Engine Timing Tool Set VW 2,4 & 2,5 Diesel
GENERAL
This timing tool set enables checking and adjusting of the engine timing and is suitable for VW models
Transporter 2.4D (95-03), Crafter 2.5TDI (06-09) and LT models with engine codes AAB, AJA, BJJ,
BJK, BJL, BJM.
SAFETY ADVICE
xDO NOT use the set if any parts are missing or damaged.
xNever lay tools on the vehicle's battery. This may short the terminals together.
xBe careful when working on running engines. Loose clothes, tools and other things can be caught
up in revolving parts which may lead to serious injuries.
xKeep children and other unauthorised persons away from the working area.
xBe careful when working on hot engines – risk of burn!
xRemove the ignition key before repair so that the engine will not start unintentionally.
xThis manual is just brief information and will not replace a garage handbook.
xAlways consult specific service literature for information about torques, assemblies and
disassemblies etc.
xAfter any successful maintenance and before starting the engine, you should rotate the engine for
two turns manually to check the new control time.
xDo not use cleaning fluids on belts, sprockets or rollers
xTurn the engine in the normal direction (clockwise unless stated otherwise)

INSTRUCTIONS
A
Use this tool to hold the Crankshaft Pulley Flange during
loosening the pulley flange centre bolt.
Note: Do not release the pulley flange centre bolt during the
camshaft and crankshaft timing tools are in place.
Always use the counterholder during loosen the centre bolt.
B
Use this tool to adjust the injector pump wheel.
A fine adjustment of the injection pump must be made, where
appropriate, by turning the pump.
C
The tool is used to adjust the camshafts.
Turn the camshaft until one side of the tool on the sealing
surface rests.
Measure the clearance between the tool and the sealing
surface with the feeler gauge on the opposite side.
Aligning the camshaft so that feeler gauge fits with half
clearance on both sides between ruler and sealing surface.
