Der SMEO-4(U)-...- 230 darf ohne
Strombegrenzungswiderstand nicht zur
Ansteuerung von 230 V AC (115 V AC)
Eingangskarten von SPS-Steuerungen
verwendet werden. Die SPS-Eingangs-
kapazität bewirkt eine zu hohe Eins-
chaltleistung für die SMEO-4(U)-...
Der SMEO-4(U)-... wird in folgenden

The SMEO-4(U)-...- 230 must not be
used for controlling the 230 V AC (115 V
AC) input cards of programmable logic
controllers without a current limiting re-
sistor. The PLC input capacity effects
too great a switch-on capacity for the
SMEO-4(U)-...

Voraussetzungen für den
Produkteinsatz
Allgemeine, stets zu beachtende Hinwei-
se für den ordnungsgemäßen und siche-
ren Einsatz des Produkts:
•Halten Sie die angegebenen Grenz-
werte ein (z.B. Kräfte, Momente,
Temperaturen, elektrische Daten).
•Berücksichtigen Sie die vorherrschen-
den Umgebungsbedingungen.
•Beachten Sie die Vorschriften der
Berufsgenossenschaft, des Techn. Ü-
berwachungsvereins, die VDE-
Bestimmungen oder entsprechende
nationale Bestimmungen.

•Entfernen Sie alle Transportvor-
kehrungen wie Schutzwachs, Folien,
Kappen und Kartonagen.
Die Entsorgung der einzelnen Werk-
stoffe in Recycling-Sammelbehälter
ist möglich.
•Verwenden Sie das Produkt im Orig-
inalzustand ohne jegliche eigenmäch-
tige Veränderung.
Einbau
mechanisch
•Verwenden Sie einen Befestigungs-
bausatz laut Zubehör.
Für die Montage am Zylinder ist die
Klemmschraube vollständig herauszu-
drehen.
•Berücksichtigen Sie, daß der Befesti-
gungsbausatz kraftschlüssig mit dem
Zylinder verbunden ist.
Durch auftretende Zugkräfte am
SME(O)-4-... kann sich der Befesti-
gungsbausatz verschieben.
•Remove all packaging such as protec-
tive wax, foils, caps and cardboard.
The individual materials can be dispo-
sed of in recycling containers.
•Use the product in its original condi-
tion without undertaking any unauth-
orized modifications.
Fitting
Mechanical
•Use a fastening kit as mentioned in
the section "Accessories".
If the SMEO-4(U)-... is to be fitted
onto the cylinder, the locking screw
must be removed completely.
•Take into account that the fastening
kit is held by friction force against the
cylinder.
The fastening kit may shift if there are
tensile forces on the SME(O)-4-... .

Vermeiden Sie stromführende Kabel in
der Nähe des SMEO-4(U)-...
Dadurch verhindern Sie magnetisch in-
duzierte Fehlschaltungen.
Bei Auftreten von magnetischen Störfel-
dern (z.B. beim Schweißen):
•Schützen Sie den SMEO-4(U)... vor
Fremdbeinflussung durch ferritische
Abschirmung (z.B. mit Trafoblech).
Die Abschirmung muß außerhalb des
Nahbereichs des SMEO-4(U)-... erfol-
gen.
Avoid current-carrying cables in the vici-
nity of the SMEO-4(U)-...
In this way you can avoid magnetically
induced incorrect switching.
If magnetic fields of interference occur
(e.g. during welding):
•Protect the SMEO-4(U)... against out-
side influences with a ferritic screen-
ing (e.g. with transformer sheet steel).
The screening must not lie in the im-
mediate vicinity of the SMEO-4(U)-...

Bei Parallelanordnung von Zylindern mit
Magnetkolben:
•Plazieren Sie die SMEO-4(U)-... mö-
glichst weit auseinander.
Damit minimieren Sie die Störungs-
gefahr durch andere Magnete.
•Prüfen Sie die Abstände der Zylinde-
ranordnung je nach Einbauvariante:
Folgende Mindestabstände sind erfor-
derlich:
If cylinders with solenoid pistons are ar-
ranged parallel:
•Place the SMEO-4(U)-... switches as
far apart as possible.
In this way you can minimize the dan-
ger of interference from other so-
lenoids.
•Check the spacing of the cylinders
for each fitting arrangement.
The following minimum distances
must be observed:

Bei SMEO-4(U)-... mit Zweileiteran-
schluß:
•Verwenden Sie diese SMEO-4(U)-...
nur mit Last.
Sie erzeugen sonst einen Kurzschluß.
Bei Betrieb mit Gleichspannung:
•Achten Sie auf richtige Polung des
Schalters.
Sonst spricht die Leuchtdiode nicht
an.
Bei hohen induktiven oder kapazitiven
Lastspitzen:
•Verwenden Sie eine externe Schutz-
beschaltung.
Sonst ist die Funktonssicherheit ge-
fährdet.
(siehe DIN 43235)
Zur sicheren elektrischen Trennung der
Betriebsspannung:
•Verwenden Sie einen Trenntransfor-
mator nach EN 60742 mit min-
destens 4kV Isolationsfestigkeit.

The SMEO-4(U)-... with two-wire con-
nection
•should only be used under load.
Otherwise there will be a short-circuit.
If the SMEO-4(U)-... is used with direct
current,
•please check that the switch is wired
with the correct polarity.
Otherwise the LED will not light up.
With high inductive or capacitive load pe-
aks,
•you must use an external protective
circuit.
Otherwise correct functioning cannot
be guaranteed.
(see DIN 43235)
For reliable electrical isolation of the
operating voltage:
•Use an isolating transformer as per
EN 60742 with at least 4kV isolation-
resistance.

•Verkabeln Sie den SMEO-4-(U)-...
nach Plan a), b) oder c).
Bei SMEO-4(U)-... in Steckerversion:
•Drehen Sie die Zugentlastungsmut-
tern der Dosen max. mit 0,3 Nm fest.
Bei SMEO-4(U)-... in Kabelversion:
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Kabel fol-
gendermaßen verlegt sind:
- quetschfrei
- knickfrei
- dehnungsfrei.

•Wire the SMEO-4-(U)-...according to
diagram a), b) or c).
With SMEO-4(U)-... in plug version,
•tighten the strain relief nuts of the
sockets with max. 0.3 Nm.
With SMEO-4(U)-... in cable version,
•make sure that the cables are:
- not squashed
- not bent
- not stretched.
See "Technical specifications" for the
permitted bending radii.

•Positionieren Sie den Zylinder-Kol-
ben an der Stelle, die Sie mit dem
SMEO-4 abfragen wollen.
•Verschieben Sie den SMEO-4(U)-...

•Starten Sie einen Probelauf.
•Beobachten Sie, ob der SME(O)-4
zum richtigen Zeitpunkt schaltet.
•Wiederholen Sie, falls notwendig, die
Positionierung des SME(O)-4.
Bedienung und Betrieb
•Beachten Sie folgenden Zusammen-
hang:
Je höher die Schaltfrequenz ist, bei
der der Schalter eingesetzt wird,
desto eher wird die Lebensdauer-
grenze erreicht.
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß keine Zug-
kräfte auf das Anschlußkabel des
SME(O)-4 ausgeübt werden.
•Tighten the locking screw (A) max.
0.5 Nm
•Start a test run.
•Check to see if the SME(O)-4
switches at the correct time.
•If necessary, repeat the positioning
of the SME(O)-4.
Operation
•Please note that the higher the
switching frequency, the sooner the
service life of the switch will expire.
•Make sure that there are no tensile
forces on the connecting cable of the
SME(O)-4.
