PREPARING THE WHEELCHAIR FOR USE
Before first use, you simply have to unfold the wheelchair and attach the
leg rests. In the following chapter, you will find notes on how to unfold
the wheelchair and prepare it for use. You will also find explanations of
all the setting options you can carry out without tools to adjust the
wheelchair to optimally satisfy your needs.
In chapter »03 Putting into operation« starting on page 10, you will
find explanations of all the setting options you can carry out without
tools to adjust the wheelchair to satisfy your needs.
In chapter »05 Adjustments for individual settings« starting on
page 26, you will find explanations on the more complex settings such
as seat height, angle, etc. for optimal adjustment.
CAUTION
Risk of trapping!
When folding and unfolding your wheelchair, pay attention
to your ngers and only grip the parts as seen in the
illustrations.
NOTE
First operation should be carried out by trained personnel
of the medical supplies shop.
03 PUTTING INTO OPERATION

11
3.1 Unfolding the wheelchair
Stand in front of the wheelchair, hold on to the
side tubes at the front and push them apart.
Then press one of the seat plates down in the
front with the palm of your hand until the
wheelchair has completely unfolded.
3.2 Back pad
The flap of the backpad can be attached at the
rear side of the seatcushion by fastening the
velcro. Thus the gap between backrest and
seatcushion can be closed.

3.3 Leg rests
Hook the leg supports in and swivel them for-
wards. The leg rest will then click into place
automatically.
Once they are locked into position, the leg
rests should be fitted backlash-free. If neces-
sary, you can carefully tighten the side Allen
screws until the backlash on the leg rests has
been reduced to a minimum.
3.4 Lower leg length
The setting is correct when your thighs are hori-
zontal with the feet placed on the foot plates.
To adjust, loosen the screws at the back of the
leg rest until the lower part of the leg rest can
be extended. Put the foot plate into a comfor-
table position and tighten the screws. In order
to ensure that both sides are at the same
height, indexing has been added to the outsi-
de for better orientation.
03 PUTTING INTO OPERATION

13
3.5 Foot plates / footboard (optional)
Fold the foot plates down.
The optional footboard connects the two foot
plates together. Fit the footboard fully onto
one of the foot plates and fold the footboard
down until the opening on the opposite side
completely covers the foot plate.

adjusted using the side clamps at the back.
Firstly loosen the locking lever of the front
clamp. (1)
Loosen the two Allen screws on the side clamp
at the front and the back. (2)
Now turn the back clamp to the desired positi-
on. Support and guide the front clamp when
sliding it on the side frame and push it slightly
upwards. (3)
Then secure the Allen screws in the back
clamp.

03 PUTTING INTO OPERATION

15
Press the front clamp slightly upwards so that
the pin of the side panel is flat. Finally, secure
the two Allen screws in the front clamp.
If you continue to position the clamps to the
inside, the width of the back seat will be re-
duced. (4)
Conversely, the back seat becomes wider if
you position the clamps to the outside. (5)

3.7 Side abduction panels
The side abduction pads can be positioned
and inverted in addition to adjusting the back
area.
The standard position allows for abduction of
the leg position. (1)
The inverted position gives the thighs additio-
nal space. (2)

To get in and out of your wheelchair easily and
safely, the following tips can be helpful.
NOTE

or sliding away while getting
seated, it is helpful to place both
rear wheels against a wall.

4.5 Propelling and slowing down the
wheelchair with the push rims
The wheelchair can be manoeuvred forwards,
backwards, left and right by using the push
rims on the rear wheels.
To do this, hold the push rims with your hands
and turn the wheel towards the front or back.
Place your hand on the push rim with the
thumb in the direction of movement and form
a fist enclosing the push rim.
To slow down, let the push rim glide through
your hand in a controlled manner.
CAUTION
During hard braking manoeuv-
res the pushrims can become
quite hot.
To steer the wheelchair, slow down the push
rim on the side to which the wheelchair should
move or turn.
To turn on the spot, push one hand forwards
and the other hand backwards at the same
time.
CAUTION
When propelling your wheel-
chair, make sure that you do
not touch the tyre casing with
your thumb.

tyre and side panel/armrest!
