Thismanualhasbeenproducedbyanewtechnicalinformationsystem.Thisnewsystemisdesignedtodeliver
technicalinformationelectronicallythroughCDROMandinpapermanuals.AcodingsystemcalledICEhasbeen
developedtolinkthetechnicalinformationtootherProductSupportfunctionse.g.Warranty.
Technicalinformationiswrittentosupportthemaintenanceandserviceofthefunctionsorsystemsonacustomers
machine.Whenacustomerhasaconcernonhismachineitisusuallybecauseafunctionorsystemonhismachine
isnotworkingatall,isnotworkingefficiently,orisnotrespondingcorrectlytohiscommands.Whenyourefertothe
technicalinformationinthismanualtoresolvethatcustomersconcern,youwillfindalltheinformationclassifiedusing
thenewICEcoding,accordingtothefunctionsorsystemsonthatmachine.Onceyouhavelocatedthetechnical
informationforthatfunctionorsystemthenyouwillfindallthemechanical,electricalorhydraulicdevices,compo
nents,assembliesandsubassembliesforthatfunctionorsystem.Youwillalsofindallthetypesofinformationthat
havebeenwrittenforthatfunctionorsystem,thetechnicaldata(specifications),thefunctionaldata(howitworks),

attaching3categoriestoeachpieceoftechnicalinformationduringtheauthoringprocess.
ThefirstcategoryistheLocation,thesecondcategoryistheInformationTypeandthethirdcategoryistheProduct:
•LOCATIONisthecomponentorfunctiononthemachine,thatthepieceoftechnicalinformationisgoingto
describee.g.Fueltank.
•INFORMATIONTYPEisthepieceoftechnicalinformationthathasbeenwrittenforaparticularcomponentor
functiononthemachinee.g.CapacitywouldbeatypeofTechnicalDatathatwoulddescribetheamountoffuel
heldbytheFueltank.

onlybetightenedtothestrengthoftheoriginal.
2.Makesurethefastenersthreadsarecleanandthatthreadengagementisstarted.Thiswillpreventthemfrom
failingwhenbeingtightened.
3.Tightenplasticinsertorcrimpedsteeltypelocknutstoapproximately50%ofthedrytorque,appliedtothenut,
nottothebolthead.Tightentoothedorserratedtypelocknutstothefulltorquevalue.
4.TheL9(Alloy)fastenerstorquevaluesareforabolt,nut,andtwowashers.
WhenusingL9(Alloy)fasteners,donotusethevaluesinthistablefortappedholes.

Microscopiccontaminationoccurswhenveryfineparticlesofforeignmaterialareinsuspensioninthehydraulicoil.
Theseparticlesaretoosmalltoseeorfeel.Microscopiccontaminationcanbefoundbyidentificationofthefollowing
problemsorbytestinginalaboratory.Examplesoftheproblems:
(A)Cylinderrodsealleak.
(B)ControlvalvespoolsdonotreturntoNEUTRAL.
(C)Thehydraulicsystemhasahighoperatingtemperature.
Visiblecontaminationisforeignmaterialthatcanbefoundbysight,touch,orodor.Visiblecontaminationcancause
