Function and application
When compressed air is applied to the
connections on each side alternately,
the internal vane in the housing of the
DSM-... moves backwards and forwards.
This swivel movement is transferred to
the drive shaft.
The DSM has been designed for swi-
velling work loads where a complete
revolution is not required.
Product summary

•Make sure that these operating
instructions are supplied with the
DSM-.. when it is to be extended
using one of the above mentioned
kits.
Funktion und Anwendung
Durch wechselseitige Belüftung der
Druckluftanschlüsse schwenkt der In-
nenflügel im Gehäuse des DSM-... hin
und her. Diese Schwenkbewegung wird
auf die Abtriebswelle umgesetzt.
Das DSM wird bestimmungsgemäß zum
Schwenken von Nutzlasten eingesetzt,
die keine volle Umdrehung ausführen
müssen.

Safety conditions
These general conditions for the correct
and safe use of the product must be ob-
served at all times.
•Please observe the specified limits
(e.g. for pressures, forces, moments,
masses, speeds and temperatures).
•Please ensure that there is a supply
of correctly prepared compressed air.
•Please observe the prevailing am-
bient conditions.
•Please comply with national and
local safety laws and regulations.
•Remove all packaging such as pro-
tective wax, foils, cartons and caps
(except the plugs for the pneumatic
connections).
Voraussetzungen für den
Produkteinsatz
Allgemeine, stets zu beachtende Hin-
weise für den ordnungsgemäßen und si-
cheren Einsatz des Produkts:
•Berücksichtigen Sie die angegebe-
nen Grenzwerte für z.B. Drücke,
Kräfte, Momente, Massen, Geschwin-
digkeiten, Temperaturen.
•Sorgen Sie für ordungsgemäß aufbe-
reitete Druckluft.
•Berücksichtigen Sie die vorherr-
schenden Umgebungsbedingungen.
•Beachten Sie die Vorschriften der
Berufsgenossenschaft, des Techni-
schen Überwachungsvereins, des
VDE oder entsprechende nationale
Bestimmungen.
•Entfernen Sie alle Transportvorkeh-
rungen wie Schutzwachs, Folien, Kar-
tonagen und Kappen (außer den Ver-
schlußelementen der pneumatischen
Anschlüsse).

The individual materials can be dis-
posed of in recycling containers.
•Maintain the medium selected at the
start for the complete service life of
the product.
e.g. if non-lubricated compressed air
is selected, this should always be
used thereafter.
•Slowly pressurize the complete sys-
tem.
This will prevent sudden uncontrolled
movements from occurring.
•Please observe the warnings and in-
structions:
- on the product
- in these operating instructions.
•The product must be used in its orig-
inal state. Unauthorized modification
is not permitted.
•First read through completely all
operating instructions supplied with
the product.
You will then avoid extra costs in-
curred as a result of remedial
measures.
Die Entsorgung der einzelnen Werk-
stoffe in Recycling-Sammelbehälter
ist möglich.
•Behalten Sie die einmal gewählte Zu-
sammensetzung des Mediums über
die gesamte Produktlebensdauer bei.
Beispiel:
gewählt: ungeölte Druckluft
beizubehalten: stets ungeölte
Druckluft
•Belüften Sie Ihre gesamte Anlage
langsam.
Dann treten keine unkontrollierten
Bewegungen auf.
•Berücksichtigen Sie die Warnungen
und Hinweise
- am Produkt
- in dieser Bedienungsanleitung.
•Verwenden Sie das Produkt im Origi-
nalzustand ohne jegliche eigenmäch-
tige Veränderung.
•Lesen Sie zunächst sämtliche mit
dem Produkt ausgelieferten Bedie-
nungsanleitungen vollständig durch.
Damit ersparen Sie sich Mehrauf-
wand durch eventuelle Korrekturar-
beiten.

Einbau
mechanisch
•Behandeln Sie das DSM so, daß keine
Schäden an der Abtriebswelle auftreten.
Dies gilt besonders bei Ausführung der
nachfolgenden Punkte:
1. Plazieren Sie das DSM so, daß Sie
stets die Bedienteile erreichen können.
2. Drehen Sie mindestens zwei Schrau-
ben zur Befestigung des DSM ein.
Definition:
bewegliche Masse = Nutzlast
(+ Masse etwaiger Hebel)
Bei Verwendung des Vierkants für optio-
nale Zwecke:

•Always handle the DSM so that no
damage can occur to the drive shaft.
This applies especially with regard to
the following:
1. Position the DSM so that the operating
parts are always accessible .
2. Use at least two screws to fasten the
DSM.

3. Vermeiden Sie jegliche Querkräfte auf
den Vierkant.
Dieser dient nur als Verbindungsele-
ment für die Erweiterungsmodule
vom Typ WSM-... und KSM-... (siehe
Zubehör).
4. Stellen Sie sicher, daß beim Plazieren
der beweglichen Masse folgende Vor-
gaben eingehalten werden:
- verkantungsfreier Einbau,
- zulässige Querkraft FQ,
- zulässige Längskraft FL,
- zulässiges Massenträgheitsmoment.
Folgende Längs- und Querkräfte sind
zulässig:

Das Massenträgheitsmoment der be-
weglichen Masse sollte berechnet wor-
den sein. Hebelarme, Ausleger und Ma-
ssen am Vierkant sollten in der Rech-
nung mitberücksichtigt sein.
3. Avoid lateral forces on the square.
This serves only as a connecting el-
ement for the extension modules of
types WSM-...and KSM-... (see "Ac-
cessories").
4. When positioning the moveable mass,
make sure that the following specifica-
tions are observed:
- the module is aligned correctly,
- the permitted lateral force FQ,
- the permitted longitudinal force FL,
- the mass moment of inertia.
The following longitudinal and lateral
forces are permitted:

The mass moment of inertia of the mo-
veable mass should be calculated. Le-
ver arms, beams and masses on the
square must also be taken into account.

5. Schieben Sie die bewegliche Masse
auf die Abtriebswelle.
6. Stellen Sie sicher, daß die bewegliche
Masse nicht von der Abtriebswelle
gleiten kann.
Hierzu dient die Fläche an der Ab-
triebswelle (bzw. die Paßfederwelle
am DSM-10-...).
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß im Schwenk-
bereich des DSM
- niemand in die Schwenkrichtung
greifen kann
- keine Fremdgegenstände dorthin
gelangen können (z.B. durch ein
selbstgefertigtes Schutzgitter).
•Prüfen Sie die Notwendigkeit exter-
ner Anschläge.
Dies ist in folgenden Fällen notwen-
dig:
- bei Betrieb des DSM ohne Luft-
polster auf der Abluftseite (z.B.
nach längeren Pausen zwischen
den einzelnen Schwenkbewe-
gungen)
- bei der Notwendigkeit genauer
Schwenkwinkel-Einstellung.
5. Push the moveable mass onto the
drive shaft.
6. Make sure that the moveable mass
cannot slide down from the drive
shaft.
The surface of the drive shaft can be
used for this purpose (or the feather
key shaft on the DSM-...).
•Make sure that:
- nobody can place his or her hand
in the swivel path of the stop lever
(e.g. by means of a protective grill)
and that
- no objects lie in this path.
•Check whether external stops are
necessary.
External stops are required in the fol-
lowing cases:
- when a DSM is operated without
an air cushion on the exhaust side
(e.g. after long breaks between
individual swivel movements).
- when more exact swivel angles
are required.

Bei Verwendung von externen Anschlä-
gen und Stoßdämpfern:
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß folgende Vor-
gaben eingehalten sind:
- Auftreffpunkt im Massenschwer-
punkt S(wichtig bei exzentrischen
Massen mam Hebelarm)
- zulässige Anschlagkraft
- Mindest-Anschlagradius rmin.

Entfernen Sie die Transportsicherungen
der pneumatischen Anschlüsse.
•Verwenden Sie Drosselrückschlag-
ventile vom Typ GRLA-... oder
GRLZ-... zum Einstellen der
Schwenkgeschwindigkeit.
Diese werden direkt in die Druckluf-
tanschlüsse eingeschraubt. Folgender
Zusammenhang zwischen Geschwin-
digkeit und Drosselweise besteht:
If external stops and shock absorbers
are used,
•make sure that the following specifi-
cations are observed:
- the point of impact in the mass
centre of gravity S(important with
eccentric masses mon the lever
arm),
- the specified impact force,
- the minimum impact radius rmin.
Pneumatic
Remove the transport packaging around
the pneumatic connections.
•Use one-way flow control valves of
types GRLA-... or GRLZ-...for setting
the swivel speed.
These should be screwed directly
into the compressed air connections.
The table below shows the relation-
ship between the speed and flow
control type.
