Follow the described steps for commissioning of the BWT bestaqua 60-62 reverse osmosis unit.

2Water quality
The feed water, which is to be treated in the BWT bestaqua 60-62 unit, must be drinking water
quality with maximum 500 mg/l TDS. Feed water temperature is Min/Max: 5°C /25 °C. Feed water
pressure 3-6 bar.
The feed water may maximum contain:
Fe : 0.05 mg/l
Cl2 : 0.1 mg/l
SDI15 : 3.0
Mn: 0.02 mg/l
Turbidity: 1.0 NTU
KMnO4 : 10 mg/l
3Water connections
1. Examine Figure 1 and locate water connection fittings on your BWT bestaqua 60
2. Assemble Part 1 (check valve) on main water pipe
3. Assemble then Parts 2-8 together as shown on Figure 2. Use fiber gaskets when assembling
pressure hoses on pre-filter housing
4. Attach Part 7 (pressure hose) to Water inlet ¾” on BWT bestaqua 60
5. Attach Part 8 (plastic hose) to Concentrate drain Ø12 on BWT bestaqua 60 and the
other hose end to the drain with 20 cm air gap. Note! The hose may never be bent!
6. Attach hose from water consumer (eg. dishwasher) to Permeate outlet ¾” on BWT
bestaqua 60
7. Check that V01:Manual bypass valve (on top of Multiblock) is closed
8. Open main water valve and check for leaks

Use only trained or instructed staff. Stipulate clear staff responsibilities for operation, set-up,
maintenance and repair work.
NEVER operate the device with the cover removed.
Floor drain must be available in the immediate vicinity of the RO unit.

4Electrical connection and commissioning
1. Connect power cable and push power button on LCD panel. BWT bestaqua 60 will
automatically run sensor control test and then you will see the operational menu
2. Follow steps below to initiate rinse of membranes with feed water (Note: if BWT bestaqua
60/61/62 HQ models running with soft water - jump to chapter 5.)
3. When the reservoir is full let the transport pump operate with a large flow for 2 min. in order
to deaerate it.
4. Fill the “Start-up test” scheme (enclosed with Installation and operation manual).
5. Continuously keep the “Operation Journal” (enclosed with Installation and operation manual)
up to date according to specified intervals.

Note! If tank is full then membrane rinse procedure will stop and
go in Service.
Note! Only for BWT bestaqua 60 LT: Open concentrate valve
completely and close recirculation valve (Figure 1). Run “RO UNIT
START-UP”. After 30 minutes’ rinse the RO unit will automatically
start to produce permeate if there is consumption. But the
technician has to adjust flowrate on concentrate- and recirculation
valves (Figure 1) according to the specific RO unit model. Use
flowmeter from 451409006 “RO commissioning box” to adjust
flowrates.
Note! Only for BWT bestaqua 60 HQ: After 30 minutes’ rinse
the RO unit will automatically start to produce permeate if there is
consumption. Only flow of permeate (Figure 1, recirculation valve)
has to be adjusted according to the specific RO unit model.
Operation pressure 12.5-14.5 bar, maximum pressure 16 bar.

5Running BWT bestaqua 60 / 61/ 62 HQ with soft water (0 °dH)
BWT bestaqua 60 / 61 /62 HQ models needs to be set up when using with soft water (from
Softening unit or Antiscaling unit). Follow steps below to activate “AUTOMATIC MODE +
PRETREATMENT”. After this set-up continue commissioning in chapter 4.
