Congratulations on the purchase of your Dakota twin bunk bed. This bed has been crafted to
the highest standards of quality and safety and will give you many years of enjoyment and practical
use. Your bunk bed can be separated into two individual twin beds if the need arises for alternate
sleeping congurations.
Several Basic safety considerations must be adhered to when using this bunk bed.
• Never allow a child under 6 years on upper bunk
• Always use the recommended size mattress (standard twin 38”x 74” (96.5cm x 188cm)
or mattress support, or both, to help prevent the likelihood of entrapment of falls
• Ensure thickness of mattress does not exceed 9 inches (22.9cm)
• Mattress must be at least 5 inches (12.7cm) below upper edge of guardrails
• Always use guardrails on both sides of upper bunk
• Do not allow horseplay on or under bed(s) and prohibit jumping on the bed
• Prohibit more than one person on upper bunk
• Always use the ladder for entering and leaving upper bunk
• If the bunk will be placed next to a wall, the guardrail that runs the full length of the bed
should be placed against the wall to prevent entrapment between the bed and the wall
• Follow the information on the warnings appearing on the upper bunk structure and
on the carton. Do not remove warning label from bed
• Periodically check and ensure that the guardrail, ladder and other components are in
their proper position, free from damage and that all connectors are tight
• Do not use substitute parts. Contact Mfg. or dealer for replacement parts
• The use of water or sleep otation mattress is prohibited
• Keep these instructions for future reference
• Use of a night light may provide added safety precaution for a child using the upper bunk
• STRANGULATION HAZARD- Never attach or hang items to any parts of the bunk bed that are
not designed for use with the bed, including but not limited to hooks, belts or jump ropes
TO HELP PREVENT serious of fatal injury from entrapment or falls:
On this insert you will nd a list of the hardware and bunk bed parts necessary for assembly, as
well as detailed instructions. Assembly is quite simple and requires only a at head or a Phillips head
screwdriver. The use of a power drill with Phillips head attachment is helpful but not necessary.
Assembly will be most easily accomplished if you take the time to carefully sort the hardware and
familiarize yourself with the function of each piece.

Assemble the twin upper bed by
attaching the short end boards to the
upper bed side rails with the pre-drilled
holes for safety rail attachment.
Insert barrel nuts into side rails.
Insert 100mm bolts through
end boards and into the barrel nuts.

Tighten 100mm bolts with the 4mm hex key provided.
Next unroll the slat bundle
(strap side down) onto side
rails distributing them evenly from
end to end. Using a Phillips head
screwdriver and 30mm slat
screws, secure the first slat on
one end, then the final slat on
the other end making sure the
slats have been distributed
evenly.Then secure the
remaining slats to the rails.
**Note: A power screwdriver
with clutch set on low
is useful here.
Insert mattress retaining board between the head board
and the wooden block on the end of the side rail.
Repeat for footboard.
Repeat steps 1-3
Use the remaing parts
to assemble the lower bunk.
Insert a bunk connector pin into each of the
four holes on the bottom bunk end boards.
Carefully place the
upper bunk assembly
on top of the assembled
lower bunk.
You may permanently affix the ladder
by using the 15mm wood screws.
NOTE: Do not affix the
ladder if you have purchased
the under bunk drawer.
Now use the hex key to
retighten all bolts so that
bunk bed assembly is rigid.
**Note: Propel nuts are pre-installed into the bed
rails and face away from the 35mm bolts as shown.
Use 35mm bolts to attach the long safety rail to
the side rail on the back wall side of the upper bed.
Attach the short
safety rail to ladder
side of the upper bed.
