E-MAG Emmi-Lens User manual

Scope of delivery
- Power pack - Emmi-Lens
- Contact lens cleaning basket - Container for cleaning fluid
- Tweezers
Introduction
Traditionally, contact lenses have always been cleaned by inserting in a cleaning fluid.
Placing the contact lenses in cleaning fluid softened the contact lenses and albumin
residue on their surface was removed in stages. This process normally took 6 – 8 hours if
the contact lenses were to be cleaned correctly and effectively.
Your Emmi-Lens operates at high frequency (150 KHz) using the advantages of ultrasound
technology so that you can wear your lenses again sooner. The Emmi-Lens removes
albumin residue that has collected on the surface of your contact lenses in just 2 minutes.
Important safety instructions (Please read without fail!!!)
- Set up your Emmi-Lens so that it cannot fall into water or any other fluid.
- Never immerse you Emmi-Lens in water or any other fluid. Do not operate your Emmi-Lens
overnight, or while taking a shower or bath.
- Never touch the Emmi-Lens if it falls into water or another fluid while connected to power supply
(i.e. live!).
- Always observe the operating instructions when using the Emmi-Lens.
- Never use any accessories that have not been explicitly approved by the manufacturer.
- Never use your Emmi-Lens if the power supply cable is damaged or if it does not start operating
immediately (e.g. because it had been immersed in water). If this is the case, please get in
contact with the Service Center of EMAG AG.
- Store and keep out of reach of children at all times.
- Do not apply any heat to your Emmi-Lens and store in a dry place on an even surface.
- As many contact lenses do not have the same quality standard as Emmi-Lens, please contact
your optician or contact lens manufacturer about the compatibility of your contact lenses with
ultrasonic and their resistance to heat.
Instructions for use
o Do not fill the Emmi-Lens with any chemical cleaning substances that are not explicitly
intended for cleaning contact lenses.
o Do not overfill the cleaning concentrate container. We recommend a maximum of 4 ml.
o Never operate the Emmi-Lens without any cleaning fluid as this could cause damage
to the device.
o Do not use the Emmi-Lens to clean any other articles (e.g. rings, chains, coins etc.).
o Do no use tap water to operate the Emmi-Lens. This avoids the formation of lime scale and
the device breaking down.
o Disconnect the device from the mains power supply by removing the plug if the Emmi-Lens
is not functioning properly. Do not open the device yourself under any circumstances as
this invalidates your guarantee rights. Contact the EMAG AG Service Center.
Operating instructions
1. Clean you hands thoroughly before using. Rinse the contact lens cleaning basket out
with water before every use.
2. Open the contact lenses cleaning basket (1.).
3. Using the provided tweezers, place your contact lenses in the correct position (2.).
Position your contact lenses on the left (3.) and right busket (4.).
4. Please fill the complete stainless steel tank with a cleaning fluid recommended by
your optician (5.). The provided fluid container can be used for optimum dosing. Do
not overfill the tanks.
5. Place the cleaning basket containing the contact lenses in the device (6.).
6. Ensure that the Emmi-Lens is connected to a mains socket with continuous power
supply. Please use the provided power pack for this.
"Normal" cleaning process pushbutton
7. Press the "Normal" pushbutton to start the cleaning process. A green lamp on the
Emmi-Lens lights up. The device switches off automatically after 2 minutes. This
signals the end of the cleaning process. Noise can be heard coming from the Emmi-
Lens cleaning process. These are ultrasound oscillations and part of normal Emmi-
Lens operation. We recommend cleaning your contact lenses once a day. If you
repeat the cleaning process several times straight after another it can result in
damage to your contact lenses. Damaged contact lenses can result in eye infections.
Please clean your hands thoroughly before removing your contact lenses.
8. Never use tap water to rinse your contact lenses. Only ever use the cleaning fluid
recommended by your optician for the cleaning process.
"Intensive" cleaning pushbutton (approx. 70 °C heating)
Important!!! The device does not sterilise!! It only removes
albumin residue from the surface of the contact lenses.
Oxygen-permeable hard contact lenses are also not suitable
for this cleaning process. (approx. 70°C)
9. Clean your contact lenses intensively once a week. Proceed as described in the
operating instructions 1-6.
10. Press the "Intensive" button on the Emmi-Lens in order to clean your contact lenses
intensively. Intensive cleaning of your contact lenses has been completed when the
red lamp on the Emmi-Lens lights up.
11. Intensive cleaning ends automatically after 6 minutes.
12. Never use tap water to rinse your contact lenses. Only ever use the cleaning fluid
recommended by your optician for the cleaning process.
Cleaning the device
- Always disconnect the device from the mains socket after every normal or intensive
cleaning process.
- Empty the cleaning fluid tank after every normal or intensive cleaning process. Never reuse
fluid for cleaning process.
- Only use a dry clean cloth to dry the device.
- Never hold the device under running water.
- Remove the contact lens container and rinse under running water.
