To the user Safety regulations
Granule Maxi is a Granule potwashing ma-
chine – a potwashing machine for commer-
cial kitchens that is designed for washing/
cleaning pots and pans.
This manual is your guide for the correct
installation and use of the Granule Maxi
potwashing machine.
GRANULDISK recommends that you study
the manual thoroughly to be sure that the
machine is installed and used correctly
and safely.
Ensure that the manual is always available
during the whole life of the machine.
GRANULDISK accepts no responsibility
for damage to the equipment or other
damage or injury caused by not following
the directions in this manual.
The plastic in the Granules is approved for
use in conjunction with food.
The machine uses hot water. Avoid contact
with the skin as there is a risk for scalding!
There is a risk for slipping if Granules are
left on the floor.
Formaldehyde, which is dangerous if
inhaled, may be formed if the Granules
catch fire.
Regarding the handling of detergent in the
manual, please see the manufacturer’s
instructions.

2. Operating
Start up
1. Fill the machine with the right amount of Power-
Granules from the Granule collector.
2. Close the drain valve (picture 1).
3. Switch on the main electrical switch.

2. Press the Confirm button (1) in order to fill the
wash tank.

sequence with the diodes for washing with or
without Granules during filling.

Loading utensils
All utensils must be loaded with the inside facing
the spray nozzles. Please see picture 4.
Inserting and removing the cassette
Granule Maxi, Compact Version: The cassette is an
integral part of the machine and can be slid halfway
out of the machine.
Granule Maxi, Flow system: Roll the trolley up to the
loaded cassette. Undo the catch and raise the
handle (Picture 5). Hook the cassette on by pushing
the handle down again.
The cassette is then rolled into the machine using
the trolley. Unhook the cassette by undoing the
catch and raising the handle (Picture 6).
The cassette can easily be suspended on wall
hooks next to the machine by following the above
instructions in reverse.
Granule Maxi, FreeFlow system: The cassette is
loaded suspended onto the trolley. The cassette is
then rolled into the machine using the trolley.
Unhook the cassette by undoing the catch and
raising the handle (Picture 6).
GD 975, Multicassette (14469)
For pots, saucepans, bowls, dough hooks etc as
well as all types of 1/1 and 2/1 GN containers. 1/1
and 2/1 GN containers are loaded directly in the
cassette without accessories.

GD 950 Multipurpose Holder (10972)
For ABC pans, pots and saucepans or other equip-
ment that can be hung on hooks. The GD 950 is
fitted in one of the four existing runners on the
cassette.
See Picture 8.
GD 951 Utensil Holder (10362)
For ladles, whisks and similar utensils. The ladle
holder is fitted in one of the upper runners fitted on
the cassette.
See Picture 9.
GD 956 Divider for GN Containers, sizes
1/9-2/3 (19313)
For 1/2, 2/3, 1/3, 1/6 and 1/9 Gastronorm con-
tainers. The GD 956 also makes it possible to load
one of the following combinations:
• 4x1/2GNcontainersor
• 2x1/3and2x2/3GNcontainersor
• 4x1/6and2x2/3GNcontainersor
• 6x1/9and2x2/3GNcontainers

GD 953 Lid holder (10950)
Lids, trays and similar equipment with a maximum
depth of 20 mm can be washed using this. The Lid
holder is best fitted in the lower cassette runners.

GD 954 Holder for GN pans 1/3, 1/6, 1/9
(10948)
Holder with runners in three rows for 1/3, 1/6 and
1/9 containers. The GD 954 is placed in one of the
four existing runners on the cassette.
Each row in the holder can take the following combi-
nation: 2x1/3 or 4x1/6 or 6x1/9 GN containers.
See Picture 12.
GD 651 Netbasket (13493)
Net basket for ladles, whisks, bowls, small sauce-
pans etc. Place in the bottom of the cassette,
following the runners.

1. Confirm button is used to answer “yes” to a
question shown in the display window.

This button stops all ongoing activities in the
machine and resets certain alarms.

Start and Operation
1. Press Confirm button (1)
• Iftemperatureislowerthan65°Cinwashtankat
the time of the first start, once the wash tank has
been filled, the machine will continue heating.
• Washingattoolowtemperatureincreasesthe
risk of foaming and the items not being hygi-
enically clean.
• Reprogrammingmaybecarriedoutbyauthor-
ised personnel only.
2. Select washing with or without Granules (6) or (7).
For slightly soiled pans or specific items with
Granule “traps” (i.e. perforated containers), please
choose without Granules. Normal and heavy soiled
pots and pans, please choose the powerful Gran-
ule cycles to blast the utensils clean.
3. Select required wash time (3), (4) or (5)
Eco 2 min, 30 s (with Granules),
1 min, 30 s (without Granules)
Short 4 min, 40 s (with Granules),
3 min, 40 s (without Granules)
+ 1 minute with steamreduction
Normal 6 min, 40 s (with Granules),
5 min, 40 s (without Granules)

4. When the light goes out, the wash programme is
complete. The display now shows the last pro-
gramme run, e.g.;
5. Keep the doors closed if you are not running another
wash programme straight away. It saves energy and
reduces evaporation from the wash tank.

Stopping the machine while in operation
• Switchtowashingwithwater(6)forabout30

NB! Utensils may have remains of detergent and
should be washed again before they are taken out
of the machine. Never drain an emergency stopped
machine! (Granules left in the pump without water
will jam the pump impeller.)
Inspecting the pots and pans
• Visiblycheckthepotsandpansaftereach
programme.
• TomakesurenoGranulesareleft.Pleaseturnall
washware (baskets, pans etc) upside down,
before taking out the items from the machine.
• RemoveanyGranulesthatmaybestuckin
corners, sharp angles and other inaccessible
places (Picture 15).

PowerGranules
• SpeciallydesignedtoworkwithGranulePot-and
pan washing machines from GRANULDISK.
• Ensurethebestwashresultaswellasthelong-
est working life both for themselves and the
machine.
• WarrantyonlyappliesifPowerGranulesfrom
GRANULDISK are used in the machine.
• Theplasticmaterialisapprovedforuseincon-
junction with food.
• Forspotlesscleanresult,pleasecontrolthe
recommended level (Total of 16 kg; 8 kg in each
Granule collector) of Granules every day when
collecting the PowerGranules. Top up with
PowerGranules if the level goes under the
8 kg mark in each Granule Collector!
• Pleasefollowtherecommendedexchangeof
PowerGranules communicated by the GDMemo™
(message in display occurs every 2500 Granule
Cycle).
• WornoutGranulesshouldbehandledascombus-
tible goods.
Language selection
To change the language settings;
1. Press the STOP button, release it and wait for 3
seconds.
2. Press the (4) “short programme” button, five
times.
3. The display shows the following;

5. Scroll using the buttons for eco (3) or normal (5)
programme, to step through the list of languages.
6. Select a language by pressing the Confirm button
(1); OK.
7. Press STOP button (2) to quit programming
mode.

3. Daily cleaning
A. Collecting and cleaning PowerGranules
using the Granule Collectors
1. Use the Granule Collectors (2 pcs)
2. Place the Granule Collectors in the cassette
(picture 16).
3. Close the doors and start a normal programme
with Granules.
4. Take out the filled Granule collectors and flush
(shower) the Granules thoroughly. Make sure no
food remains are left.
5. Check the Granule level against the marker for 8
kg in each Granule Collector (picture 17).
6. Top up with new Granules if needed. Wash result
will suffer if Granule amount is not kept at a
sufficient level.
B. Cleaning inside the tank
1. Press STOP button (2).
2. Switch off at the main electrical switch.
3. Remove and check all 4 spray pipes. If any visible
piece of e.g. chicken bone is seen in the opening
of the nozzle, please take the back side of a
tea-spoon and carefully put the piece back into
the spraypipe. Any pieces stuck will then fall
down the spraypipe and out at the end. See
picture 18 and 19.
• Thespraypipelockisfoldedup,thenyoupush
the spray pipe up and pull it to one side.
• Thespraypipeispulleddowngentlyand
removed from the machine.
• Thespraypipecannowbecleaned.

4. Lift out overflow sieve (A). Lift out the two tank
grids. Clean and flush the parts with water. See
picture 20.
5. Move the Granule strainer (B) towards you, in
order to clean the bottom of the tank.
See pictures 21 and 22.
•Cleanandflushthetank.Rinsewithextracare,
so that the bottom of the tank is also reached.
•Cleantheperforatedsurface(oftheGranule
strainer) to ensure that there are no Granules
left there.
•CheckthatthesealingstripfortheGranule
strainer is undamaged.
6. Wipe off the level sensor (C) with a clean cloth.
See picture 22.
7. The drip groove (D) to be washed clean and dried
in order to avoid blockage in the drain channels.
See picture 21.
8. Wipe door seals.
9. Wipe inside of the doors with a damp cloth.
10.The top should be wiped off as required or at
least once a month.
NB! The outside of the machine must not be washed
with high-pressure water.
C. Replacement of cleaned items
1. Replace all items
• PuttheGranulestrainerintotherightposition
again.
• 2xtankgrids
• Cover–overflowsieve
• 4xspraypipes
NB! If the Overflow sieve cover is not put back
properly, the Granules may run down the drain
during a wash cycle.

D. Over night and at longer stoppages
• Ensurethatwashtankiscompletelyemptyafter
cleaning.
• Anywaterremaininginthebottomshouldbe
removed with a sponge or similar absorbent.
• Leavedoorsslightlyopensothataircancircu-
late in the machine.
• PowerGranulesshouldbestoredinGranule
collector standing in the machine.
• Afteralongstoppage;checkoperationofthe
machine according to service manual, possibly
with the assistance of a service manager.
E. GD Memo™
GD Memo is an integrated function which informs
the user of the machine’s most important
maintenance requirements.
1.Time to change wash water
“Washing without Granules” button (7) flashes and
the message “change water” is shown in the
display. The message disappears once the water
has been changed or can be reset by pressing
STOP button (2) and release. Then wait 5 sec and
press the “without Granules” button (7) five times.
This reminder appears after every 25 wash cycles.
2.Time to change PowerGranules
“Washing with Granules” button (6) flashes and the
message “change Granules” is shown in the display.
This information disappears once the Granules have
been changed and this has been acknowledged by
pressing the STOP button (2) and release. Then
wait 5 sec and press the “washing with Granules”
button (6) nine times and the short programme
button (4) once. A Granule change reminder ap-
pears after every 2500 wash cycles.
3.Time for service
The STOP button (2) flashes and the message
“service” is shown in the display. This information
can only be reset by an authorised service
engineer once a maintenance service has been
completed. An service reminder appears after
every 8000 programmes or once a year.

4. HACCP Hygiene and Operation Documentation
GRANULDISK Documentation Tool, GDTdirect™, is
an integrated function for the documentation of the
dishwashing machine’s operating parameters and
critical hygiene control points, HACCP.
• OperatingDataforthelast100washpro-
grammes run is viewed directly in the control
panel window.
• Anexternalcomputercanbelinkedtothema-
chine and operating data stored in separate files
so that all historical data can be saved. Windows
2000 or Windows XP is a system requirement for
connecting an external computer. Please contact
your dealer for more information and installation.
Reading the Data through the control panel
1. Press STOP button (2), release it and wait 3
seconds.
2. Press “short programme” (4), five times.
3. Use button “eco programme” (3) or button
“normal programme (5) until you see “read
operating data” in the display. Confirm your
choice by pressing Confirm button (1).
4. Operating data for the last programme run is
shown in the display;

the set values have been changed, NA (not
applicable) is displayed.
NB! If the wash programme has been cancelled due
to an operating error or technical error, the tem-
perature indication is not included and “error” plus
an error code appears in its place.

5. To view information on programme run previ-
ously, scroll backwards and forwards in the list
using button “eco programme” (3) or button
“normal programme” (5).
6. To end scrolling and leave the list, press Confirm
button (1).
7. Press the STOP button (2) to return to operating
mode.

5. Troubleshooting and alarms
The meaning of the error codes can be read out from the table below.
