Funktion und Anwendung
Der SMTO-1-... ist für die Abfrage von
Kolbenstellungen an Zylindern vorgese-
hen.
Die interne kontaktlose Elektronik wird
magnetisch betätigt.
Der SMTO-1-... schaltet im angeschlos-
senen Zustand ein elektrisches Signal.

Function and use
The SMTO-1-... is to be used for interro-
gating piston positions on cylinders.
The internal contactless electronic parts
are actuated magnetically.
When connected, the SMTO-1-... swit-
ches an electrical signal.

Voraussetzungen für den
Produkteinsatz
Allgemeine, stets zu beachtende Hin-
weise für den ordnungsgemäßen und si-
cheren Einsatz des Produkts:
•Halten Sie die angegebenen Grenz-
werte ein (z.B. Kräfte, Momente,
Temperaturen, elektrische Daten).
•Berücksichtigen Sie die vorherrschen-
den Umgebungsbedingungen.
•Beachten Sie die Vorschriften
der Berufsgenossenschaft,
des Techn. Überwachungsvereins,
die VDE-Bestimmungen oder
entsprechende nationale Bestimmun-
gen.
•Entfernen Sie alle Transportvorkeh-
rungen wie Schutzwachs, Folien Kap-
pen und Kartonagen.
Die Entsorgung der einzelnen Werk-
stoffe in Recycling-Sammelbehälter
ist möglich.
•Verwenden Sie das Produkt im Origi-
nalzustand ohne jegliche eigenmäch-
tige Veränderung.

sed of in recycling containers.
•Use the product in its original conditi-
on without undertaking any unauthori-
zed modifications.

Einbau
mechanisch
Zur Änderung der Abgangsrichtung von
Kabel oder Stecker um 180° (z.B. an
Bünden nach innen):
•Stecken Sie die Befestigungplatte ge-
mäß Bild 3 um.
•Plazieren Sie den SMTO-1-... samt
Befestigungsbausatz verschiebbar
am Zylinder.
•Vermeiden Sie stromführende Kabel
in der Nähe des SMTO-1-....
Dadurch verhindern Sie induzierte
Fehlschaltungen.
Fitting
Mechanical
In order to turn the cable or plug outlet
by 180° (e.g. inwards on collars):
•Turn the fastening plate around as
shown in Fig. 3.
•Place the SMTO-1-... together with
the fastening kit on the cylinder but
do not fasten.
•Do not place current-carrying cables
in the vicinity of the SMTO-1-... .
In this way you can avoid induced
incorrect switching.

Bei Auftreten von magnetischen Stör-
feldern (z.B. beim Schweißen):
•Schützen Sie den den SMTO-1-...
durch eine ferritische Abschirmung
vor Fremdbeinflussung (z.B. mit
Trafoblech).
Bei Parallelanordnung von Magnetzylin-
dern:
•Plazieren Sie die SMTO-1-... mög-
lichst weit auseinander.
Damit minimieren Sie die Störungs-
gefahr durch andere Magnete.

•Sorgen Sie für eine ausreichende Be-
triebsspannung.
Der Spannungsabfall am Näherungs-
schalter beträgt maximal 3 V.
Dieser addiert sich zum Spannungs-
abfall in Reihe geschalteter Verbrau-
cher. Die minimal zulässige Betriebs-
spannung jedes einzelnen Verbrau-
chers darf nicht unterschritten wer-
den.

With magnetic flux densities occur (e.g.
during welding):
•Protect the SMTO-1-... from outside
influences with ferritic screening
(e.g. with transformer sheet steel).
If magnetically-actuated cylinders are
arranged parallel:
•Place the SMTO-1-... as far from
each other as possible in order to
minimize danger of interference from
other solenoids.
Electrical
•Please ensure that the operating volt-
age is sufficient.
The voltage drop on the proximity
switch is maximum 3 V.
This drop amounts to a voltage drop
in series-connected current-consu-
ming devices. The minimum permit-
ted operating voltage of each indivi-
dual current-consuming device must
not drop below the level specified.

Bei allen SMTO-1-...:
•Verdrahten Sie den SMTO-1-... nach
Plan a), b), c) oder d).
Schutzbeschaltungen gegen induktive
und kapazitive Lastspitzen sind im
SMTO-1-... eingebaut.
Bei SMTO-1-... in Steckerversion:
•Drehen Sie die Überwurfmuttern der
Dosen von Hand max. mit 0,3 Nm
fest.
Bei SMTO-1-... in Kabelversion:
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Kabel fol-
gendermaßen verlegt sind:
- quetschfrei
- knickfrei,
- dehnungsfrei.
Zulässige Biegeradien: siehe "Techni-
sche Daten"
With all switches of type SMTO-1-...:
•connect the SMTO-1-... as shown in
diagram a), b), c) or d).
The SMTO-1-... has been fitted with a
protective circuit for protection
against inductive and capacitive load
peaks.
With SMTO-1-... in plug version:
•Tighten the union nuts of the sockets
by hand with max. 0.3 Nm.
With SMTO-1-... in cable version:
•Ensure that the cables are:
- not squashed
- not bent at an angle
- not stretched.
See "Technical specifications" for
permitted bending radii.

Inbetriebnahme
•Schalten Sie die Betriebsspannung
ein.
•Positionieren Sie den Zylinder-Kol-
ben an der Stelle, die Sie mit dem
SMTO-1-... abfragen wollen.
•Verschieben Sie den SMTO-1-... ent-
lang der Zylinderlängsachse bis er
umschaltet. Die Kontatktfläche muß
am Zylinderrohr anliegen.
•Drehen Sie folgende Schrauben fest:
- Klemmschraube: max. 2,9 Nm
- Gewindestift: max. 1,0 Nm
Ausbau und Reparatur
•Lösen Sie die elektrischen Verbin-
dungen des SMTO-1.
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß das Feder-
blech nicht unkontrolliert wegspringt.
Es steht unter mechanischer Span-
nung.
•Ziehen Sie das Federblech vorsichtig
vom Zapfen der Befestigungsplatte.
Commissioning
•Switch on the operating voltage.
•Place the cylinder piston at the positi-

•Push the SMTO-1-... along the cylin-
der longitudinal axis until it switches.
The contact surface must lie against
the cylinder barrel.
•Tighten the following screws:
- locking screw max. 2.9 Nm
- threaded pin max. 1.0 Nm
Dismantling and repairs
•Loosen the electrical connections of
the SMTO-1.
•The spring plate is under mechanical
tension and must be prevented from
jumping away.
•Pull the spring plate carefully from
the pivot of the fastening plate.

Beim Austausch des SMTO-1 gegen ei-
nen anderen SMTO-1:
•Lassen Sie den Befestigungsbausatz
am Zylinder angeschraubt.
Ein neues Positionieren ist dann in
der Regel nicht erforderlich.
