• GD 900 is a granule potwashing
machine – a machine designed
for use in commercial kitchens
to wash/clean utensils such as
canteens and pots.
• This instruction manual is your
guide to the correct use of
the GD 900 granule potwashing
machine.
• Granuldisk AB recommends that
you study the manual carefully
to ensure that the machine is
used correctly and safely.

Avoid contact with the water in
the machine as there is a risk

Granuldisk GD 900 is also available with steam heating.
The machine is supplied with a 2.5 metre long electrical cable that should
be connected to the main junction box. The junction box is not included.

1. AT THE START OF THE DAY
• Check the amount of granules in
the granule collectors (optional
extras). When the granules have
been evened out they should
reach the 10 kg marking on each
collector. Add more granules if
required (picture 1).
• Pour the granules into the wash
tank.
2. CLOSING THE DRAIN VALVE
AND FILLING WITH WATER
• The bottom valve closes by pressing the
closing button or by selecting a wash
programme (see page11).
• The machine fills automatically when the
doors are closed and a wash programme
is selected (see page11).
• To clean the inside of the machine, run
a programme with the machine empty
before washing.
3. PREPARING PANS
• Scrape or rinse off all loose food remains
from the pots before placing them in the
machine (picture 3).
NB! Pans should not be soaked. To avoid
foaming, do not prewash with washing-up
liquid. If foaming occurs, the machine will
not clean properly.
4. INSERTING AND
REMOVING CASSETTES
GD 900S: The cassette is an integral part of
the machine and can be slid halfway out
of the cabinet (picture 4:1).
GD 900K: Push the trolley to the loaded
cassette. Release the catch and push the
handle up (picture 4:2). Hook the cassette
on by pushing the handle down again.
The cassette is then pushed into the machine
using the trolley. Unhook the cassette by
releasing the catch and pushing the handle
up (picture 4:3).
The cassette can easily be hung on the
wall hooks beside the machine by following
the instructions above in the reverse order.
5. LOADING PANS
All pans shall be placed in the machine
with the insides facing the spray pipes
(pictures 4:1, 5:1, 5:2).
The GD 970 multicassette is supplied as
standard with all machines. There are fur-
thermore a number of optional accessories.

2. Instructions
GD 970 Multicassette (5:1)
For pots, saucepans, bowls, dough hooks,
sauceboats etc as well as all types of 1/1 and
2/1 GN containers. 1/1 and 1/2 GN containers
are stacked directly in the lower part of the
cassette without accessories.
GD 950 Multipurpose holder (5:2)
For ABC canteens, pots and saucepans or
other equipment that can be hung on hooks.
The GD 950 is fitted on one of the four
existing runners on the cassette.

GD 953 Lid holder (5:5)
Lids, trays and similar equipment with a
maximum depth of 20 mm can be washed
using this. The GD 953 is best fitted
in the lower cassette runners.
GD 952 Divider (5:4)
Primarily for1/2, and 1/4 Gastronorm
containers. (Can also be used for 1/3, 1/6,
1/9 and 2/3). The GD 952 is fitted halfway
between the existing cassette runners.
The GD 952 also makes it possible to
load one of the following combinations;
4x1/2 or 2x1/3 and 2x2/3 or 4x1/6
and 2x2/3 or 6x1/9 and 2x2/3.
GD 951 Ladle holder (5:3)
For ladles, whisks and similar utensils.
The GD 951 is fitted on one of the
upper runners fitted on the cassette.
GD 954 Holder for 1/3, 1/6 and
1/9 Gastronorm containers (5:6)
Holder with runners for three rows of 1/3,
1/6 and 1/9 containers. The GD 954 is
placed in one of the four existing runners
on the cassette. Each row in the holder
can take the following combination:
2x1/3 or 4x1/6 or 6x1/9.
Selecting a programme
WASH PROGRAMME
1. Select washing with granules
or without
Washing with granules is selected for
all potwashing. Washing without granules
should however be selected for perfo-
rated containers and utensils in which
granules can fasten as well as transparent
plastic materials.
2. Select required wash time
• Ultrashort, + 1 minute.
Press the button for short programme
at the same time as the start button .
The lamp starts to blink to confirm
the selection.
•Short, 4 minutes with granules.
•Long, 7 minutes with granules.
START
Press the start button . The water tem-
perature in the wash tank should be at
least 60°C to achieve the best results. (The
thermostat is pre-set to 65°C). Washing
at temperatures that are too low increases
the risk for foaming and the pots will not
be clean.
The machine is, therefore, pre-program-
med not to start before the temperature
in the tank is at least 60°C. Reprogramming
may only be carried out by a qualified
engineer. This temperature limit is already
preset at the factory for machines with
GDT™.

NB! The doors cannot be opened until the
wash programme is completed and the run-
ning lamp goes out.
STOPPING THE MACHINE
DURING OPERATION
If you need to stop the machine before the
wash programme is completed, switch to
washing with water for about 30 seconds
to rinse off all granules. Then press the
stop button . If the programme without
granules has been selected or if the machine
must be stopped in an emergency, the stop
button can be pressed immediately.
NB! If the machine is stopped in the middle of
the programme, pots can have remains of deter-
gent on them and should be washed again be-
fore they are taken out of the machine and used!
OPERATION
The wash programme begins with washing
with or without granules for 1, 4 or 7 min-
utes. After washing with granules, there is a
final wash with wash water without granules
for about a minute followed by a final rinse
with fresh water at 85°C for 30 seconds. If
the final rinse water is not hot enough, the
cycle time increases until 85°C is reached.
If a condensation unit is fitted, the air in the
machine is cooled for 1 minute to reduce the
temperature of the pots and remove steam.
When the elements in the rinse tank or
the wash tank are on and the water is being
heated this is shown by the lamps under
the rinse tank thermometer (page 11)
or the wash tank thermometer being lit.
Only one is on at a time. If the machine is
heated with steam, both elements can be on
at the same time.

INSPECTING POTS AND PANS
It is important, as with all washing up, that
the results are checked by the staff. Remove
any granules that have fastened in corners,
sharp angles and other inaccessible places.
NB! The plastic material in the granules is
approved for use in conjunction with food.
ALARM
The machine is equipped with various alarm
functions:
Spray pipe motor
Should a spray pipe become blocked, the
machine stops completely and all the lamps
on the control panel – begin to blink
together.
If the alarm goes off: Switch the machine
off by pressing the stop button . Open
the doors and check what has caused the
alarm, remedy the fault and close the doors,
select a new wash programme and start the
machine.
NB! If no fault is found, contact the service
company.
Long filling time
If it takes too long to fill the wash tank,
lamp for emptying of the wash tank
blinks out of time with the others. Check
that the water supply is switched on.Another
cause can be a block in the drain valve or
a false reading for the water level.

NB! If the drain valve is blocked or there is a
false level reading, contact the service company.
Long time after filling
If the washing with granules lamp blinks
out of time with the others, the most likely
problem is foaming in the machine.
NB! Contact the service staff to check if the
temperature in the wash and rinse tanks is
correct. Check that washing-up liquid is not
being used in the machine. Contact your
detergent supplier to check if the detergent
dosing is correct.
Wrong temperature in the wash
or rinse tank
If either of the lamps under the symbols
for the wash water or rinse water
thermometers blinks out of time with the
others there is a fault with the water tem-
perature.
NB! Contact the service company.

COLLECTION OF GRANULES
The granule collectors, which are
available as optional extras, are the
easiest way of emptying the machine
for cleaning or changing the granules.
They are fitted in the cassette’s lower
runners. The doors are then shut
and the “long” programme is started
(see page 11). Each collector can take
10 kg of granules and is equipped
with a level mark (picture 8).
CLEANING THE GRANULES
• Remove both the granule collectors and
place them one after the other in the sink.
Rinse (shower) the granules thoroughly
so that any food remains are removed.
• If no collectors are available, follow
the instructions for emptying the tank
and removal of the fittings. Then rinse
the granules in the bottom of the tank
(picture 9).
EMPTYING THE TANK
Press the stop button (see page 11) and
then the emptying button (see page 11).
The lamp is lit while the valve is open.
REMOVING AND
REPLACING FITTINGS
Spray pipes. Examine the nozzles on the
spray pipes (picture 10). The spray pipes
should be taken out if anything has caught
in the nozzles. The spray pipe lock is
pushed up. Press the spray pipe up and draw
to the side (picture 11). The spray pipe is
then drawn gently down and removed

from the machine. The spray pipe is now
ready for cleaning (picture 12).
Bottom grating. Lift out the bottom grating
(picture 13).
Overflow filter. Lift out the overflow filter
(A, picture 14).
Silhatt. Remove (B, picture 14) by pulling
straight up.
NB! If the overflow filter is not replaced then
the granules will be washed down the drain.
CLEANING
Spray the inside of the machine with water
alone. Then clean the fittings that have
been removed. Wipe the level sensor clean
(C, picture 14). The outside of the machine
may not be sprayed with high-pressure water.
CHECKING THE
GRANULE LEVEL
(Picture 8). There should not be any water
in the machine when checking in order to
be able to see the granule level clearly.
There should be around 20 kg of granules
in the machine. If the machine is fitted
with granule collectors, then the granules
should reach the 10 kg mark in each.
If the granules are left in the tank, the
granule level should be 20 mm below the
bend in the tank (picture 15). The need for
more granules can be checked regularly by
levelling them out.
We recommend that the granules are
replaced twice a year.

Granule potwashing machines from
Granuldisk AB work best with our specially
designed granules. Their design ensures
the best wash results as well as the longest
working life both for themselves and the
machine. For this reason, the guarantee only
applies if granules from Granuldisk AB are
used in the machine. The plastic used in
the granules can be used in conjunction
with food.
NB! Never use too many granules in the
machine. This can lead to blockages in the
spray pipes as well as an inferior wash result.
DROP CHANNELS
Check that the drop channel (D, pict. 14,
page 15) is clean and that water can drain
away effectively.
Notes
OTHER
Wipe the outside of the machine with a
damp cloth. The top should be wiped off
as needed or at least once a month.
REPLACING THE FITTINGS
Put all fitting back in place. Ensure that the
knob on the top of the filter cap (B, pict. 14,
page 15) is tightened.
The spray pipes are put back by follow-
ing the instructions for removal in the
reverse order.
NB! Never use force when fitting the spray
pipes!
