Minimum, Maximum and Lock
TheINTP662alsooffersMinimum,Maximum,andLock
modes.Minimummodedisplaysthelowesttemperature
amongmultipletargets.Maximummodedisplaysthe
highesttemperatureamongmultipletargets.WhileLock
modecontinuouslydisplaysthetemperatureforupto
60minutes.Thisisparticularlyusefulforcontinuous
temperaturemonitoring.

Battery Installation
ReplacebatterywhenLCDbecomesdim.Poweroffthe
unitbeforeinstallingthebatteries.Amalfunctionmay
occurifthepowerisonwhenthebatteryisinstalled.Ifa
malfunctionoccurs,restartthedevice.
1.Removebatterycoverbyslidingitdownalongthe
handle.
2. Installtwo1.5VAAAbatteriesobservingpolarity
shownincompartment.

A. Temperature Scale
ToselecttemperaturereadinginFahrenheitorCelsius:
1.Pressthetriggertoturnthethermometeron.
2. PresstheMODEbuttonfourtimes.The°F or °C
symbolflashesonthedisplay.
3.PresstheSCANbuttontochangethescale.
B. Infrared Thermometer
InfraredisthedefaultmodeoftheINTP662.
Note:TheINTP662isintendedforfoodserviceuse—donotuse
forsafetyrelatedapplications.
1. Infrared Scanning
a. Distance:Spot = 8:1
Forexample,ifthe
surfaceareabeing
measuredis10"in
diameter,thenthethermometermustbewithin
80"ofthetargetforanaccuratereading.
b. Aimtheinfraredlensatthetargetandpress
thetriggertodisplaythesurfacetemperature.
The8-beamlaserlightautomaticallyilluminates
thetarget,specifyingtheapproximate
measurementareaforbettertargeting.
c. The8-beamlaserlightformsacirclethat
definestheareaofmeasure.Makesurethe
circleissmallerthantheareabeingmeasured.
Ifthelaserlightcircleislargerthanthearea
beingmeasured,thereadingwillincludeambient
temperaturesandmakethereadinginaccurate.
d. Measurementcontinuesaslongasthetrigger
ispressed.Thenewestreadingupdatesthe
display.
e. Whenthetriggerisreleased,HOLD appears on
thedisplayandthelastreadingremainsvisible
for15secondsbeforetheunitautomatically
powersoff.
2. Minimum Mode
a. Pressthetriggertoturnthethermometeron.
b. PresstheMODEbuttononce.MIN flasheson
thedisplay.
c. PressthetriggertoconfirmtheMinimumMode
anddisplaythelowesttemperatureamong
multipletargets.MIN remainsonthedisplay.
d.Thethermometercontinuestodisplaythe
minimumreadingduringeachmeasurement
perioduntiltheMODEbuttonispressedagainor
theunitpowersoff.
3. Maximum Mode
a. Pressthetriggertoturnthethermometeron.
b. PresstheMODEbuttontwice.MAX flasheson
thedisplay.
c. PressthetriggertoconfirmtheMaximumMode
anddisplaythehighesttemperatureamong
multipletargets.MAX remainsonthedisplay.
d.Thethermometercontinuestodisplaythe
maximumreadingduringeachmeasurement
perioduntiltheMODEbuttonispressedagain
ortheunitpowersoff.
4. Lock Mode
Thisisparticularlyusefulforcontinuous
temperaturemonitoring.
a. Pressthetriggertoturnthethermometeron.
b. PresstheMODEbuttonthreetimes.LOCK
flashesonthedisplay.
c. PressthetriggertoconfirmtheLockMode.
The°F or °Csymbolflashesonthedisplay.
d. Thethermometercontinuouslydisplaysthe
temperatureforupto60minutesoruntilthe
triggerispressedagain.
5. Emissivity
Everythinggivesoffacertainamountofradiation.
Emissivityisthemeasureofthisthermalradiation.
Theinfraredthermometerissuppliedwithadefault
emissivityof0.95,whichstandardformostuses.
Theemissivityofthethermometercanbechanged
from0.10(10E)to1(100E).Only experienced
personnel should attempt to make changes.
Forinformationrelatingtotheemissivityofspecific
materials,pleasecontactCDN.

b. PresstheMODEbuttonfivetimestoenter
EmissivityMode.95E flashesonthedisplay.
c. Pressthetriggertoadjusttheemissivityvalue
in0.01(1E)increments.

Note:Non-contactinfraredthermometersarenot
recommendedforuseinmeasuringthetemperatureof
shinyorpolishedmetals.
6. Error Messages
TheINTP662incorporatesvisualdiagnostic
messagesasfollows:
a. HI or LO isdisplayedwhenthetemperature
beingmeasuredisoutsidetheinfraredrange
oftheinstrument.
1.)HI indicatesthatthetemperatureishigher
than+662°F/+350°C.
2.)LO indicatesthatthetemperatureis
lowerthan-76°F/–60°C.
b. Allowaminimum30minutesforthe
thermometertostabilizetotheworking/room
temperature.

Emissivity=0.1~1,Step.01
WaveLength=8~14µm
CAUTION: Never point the unit and/or laser towards
anyone’s eyes. Do not look directly into the laser
beams — permanent eye damage may result. Keep

C. Thermocouple Probe
Important: The probe may be damaged if measurement
temperature is lower than -76°F/-50°C OR higher than
+662°F/+350°C.
1.Flipdowntheprobeuntilfullyextended.
Important: Do not twist the probe or rotate it in wrong
direction. Exceptional stress on probe may cause it to break.
CAUTION:Toavoidelectricshockandthermometerdamage,
donotusethethermocoupleprobetomeasurelivecircuitwhere
voltageexceeding24VACRMSor60VDC.
2. Inserttheprobeatleast1"/2.5cmintothefood.
3.PressthePROBEbuttontocontinuouslydisplay
thetemperatureforupto4minutesbeforetheunit
automaticallypowersoff.Thedisplayflashes.
Note:PressingthePROBEbuttonmayinterruptthelast
infraredHOLDreading.PressthePROBEbuttonagaintoreturn
toinfraredscanning.
4. Wearingaheatresistantglove,fliptheprobeback
intothecasewhenfinished.
CAUTION:ProbemaybeHOTafteruse.Alwayswearaheat
resistantglovetotouchthestainlesssteelprobeduringorjust
aftercooking.Do not touch with bare hands.
5. PressthePROBEbuttonagaintoreturntoinfrared
scanning.
D. HACCP Check
IntegratedHACCPcheckbacklightsinstantlyshowif
temperaturesarewithinHACCPguidelinesforsafe
foodtemperatures.
