For Best Results

1. Install four “AA” (LR6) alkaline batteries inside
the unit.
2. Be sure the reset switch (located on the bottom of
the unit) is in the On position.
3. Your Power Touch™Baby unit comes with a Baby
Animals Book that does not require a cartridge.
Additional books (sold separately) come with a
cartridge that is required for use.
Hint: The cartridge included with your Power Touch™
Baby unit is non-functional. It has been included to
show you where to insert other cartridges included
with other books (sold separately).
4. With the book closed, and the cover upright, fit the
top of the book binding into the top of the unit.
Now, lower the other end of the binding into the
bottom of the unit. Push to “snap” into place.
5. Flick the On/Off switch and slide the volume switch
to a comfortable listening level.

to hear stories, play music and much more!

Note to Parents
Listening to the rhythm and cadence of the words while reading a book provides a rich
language model for baby. Seeing written words on a page and hearing those words tell a
story or describe something lays the foundation for the "mechanics" of reading.
When first introducing this system to baby, be sure to use it like any book you would
read to your child. Take a moment to point to an object on the page and describe it. For
example, you might say, "See the bird." Point to it and then add more description, like
"The bird is flying." Try this with other objects on the page too. If your baby seems to be
responsive to the idea of object identification, you might play a "find" game. "Where's the
bird? Show me where the bird is on the page. That's right. The bird is flying in the sky."
This engages your baby in the book, even before learning how to read the words.
As your child grows into toddlerhood, words may begin to be recognized as part of the
"ABC's" and a few sight words or symbols might be recognized, especially logos of familiar
restaurants, stores or household items. This is an exciting time for learning! Take cues
from your child, and offer books and reading opportunities to continue an interest and joy
of reading. Research has shown that children who are read to very early, learn to love
reading and become better at it!
