile Link
pairing.
No icon: XT can be selected for Screen Link / Mobile Link pairing.
Lock icon: XT can be selected for Screen Link / Mobile Link pairing. A PIN
will be required to complete the pairing. The PIN will be displayed
on XT screen for a couple of minutes. Press back on XT remote
control to dismiss the PIN earlier.

Forbidden icon: XT cannot be selected for Screen Link / Mobile Link pairing. This
happens when Screen Link/Mobile Link has been disabled on XT
(see XT Configuration)
Busy icon: XT cannot be selected for Screen Link / Mobile Link pairing. This
happens when:
(Screen Link) XT is already showing or sharing a
computer's screen content, originated by another
connection (via DVI or Screen Link).
(Mobile Link) XT is already in a call or in another Scopia
Meeting.
Important
oThe automatic pairing (by sound) is possible only in quiet meeting rooms or
offices where:
the laptop is on the same table as the XT microphone pod
the distance between the pod and the laptop is not more than 1.5 meters
away from a 3-way pod, or 1 meter using the 1-way pod
there are no relevant obstacles between the laptop and the pod.
oXTE240 built-in microphone embedded in XTE240 camera cannot detect the
pairing sound. To use Screen Link functionality, please add a 3-way or 1-way
microphone pod to your XTE or select the XT manually.
Screen Link / Mobile Link: Known Issues and Troubleshooting
This section illustrates known issues and limitations of Scopia® XT Version 8.3.2.526 and
Scopia® Desktop Client 8.3.200.xxx
Screen Link Resolution
oIn this Scopia® Desktop Client version it is not possible to change screen
resolution while Screen Link is active. Stop screen link, change resolution and
start again.
Screen Link Network Connectivity
oScreen Link requires a direct IP connectivity between computer and XT.
oComputer must reach the selected XT by ip address, using HTTPS (port
443/TCP).
oXT must reach the computer's IP address using RTPS (port 8554/TCP).
oYou need to allow ingoing connections from XT to Scopia® Desktop Client (port
8554, TCP) on your computer. When the firewall alert below appears on your
computer, press "Allow access".

Screen Link/Mobile Link Acoustic Pairing Volume
oThe automatic pairing (by sound) is possible only in quiet meeting rooms or
offices where:
the laptop is on the same table as the XT microphone pod
the distance between the pod and the laptop is not more than 1.5 meters
away from a 3-way pod, or 1 meter using the 1-way pod
there are no relevant obstacles between the laptop and the pod.
oXTE240 embedded camera cannot detect the pairing sound. Please add a 3-way
or 1-way microphone pod to your XTE or select the XT manually.
oDo not use "Start Mobile Link" if the sound is annoying or hearable for you or
other people in open space offices.
oIn this version the sound might be generated by the Scopia® Desktop Client in the
headset earphones. In this case the sound will not be detected by nearby XTs.
Use the manual pairing procedure, specifying the XT IP address.
oIf the XT is not able to detect the sound for acoustic pairing, try to adjust the
volume in the Scopia® Desktop Client:
Right click on the Scopia® Desktop Client icon on the windows tray bar

Select Settings, Advanced Tab
Scroll down to Screen Link /Mobile Link Volume Level.
Increase it (70%-80% max should suffice)
Press ok and try again to generate the sound

Screen Link/Mobile Link Acoustic Pairing
oYou can verify if the Acoustic pairing is affected by interfering sounds generated
by the ambient (for instance by monitors or fire detection devices).
oIn Configure>System Status> Diagnostics>I/O connections>Audio>Tests check
the level of the Sonic Performance (acoustic pairing) meter when you are not
generating acoustic signals for pairing. The performance meter (blue bar) should
be not present or low when acoustic generation is idle, and should reach high
performance (full blue bar) during generation of the acoustic signal.
If the performance is high or variable even if the acoustic generation is not
active, the XT might not be able to perform acoustic pairing properly.
Check if there are ultrasonic sources in the room (fans or other devices).
If the performance is low even if the acoustic generation is active, try to
adjust the volume in the Scopia® Desktop application (see previous
section).

Ending Mobile Link
oSDC version has the following limitations when restoring the audio and video back
in the Desktop client:
XT is not disconnected from the meeting. Disconnect XT manually using
the remote control or using the Scopia® Desktop moderating feature.
The audio mic and the speakers remain muted. You have to reactivate
them manually
Mobile Link Client Limitations
oSDC version has the following limitations:
Do not close Mobile Link menu while the mac is searching for XT
endpoints. Wait for the XT list to become visible before closing the popup.
How to manually restart a Scopia® Desktop Client

How to retrieve log files
oTo collect Screen Link/Mobile Link log files to analyze issues you need to retrieve
some log files on Scopia® Desktop client and on XT.
o[Screen Link] On Scopia® Desktop Client, open Log Folder menu, retrieve the last
CALL_LOG-ScreenLink.DATETIME.xml file.
o[Mobile Link] On Scopia® Desktop Client, open Log Folder menu, retrieve the last
CALL_LOG-DATETIME.xml file.
o[Mobile Link] On Scopia® Management, retrieve the log pack from the toolbar ->
