the AS[01] adaptive wheelchair from DIETZ.
This wheelchair is a medical aid. In order to use it properly and avoid pos-
sible risks due to unintended use, you must become thoroughly familiar with
its operation.
FOR THIS REASON, PLEASE:
Read these operating instructions carefully before you begin to use your
new AS[01]. They contain important notes that will allow you to use the
wheelchair‘s technical advantages to the fullest extent.
You will also receive information related to the operational and trafc-rela-
ted safety of your adaptive wheelchair and nd out how to retain as much
of its value as possible.
If you require more information on product performance, please contact
your medical supplies shop.

INTENDED USE
The AS[01] wheelchair has been designed for indoor and outdoor use. It is
solely intended for self-transport and the transport of third party persons.
The AS[01] is designed for a maximum load of 125 kg or 150 kg. You can
verify this information on the nameplate attached to the frame. When atta-
ching accessories in particular (e.g., electric drives), be sure that you do not
exceed the maximum load.

This wheelchair supports individuals who are unable to walk or have
a severe walking disability due to

The AS[01] comes completely assembled from the factory. Before rst use,
you only have to unfold the wheelchair and attach the leg rests. In the follo-
wing chapter, you will nd notes on how to prepare the wheelchair for use
and how to use it.
In chapter »03 Commissioning«, you will nd explanations of all the
setting options you can make without tools to adjust the wheelchair to sa-
tisfy your needs.
In chapter »05 Settings«, from page 27 you will nd explanation on the
more complex settings such as seat height, angle, etc. for optimal adjustment.

COMMISSIONING THE WHEELCHAIR
The AS[01] comes completely assembled from the factory. Before rst use,
you only have to unfold the wheelchair and attach the leg rests. In the follo-
wing chapter, you will nd notes on how to unfold the wheelchair and pre-
pare it for use. You will also nd explanations of all the setting options you
can make without tools to adjust the wheelchair to optimally satisfy your
needs.
You will nd explanations on more complex settings such as seat height,
angle, etc. in chapter »05 Settings« from page 27.

3.1 Unfolding the wheelchair
Using both hands, press the left and right seat
tubes downward at the same time. The wheel-
chair will now unfold itself automatically.
When the wheelchair is completely unfolded,
please verify that both seat tubes are correctly
seated in their intended holders.
Next, put the back pad in place and close the
Velcro on the other side, at the lower end of the
back.

3.2 Folding the wheelchair
First undo the Velcro on the lower end of the
back pad (beneath the seat).
NOTE
The back pad can remain on the
wheelchair and must not be
removed completely.
Now grasp the centre of the seat pad at the front
and back. Pull upward. The wheelchair will now
fold itself automatically.

3.3 Attaching the leg rests
From above, insert the upper pin of the leg rest
into its intended holder.
Now swivel the leg rest to the front in the direc-
tion of travel.
You will hear and feel it snap into place.

3.4 Foot rests / Foot plate
Swivel the foot rests or foot plate (optional)
downward to put them in the correct position.
Depending on the installation side, the foot plate
can be swivelled upward towards the left or the
right.

3.5 Adjusting the back straps
First remove the back pad (see no. 3.2).
The four Velcro straps are now easily accessible.
Release the straps and adjust the length until
you have found a comfortable sitting position.
Replace the back pad.
3.6 Changing the seat depth
First release the Velcro strap at the bottom front
of the seat pad and then the strap from the seat
tubes at the sides.
Now you can push the strap to the rear under-
neath the seat. This will raise the seat 3 cm.

3.7 Changing the push handle height
(optional)
Turn the T-screws once or twice to loosen it. Now
pull or push the push handle to the required
height and re-tighten the T-screws.

3.8 Swivelling the side pieces upward
(optional)
To make it easier to sit down, get up and transfer
sideways, you can swivel the side pieces upward /
to the rear.
To do this, pull the locking lever slightly upward.
The side piece is no longer locked and you can
swivel the complete side piece to the rear /
upward.
You will hear and feel it automatically lock into
place again if you push the side piece back
downward into the starting position.
