The Slimdrive EMD Invers door drive is designed for the automatic opening and closing of swing-door single ac-
tion doors. The door opens mechanically in case of a power failure or an alarm.
The Slimdrive EMD Invers is suitable:
solely for use in dry roomsà
in entrances and interior areas of pedestrian trac in commercial plants and public areasà
in private areas.à
The Slimdrive EMD Invers
is designed for use at RWA incoming air doorsà
is designed for use at escape and rescue routesà
may not be used at re or smoke proof doorsà
may not be used for hazardous areas.à
Any other use than the proper use, such as permanent manual operation, as well as all changes to the product
are impermissible.

3.2 Standards
The following are to be taken into consideration during the development and operation of the drive:

3.4 Safety instructions
àThe prescribed mounting, maintenance and repair work must be performed by properly trained personnel
authorised by GEZE.
àThe country-specic laws and regulations are to be observed during safety-related tests.
àGEZE shall not be liable for injuries or damage resulting from unauthorized modication of the system.
àGEZE shall not be liable if products from other manufacturers are used with GEZE equipment. Only original
GEZE parts may be used for repair and maintenance work as well.
àThe connection to the power supply must be made by a professional electrician.
Perform the power connection and safety earth conductor test in accordance with DIN VDE 0100-610.
àUse a customer-accessible 10-A automatic circuit-breaker as the line-side disconnecting device.
àProtect the display programme switch against unauthorised access.
àIn accordance with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, a risk analysis must be performed and the door system
identied in accordance with CE Identication Directive 93/68/EEC before commissioning the door system.
àObserve the latest versions of guidelines, standards and country-specic regulations, in particular:
àBGR 232 "Guidelines for power-operated windows, doors, gates"
àDIN 18650 "Building hardware - Powered pedestrian doors"
àVDE 0100; Part 610 "Erection of low-voltage installations"
àAccident-prevention regulations, especially BGV A1 "General regulations" and BGV A2 "Electrical systems
and equipment"
3.5 Safety-conscious working
àProtect the workplace against unauthorised entry.
àUse only cables prescribed in the cable plan. Secure loose cables with cable ties.
àBefore working on the electrical system disconnect the drive from the power supply and check the isolation
from supply. Note that the system will still be supplied with power, despite the fact that the power supply is
disconnected, if an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is used.
àAlways use insulated wire-end ferrules for wire cores (see wiring diagram Mat. No. 138949).
àAttach safety labels to glass leaf doors (Mat. No. 081476). Risk of injury through breakage of glass.
àRisk of injury by sharp edges and moving parts at the drive.
3.6 Inspection of the mounted system

In accordance with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and DIN 18650, a risk analysis must be performed and the
door system identied in accordance with CE Identication Directive 98/68/EEC before commissioning the door
system.
This includes:
àChecking measures for security and prevention of crushing, impact, shearing or drawing-in spots.
àChecking the function of the safety and actuation sensors.
àChecking the protective conductor connection to all metal parts which can be touched.
3.7 Environmentally-conscious working
XXWhen disposing of the door system, separate the dierent materials and have them recycled.

6 Product description
6.1 System description and technical data
The Slimdrive EMD Invers is a swing door drive operating fully automatically that is actuated by sensors or
switches.
The Slimdrive EMD Invers operates with a motor during opening and closing. In the case of a power failure or
triggered alarm it opens mechanically.
The use of a 2-leaf system with two Slimdrive EMD Invers drives is possible under the following conditions:
àIt must be ensured that the two door leaves do not jam and block each other during opening, since the drives
do not have a mechanical opening sequence control.
àIf necessary, corresponding information is to be obtained beforehand from the door manufacturer.

The 2-leaf version corresponds to that of the 1-leaf mounting type.
The opening angle of the door has to be limited by a door stop.

7.1 General information for mounting

àObserve all the instructions. Incorrect mounting can result in serious injuries.
àThe specied ambient temperature range at the installation location of the drive must be observed.
àAfter completing mounting the settings and functionality of the drive have to be checked!
7.1.1 Scope of delivery and completeness

7.1.2 Preparations to be made by the customer

àThe substructure has to ensure safe fastening of the drive.
àSuitable means of fastening such as anchors, rivet nuts, etc., have to be used.
XXBefore mounting the drive check whether the door leaf is in a good mechanical state and can be opened and
closed easily.
àThe bottom edge of the element mounted at the lowest point (guide rail or link arm) has to be mounted at
least 2 m above the oor.
àCables have to be laid in accordance with the cable plan.
XXCheck the planned type of stop on the leaf or frame prole (see Section 6.3).

7.2 Fitting template for drive, roller guide rail and link arm (Invers version)
The top of the door must be aligned exactly horizontally, both in the closed and in the open position.
XXPick up the correct tting template in accordance with the mounting type (Section 7.3).
XXTake the type of fastening into account (direct fastening or with mounting plate, see Section 7.3).
XXAlign the tting template parallel to the top of the door.
XXAx the template with adhesive tape in accordance with the specied mounting type.
The door and type of stop sketches on the template are helpful.

7.4 Mounting the drive
Ensure that the connection cables are not pinched.
XXPull the hood o.
If provided:
XXScrew on the mounting plate.
XXScrew on the drive.
For positioning refer to the top view in the drawings in Section 6.3.
XXUse the supplied M5 screws or enclosed chip board screws.
7.5 Door stop limiting
XXCheck the physical conditions.
XXOpen and close the door manually.
XXWhen mounting the door panel take care of the pinch
and shearing points of the door edges when laying the
cables.
XXMount the oor stop buer or the integrated opening
restrictor Mat. No. 123232, see Section 8.6. 
7.6 Mounting the roller guide rail
XXSlide the lling pieces (2) into the rail (1) and screw on
together at the marked location.
XXEnsure that the seating and alignment are correct.
Optional:
XXInstall the integrated opening restrictor Mat. No.
123232.

7.7 Mounting the lever (for mounting with roller guide rail)
WARNING!
Danger of injury, danger of damage to the Slimdrive EMD Invers!
The mounted and possibly tension lever is braked electrically. Disconnecting a motor cable releases the stored
energy of a tensioned lever in unbraked form and accelerates the lever back to the initial position.
XXDo not disconnect any of the motor cables (1).
In order to mount the lever use only the supplied hexagon socket-head screw with coating in the lower thread
section.
XXCheck the proper connection (see gure below).

XXPut on the lever (1) as shown with the dashed
line.
XXScrew in the hexagon socket-head screw (2),
tightening torque 12…15 Nm.
XXPretension the lever (1) and insert it into the
roller guide rail (5), while closing the door.
XXMounting the stop buer (6).
XXIf necessary, vary the spring pretension at the
hole nut (3).






7.7.3 Transom mounting opposite hinge side with roller guide rail
XXOpen the door (4).
XXPut on the lever (1) as shown with the dashed
line.
XXScrew in the hexagon socket-head screw (2),
tightening torque 12…15 Nm.
XXPretension the lever (1) and insert it into the
roller guide rail (5), while closing the door.
XXMounting the stop buer (6).
XXIf necessary, vary the spring pretension at the
hole nut (3).







7.7.4 Door panel mounting hinge side with roller guide rail
Ensure that the correct lever DIN right or DIN left conforming to the order is installed.
See stamp on the roller lever.
XXOpen the door (6) to the maximum opening
width, x it there.
XXPut on the lever (2) as shown with the dashed
line.
XXScrew in the hexagon socket-head screw (3),
tightening torque 12…15 Nm.
XXPretension the lever (2) and insert it into the
roller guide rail (1).
XXMounting the stop buer (5).
XXIf necessary, vary the spring pretension at the
hole nut (4).






7.7.5 DIsmantling the lever
Dismantling the lever is carried out in the reverse order of mounting for all mounting types.
XXPut the door in the open position.
XXTake the lever out of the roller guide rail (pretension is released).
XXRemove the screw and take o the lever.
7.8 Mounting the link arm (alternatively to lever with roller guide rail)
XXObserve the instructions enclosed in the link arm packaging.
XXIt is imperative that you observe the maximum level pretension specied in it.
7.9 Mounting the gear shaft cover
XXObserve the instructions enclosed with the covers.
7.10 Mounting the actuation sensors
XXSensors mounted on the wall or ceiling have to be positioned so that the door does not move through the
eld of detection of the sensor during opening and closing since self-actuation is otherwise possible.
