2 Funktion und Anwendung
Ab Werk existiert der MTR−... in zwei Ausführungen:
 als Servo−Motor
 als Schritt−Motor.
In der ersten Ausführung, einem permagnenterregten elektrodynamischen
bürstenlosen Servomotor, liefert dieser Resolversignale an den übergeordneten
Regler. Diese übertragen den Drehwinkel des Motors bezogen auf eine
Nullstellung. Der Regler arbeitet in einem geschlossenen Regelkreis und regelt den
Motor in Strom, Drehzahl und Position mit hoher Genauigkeit auf vorgegebene
Sollwerte.
In der zweiten Ausführung wird ein Schritt−Motor an einer Steuerung mit
Leistungselektronik betrieben. Die Steuerung gibt dem Motor die Drehrichtung
und den Schrittwinkel in Form von Stromimpulsen (Schritten) vor. Der Motor ist
immer innerhalb seiner Kennlinien zu betreiben, da durch Überlastungen und zu
hohen Beschleunigungswerten Schritte verloren gehen können, die von der
Steuerung nicht zu erfassen sind.
Bestimmungsgemäß dient der MTR−... zum Antreiben von elektrischen Achsen.

· Berücksichtigen Sie das Gewicht des MTR−... .
Je nach Ausführung wiegt der MTR−... bis über 14 kg.

4 Voraussetzungen für den Produkteinsatz
Hinweis
Durch unsachgemäße Handhabung entstehen Fehlfunktionen.
· Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Punkte dieses Kapitels stets eingehalten werden.
Dies macht das Produktverhalten ordnungsgemäß und sicher.
· Vergleichen Sie die Grenzwerte in dieser Bedienungsanleitung mit Ihrem
aktuellen Einsatzfall (z.B. Kräfte, Momente, Massen, Geschwindigkeiten,
Temperaturen).
Nur die Einhaltung der Belastungsgrenzen ermöglicht ein Betreiben des
MTR−... gemäß der einschlägigen Sicherheitsrichtlinien.
Ein gewaltsames Verschieben der Rotorwelle reduziert unter Umständen die
Funktion einer integrierten Haltebremse.
· Sorgen Sie dafür, dass die Vorschriften für Ihren Einsatzort eingehalten werden
z.B. von Berufsgenossenschaft oder nationalen Institutionen.
· Verwenden Sie den MTR−... im Originalzustand ohne jegliche eigenmächtige
Veränderung.
· Berücksichtigen Sie die Umweltbedingungen vor Ort
(èKapitel Technische Daten").

5 Einbau
Einbau mechanisch
Hinweis
Enge Einbausituationen begünstigen einen Wärmestau.
· Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Motor ausreichend Freiraum für die Wärmeabfuhr
erhält.
· Prüfen Sie, ob der MTR−... mit den Bestelldaten übereinstimmt.
Je nach Bestellung enthalten diese Motoren eine federbelastete Haltebremse
sowie ein Getriebe. An Motoren ohne vormontiertes Getriebe ist es möglich,
Getriebe zwischenzuschalten.
· Lassen Sie Schrauben und Gewindestifte
unverändert, für die es keine unmittelbare
Aufforderung zur Veränderung in dieser
Bedienungsanleitung gibt.
· Montieren Sie den Motor an die zulässige
Achse gemäß Montageanleitung des im
Katalog empfohlenen Motoranbausatzes.
Einbau schaltungstechnisch
Hinweis
Beim Einsatz in sicherheitsrelevanten Applikationen sind zusätzliche
Maßnahmen notwendig. In Europa z.B. die Beachtung der unter der
EG−Maschinenrichtlinie gelisteten Normen.
Ohne zusätzliche Maßnahmen entsprechend gesetzlich vorgegebener
Mindestanforderungen ist das Produkt nicht als sicherheitsrelevantes Teil
von Steuerungen geeignet.

Einbau elektrisch
1. Lassen Sie den Motor zunächst von der Achse entkoppelt.
2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Controller spannungsfrei ist.
Die Wegnahme des Freigabesignals des Controllers reicht nicht aus.
Warnung
Offene Kabelenden am drehenden Motor führen unter Umständen zu
lebensgefährlicher Hochspannung.
3. Verkabeln Sie den MTR−... mit dem Controller vollständig nach Bild5 + Bild6.
Ausreichend große Querschnitte und Schirmung mit beidseitigem
Massekontakt bieten Ihnen die vorkonfektionierten Leitungen von Festo.
4. Bestromen Sie die Haltebremse. Dadurch dreht der Motor frei.
Je nach Gerätetyp entriegelt der Controller die Bremse automatisch.
5. Vollziehen Sie die Inbetriebnahme des Motors in Verbindung mit dem
Controller gemäß der Beschreibung des Controllers.

7 Wartung und Pflege
Warnung
Ablagerungen begünstigen einen Wärmestau.
· Reinigen Sie das Motorgehäuse regelmäßig von Staub.
So vermeiden Sie, dass eingebrannter Staub Feuer fangen kann.

Herunterschlagende Lasten verletzen möglicherweise Personen.
· Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Nutzlast der angetriebenen Achse in einer

2 Function and application
As shipped from the factory, there are two designs of the MTR−... :
asservomotor
asstepping motor.
The first design, a permanently excited electrodynamic brushless servomotor,
supplies resolver signals to the higher−order controller. These signals transfer the
angle of rotation of the motor related to a zero position. The controller functions in
a closed−loop control circuit and regulates the motor to the specified nominal
values for current, speed and position with a high degree of accuracy.
In the second design, a stepping motor is operated on a controller with power
electronics. The controller specifies the direction of rotation and the stepping
angle in the form of current pulses (steps). The motor must always be operated
within its characteristic curves, as overloading and excesssive acceleration values
can cause steps to be lost which are not then registered by the controller.
The MTR−... has been designed for driving electric axes.

3 Transport and storage
· Take the weight of the MTR−... into consideration.
Depending on the design, the MTR−... can weigh over 14 kg.

4 Conditions for the safe use of the product
Note
Improper handling can result in malfunctions.
· Make sure that the specifications in this chapter are always observed.
The product will then function correctly and reliably.
· Compare the maximum values in these operating instructions with your actual
application (e.g. forces, torques, masses, speeds, temperatures).
The MTR−... can only be operated in accordance with the relevant safety
guidelines if the maximum loading limits are observed.
The use of force to move the rotor shaft will, under some circumstances,
reduce the functioning of an integrated holding brake.
· Follow the regulations applicable to the place of use and comply with national
and local regulations.
· Use the MTR−... in its original state. Unauthorized product modification is not
permitted.
· Take into account the prevailing ambient conditions
(èChapter Technical Data").

5 Installation
Mechanical installation
Note
Narrow installation situations can cause an accumulation of heat.
· Make sure that the motor has sufficient space for heat dissipation.
· Check whether the MTR−... matches the specifications ordered.
Depending on the order, these motors contain a spring−loaded holding brake
as well as gears. On motors without prefitted gears, it is possible to interpose
gears.
·Donot modify the settings of screws and
threaded pins if there is no direct
requirement to do so in these operating
instructions.
· Fit the motor onto the permitted axis
in accordance with the assembly
instructions for the motor mounting kit
recommended in the catalogue.
Installing circuitry
Note
If used in safety−relevant applications, additional measures are necessary.
In Europe, for example, the standards in the EC machinery directive must be
observed.
Without additional measures in accordance with statutory minimum
requirements, the product is not suitable for use in safety−related sections of
control systems.

Fitting electric components
1. First leave the motor uncoupled from the axis.
2. Make sure that the controller is switched off.
Cancelling the Controller Release signal is not sufficient.
Warning
Open cable ends on the rotating motor can, under some circumstances, lead to
dangerously high voltages.
3. Completely connect the MTR−... to the controller as shown in Fig.5 + Fig.6.
The ready to use cables from Festo offer sufficiently large cross sections and
screening with earth contact on both sides.
4. Apply current to the holding brake. The motor will then rotate freely.
Depending on the type of device, the controller will unlock the brake automati
cally.
5. Complete the commissioning of the motor in conjunction with the controller in
accordance with the controller manual.

6 Operation
Warning
Hot parts of the housing can cause burning.
· Make sure that people and objects cannot come into direct contact with the
motor.
7 Care and maintenance
Warning
Deposits can cause an accumulation of heat.
· Clean the motor housing of dust regularly.
In this way you can prevent dust deposits from catching fire.
