READ THE OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Service of the Console
The console allows to:
-set the chopper card for a personalised behaviour of the traction motor
-read the type of the alarm for a correct and easy trouble shooting
-test the different electric values and the state of the electric circuit relative to the traction
Use of the Console
The use of the instrument is very easy and comparable to one of the most common electronic devices
(such as mobile phones).
The sequence to follow always for the console connection is:
1. SWITCH OFF THE GENERAL KEY of the machine
2. take off the connector E from the chopper
3. connect the console in place of the connector E. If the operation connection results to be difficult,
check that the connector is positioned in the correct direction.
4. switch on the key and work with the console
5. quit from all the programs (main menu of the ignition) and SWITCH OFF THE GENERAL KEY of the
machine
6. disconnect the console connector and plug in the connector E
THE WRONG OPERATION SEQUENCE CAN EASILY COMPROMISE
THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE CHOPPER CARD OR OF THE CONSOLE

Menu of the Console
HEADING: the features of the console and of the chopper card: voltage and maximum current of the
chopper card, the working hours of the chopper card.
PARAMETER CHANGE: in this menu the parameters can be changed to personalise the machine. The
parameters that can be modified are : CUT BACK SPEED 1 (minimum speed machine) and the CUT BACK
SPEED 2 (medium speed machine). All the other parameters are decided in Fimap and they are
related to the traction motor. It is forbidden to change them without previous Fimap
authorisation.
TESTER: the quantities of the electric characteristics (traction motor voltage, state of power switch =
closed/open ...) are showed in this menu.
SAVE: this permits, once the parameters have been changed, to enter the new setting in a storage
location of the console.
RESTORE: this permits to restore on the chopper card a parameter setting which has been entered in
the console.
ALARMS: indicates a list of the last five alarms occurred on the machine. According to the alarm a
specific corrective action is adopted (see following paragraph).
PROGRAM VACC: this section is used to teach the chopper about the potentiometer which is assembled
on the machine. It is an operation to be carried when there is the alarm Vacc not ok, when the
pedal accelerator is being replaced, when the chopper card is being replaced. A wrong relation
between the potentiometer and the chopper card causes the machine stop.

Alarms and Decoder
The chopper card visualises an anomaly on two levels of information
1. through a red alarm led which blinks for a quantity of times relative to the type of anomaly
2. through a message on the console that specifies more details on the nature of the anomaly.
Following table reports for each alarm the possible anomaly and of how to proceed on the machine.

The first check recognises a voltage VMN lower than the
25% of the battery voltage

-wrong connections on the motor
-motor current leakage to the ground

-check that the motor terminals are well isolated from the
motor casing both inside and outside the motor. Verify that
there is not dirt that causes current leakage between the
terminals and the motor body
-verify that the motor is not wet and in case dry with an air
flow
-check that the connections on the motor and on the
chopper card are correct (verify the type of traction motor
assembled, the correct wiring and the connections on the
chopper VMN, positive and negative)
if the problem persists replace first the chopper card and, if
necessary, also the motor
3 VMN HIGH
Starting test check possible faults on the power circuit
branch .

-chopper power branch damaged

4 VACC NOT OK
The chopper card recognizes an anomaly in the mechanical
stroke of the accelerator
Possible causes
-the operator switched on the machine with the
accelerator pressed down or he pressed down the
accelerator before the selection of forward or backward
traverse
-the seat microswitch does not work
-the potentiometer and/or the chopper card has been
changed and the relating values between the two
components are to be re-programmed
-a cable between the potentiometer and the chopper card is
interrupted
-the potentiometer is faulty
-the PROGRAM VACC (see chapter Adjustment and
Inspection) has not been carried out correctly
Actions
- check the correct sequence to get traverse
-check the continuity of connections between the
potentiometer accelerator and chopper card
-re-program the chopper card with PROGRAM VACC (see
chapter Adjustment and Inspection)
- check the functionality of the potentiometer (it could be
broken) and replace it if necessary (re-programming then
the chopper card)
5 I HIGH AT STAND
The chopper card tests if on rest the signal of the
current is zero. Otherwise, it blocks the traction

-defective current sensor
-fault in the feedback circuits, or in the logic or on the
chopper card

Test on working condition: the negative point brings is
at a wrong

1. Switch OFF the general key and plug in the special
connector. The OFF condition is necessary to save the
memory card from loss of data).

Tester function
After having connectec the console, the heading message will
appear. This notice say the chopper model, the default machine
where it is (or was) installed and the worked hours of the device.
Enter in the TESTER submenu and using the ROLL UP button you
can see all the tester menu items.
Verify that VMN (which means the voltage on the negative
output pin) is > 30% (in reference to the battery voltage VB).
If an error message regarding this appear, you need to replace the chopper because the power stage is
damaged.
Verify the direction microswitch (MA forward direction and MI
backward direction).
Verify the forward direction:
•Push the seat microswitch;
•Move the direction selector switch for a forward direction;
•Push the accelerator pedal;
On the console the following message should appear.
Verify the backward direction:
•Push the seat microswitch;
•Move the direction selector switch for a backward direction;
•Push the accelerator pedal;
On the console the following message should appear.
If the message on the console is different verify the functioning of the seat microswitch, the direction
micriswitch (on the pedal assembly) and of the direction selector switch.
WARNING: Be sure that the traction wheel is lifted up before performing this test.
Verify the potentiometer:
Without pressing the accelerator pedal the message on the onsole
should be like the picture one.
Push the pedal till its end-stroke to verify the potentiometer
functioning. When the pedal is totally pressed the message on
the console should be similar to he picture one. Verify that the
value increasing is linear.
If some problems occurred verify the potentiometer and if necessary replace it.
To perform this kind of test it is not necessary to press the seat microswitc nor the direction selector.
Verify the current which flows in the traction motor. The first
value is the current which is flowing in the motor at the reading
moment, the second one (70A) is the maximun chopper current.
When the machine is steady the current has to be zero.

If some anomaly are shown is necessary to verify the traction motor, the connections between the chopper
card and the traction motor and verify the chopper.

Verify the temperature on the power stage of the chopper card.
The temperature should be the same of the environment one only
if the machine had been turned off for at least 1 hour and just
turned on.
If some anomalies are shown verify the thightness of the connections between the chopper card and the
traction wheel, the traction motor carbon brushes and the traction motor conditions. If the problem is not
solved the temperature probe of the card is fault and the entire card has to be replaced.
Verify the battery voltage.
Compare the battery voltage value read with a voltmeter with the
one read with the chopper console. The two values should be
equal.
If the difference between the values is greater than 0,5V, verify the supply cables, the battery poles conditions
and the connector that supply the chopper card.
Verify the motor voltage. The value you can read is the voltage
on the motor at the reading moment.
If the machine is steady the motor voltage has to be zero.
At maximun speed (and when the gear selector is on the “rabbit”)
the motor voltage has to be equal to VB (battery voltage).
If some anomaly occurs, verify the chopper-traction motor connections and the speed reduction microswitch
and selector.
Verify the speed reductions.
Turn the steering wheel until the front wheel has the axle parallel
with the machine axle. After done that verify that the message on
the console card is like the picture one.
Turn the steering wheel until you hear the cut back speed
microswitch switch. Verify that on the console the following
message appear.
In case some anomalies occur, verify the right functioning of the cutback speed microswitch and the right
wiring of it.

Functional inspection electric layout
1. Remove the battery connector
2. Verify the cleanliness and the tightening of the power cable
connections. . (on power switches, fuses, motors, batteries, ecc.)
3. Re-connect the battery connector
4. Check the signal lamps and switches:
-check forward and backward movement, speed reductions,
acceleration and braking
-check functionality manipulators up - down brushes base
and squeegee
-check signal lamp up – down brushes base
-check switch with signal lamp and brushes motor (running
with the machine)
-check switch with signal lamp and solenoid valve (running
with the machine)
-check switch with signal lamp and suction motor
-check the efficiency of the floating tap on the recovery tank:
with the suction motor working and with the tank full the
tap has to close the aspiration.
-check operation AUT-MAN relative to the working of the
squeegee
-check the parking brake (lamp and efficiency)
-check operation of the hourmeter
-check operation of the horn
-check the operation of the backward alarm
Adjusting bending speed reduction microswitch
1. On the crown of the front wheel is present one support and a
microswitch for the regulation of the speed in curve. You must
regulate the microswitch in way that the micro is pressed in
forward or reverse gear (always leaving a small game) and when
turn right or left the micro is opened.

Water unit inspection
1. Check the cleanliness and the operation of the solution filter
2. Fill the solution tank and check there is no leakage on the
water circuit
3. Verify there is no leakage on the solenoid valve and
especially on its hoses connections and on the water cock
4. Check if the detergent solution falls down regularly and
uniformly along the cleaning width
5. Fill the recovery tank and check the sealing
6. Check that the hose and the exhaust plug do not have any
leakages
7. On the solution pump inlet the flow passes through an
adjustable narrow neck to get the right uniform water
spreading on the floor; to increase the water flow please
increase the diameter of this throttled pump inlet .
Suction unit inspection
1. Check the cleanliness and the functionality of the filter and
of the float system.
2. Check the air sealing between the tap and the recovery tank.
3. Check the sealing on both suction hoses and squeegee hose
connection terminals.
4. Check the cleanliness and the functionality of the black box
and the pipe.

Brush head frame adjustments (for both cylindrical and rotating brush head)
For the general check please verify the following brush head
level adjustments:
1. On the right side the length of the two rods has to be:
•the lowest should be about 188mm (7,40 inches)
between the center of the two bolts
•the distance in the upper most has to be about 187mm
(7,36 inches)
2. On the left side the length of the two rods has to be:
•the lowest should be about 198mm (7,67 inches)
between the centre of the two bolts
•the distance in the upper one has to be about 200mm
(7,63 inches)
3. to adjust the length, release the nuts and screw or unscrew
the rods
4. with the above-mentioned adjustments the rotating brushes
should be lifted of about 3-4mm
(0.12 inches) on the front
when the rear edge of the brushes is touching the floor. In
case adjust the rods in order to get this situation.

Up-down microswitches adjustments for the brush head
5. On the actuator’s support of the brush base are the
microswitches with corresponding stops:
•The micro switch nr. 1, is positioned in the upper part and
refers to the upward movement; the corresponding stop must
be adjusted, so that the bogie on the frame causes that the
micro switch snaps; thus control in upper position that it does
not pushes to much on the frame.
•The micro switch nr. 3, is positioned
in the lowest point of
the micro box, and refers to the downward movement;
consider that this is a security micro, therefore it do not
work normally and is activated only if the brushes are not
assembled and the basement is lowered to much, in order to
avoid that the actuator is blocked. Adjust the micro in the
way that the shaft does not come out more than 30mm.
Put down the basement with brushes, verify that the actuator has
a movement of about 5-10mm and then the screw
turn on the
end stroke microswitch.
Rotating brush head frame adjustments
6. Check that the oil level is visible inside the taps on the
reduction box.
7. Check the belts’ condition
8. Check the cleanliness of the slots on the motor body. It is
important for the motor cooling
9. Check the motor carbon-brushes condition
Cylindrical brush head adjustments
To adjust the cylindrical brushes inclination adjust the screw on
the top of the side brush cover. In this way the brush end will
move up or down. The target is to have two uniform tracks of
about four centimetres (1,57 inches) wider.

Splash guards adjustment: operate on the screw to adjust the
height of the rubber that must touch the floor for all its
length.
Microswitches adjustment for the squeegee unit
Up limit microswitch adjustment (the nearest to the motor
actuator):
1. Unscrew the cam fixing screw in order to have the cam free.
Lift the squeegee until the distance between the bottom
edge of the rubber and the floor is within 3 and 4cm
(between 1,18 and 1,57 inches)
2. Rotate the cam until the microswitch is switched on and fix
the cam in this position.
After the above-mentioned adjustment the low limit stop
microswitch will be automatically switched on at the right
position when the squeegee will be lowered.
3. When the cam switches on the microswitch, the distance
between the metal lever and the body of the two
microswitches must be at least 1mm. In case bend a little
bit the microswitch support.
Squeegee adjustment
1. Release the two knobs for the wheel height adjustment
2. Adjust the squeegee inclination in order to get the rubber
uniformly pressed on the floor along the whole squeegee
length. Operate with the proper knob.
3. Tight the stopper nut to fix the tuning.
4. Screw the two knobs in order to lift a little bit the squeegee
and get an inclination of the rubber of about 30° on the floor
(see also use and maintenance book)
5. The fourth knob is only to adjust the pressure of the
automatic releasing of the squeegee in case of shocks
against side obstacles.

Brake and steering adjustment
1. Steering tension chain adjustment:
•remove the foot board
•release the lock nut and screw the M8 screw to give the
right tension in order to have a good and suitable rotation
of the steering wheel
•tight the lock nut in order to fix the adjustment
2. brake pedal stroke adjustment:
•Release the lock nut and adjust the position of the
respective fork on the rod
•Check the wheel has to turn freely, brake uniformly and
the pedal must be locked in the parking brake condition.
•Just in case of a not balanced brake effect or no operating
parking brake condition please set properly the two forks
(left and right side) on the braking rods.
•Remember to tight the lock nuts to fix the adjustments.
Reductors oil
1. Check the oil level using the glassy plug. The oil level haven’ t to
be higher of the red point. Use Shell OMALA 460 (about 0.35kg)
or equivalent oil.
To add oil use the upper plug.
2. As before, check the oil level using the glassy tap. The level must
reach the red point but don’t exceed it. Use Shell OMALA 220 or
FINA GIRAN 220 oils (about 0.25-0.35 kg) or equivalent oils.

Inspections functions of the machine
Check the functionality of the seat microswitch;
Check the functionality of the acceleration pedal;
Check the functionality of the brush base;
Check the functionality of the brush motor;
Check the functionality of the solenoid valve and the pump;
Check the functionality of the squeegee;
Check the functionality of the suction motor;
Check the functionality of the emergency and parking brake;
Check the functionality of the steer;
Check the battery conditions, the holdfasts and the cables;
Check the functionality of the horn and the buzzer of the reverse gear;
Check the functionality of the winking light.
Test the machine functions
Fill the tank with water and check if there are any leakages.
Check the tightness of the water system and that the water outflow on both brushes is regularly.
Adjust the inclination and the wheels of the squeegee and carry out a test.
Adjust the inclination of the brush base and carry out a test.
Adjust through the knobs the lateral splashguards and carry out a test.
Check the efficiency of the parking and emergency brake: brake with max. speed and check that the
wheels are blocked contemporarily.
Check that the machine launched with max. speed, with full tank, will stop after releasing the
acceleration pedal within 85-90 cm. In contrary case, check the parameters of the console
again, in particular “Release Braking”.
Check the function of the seat micro-switch.
Check forward and reverse motion, acceleration and braking.
Final inspection
Check all the functions: scrubbing, suction, forward and reverse gear and braking.
