Proper servicing and adjustment is key to the long life of all farm equipment. With careful and systematic
inspection of equipment, costly maintenance, time and repair can be avoided. The following information
will assist with recommended servicing and adjustments:

Hydraulic Hose Hookup
Ensure that the tractor horsepower meets the minimum
requirement for the implement being pulled. This is
important so that the implement can work as efficiently
as possible.
1) Connect the Short Disk to the tractor using a locking
style pin. Ensure that the safety lights and chain are
hooked up.
Great Plains hydraulic hoses have colored coded han-
dle grips to help hook up hoses to the tractor remotes.
Hoses with the same color use the same remote.
2) Use the following table to assist with hooking up the
hydraulic hoses.

Hitch Turnbuckle Adjustment:
For front to rear leveling, either extend or shorten the
tongue turnbuckle. During field operation, if a mound
appears in the center of the machine, the hitch turn-
buckle needs shortened to raise the rear gangs. If a val-
ley appears in the center of the machine, the hitch
turnbuckle needs to be lengthened to raise the front
gang.
Note: If equipped with hydraulic leveling, initially set the
fore/aft gauge to “D” before adjusting the hitch.
1) Loosen the jam nut (1) with the provided turnbuckle
wrench located on the backside of the hitch.
2) Adjust the turnbuckle at either adjustment nuts (2)
until the machine is level front to back.
3) Re-tighten the jam nut.

Hydraulic Leveling Fore and Aft:
Fore/Aft leveling in the field should be done with the
hydraulic level (if equipped), otherwise use the hitch
turnbuckle for adjustment.
1) With the hitch turnbuckle set, the fore/aft can be
adjusted hydraulically to compensate for differing
field conditions.
2) If a mound is left in the center of the machines
pass, move the fore/aft gauge towards “A” until the
mound goes away.
3) If a valley is left in the center of the machines pass,
move the fore/aft gauge towards “G” until the valley
goes away.
Note: If the fore/aft hydraulic cylinder limits out before
the mound or valley goes away, the hitch turnbuckle
is not adjusted correctly and should be properly
adjusted.

Wing Lift Cylinder Eyebolt Adjustment:
If hydraulic down pressure and optional wing gauge
wheels are not installed, wing lift cylinder eyebolts
are the main method of assuring level wings.
The factory preset for wing lift cylinder eyebolts is
4 5/8 inches.
1) With the implement fully raised, loosen the rear
jam nut (3).
2) Use the front nut (4) to drive the eyebolt either for-
ward or backwards to the required setting.
3) Tighten the rear jam nut.

Wing Hydraulic Down Pressure:
Wings may be operated with active hydraulic down-
pressure, which transfers mainframe weight to the
wings, or the wings may be operated in Float.
Note: The down-pressure system is not compatible
with Open Center tractor hydraulics. Place wings in
Float when running an Open Center system.
1) Engage the hydraulic lever for continuous flow.
Ensure that the tractor throttle is above idle to obtain
an accurate reading.
2) From the cab, adjust the tractor hydraulic flow so
that the needle on the bypass gauge (5) is in the
green zone (1000-1500 PSI).
3) At the valve block, release the locking disc and
adjust the knob (6) to set the initial down pressure
(7). Usually set between 200-300 PSI. Note: Never
exceed 800 PSI.
4) If the wings begin to run high during field opera-
tion, increase the down pressure. If the center begins
to run high, decrease the down pressure.

(Old) Disc Scraper Adjustment:
Prior to first use, and periodically thereafter, inspect all
disc scrapers for proper gap and adjust as needed.
Reverse scraper blades when the specific adjustment
is no longer possible. Replace the scrapers when
either side can no longer be adjusted to the proper
gap.
1) Adjust the scraper blades by loosening the two car-
riage bolts (8). Slide and rotate the scrapers and re-
tighten the bolts when finished. Note: If the specified
gap is not set, the blade will plug.

Cast Roller Adjustment (Optional):
The roller attachment is designed to size clods and
consolidate the soil profile. It can be hydraulically
adjusted with a reference gauge on the left wing.
1) Set the blue hydraulic circuit to Float and take note
of the roller reference gauge reading.
2) While making a tillage pass, set the blue hydraulic
circuit to neutral to lock the roller in position.
3) Moving the gauge toward “E” reduces down pres-
sure while moving the gauge toward “A” increases
pressure.
Note: The roller is capable of lifting the rear gang out of
the soil and disturbing the fore/aft setting. When
increasing roller pressure, ensure that the machine
does not raise as the pressure increases.
4) If wheel tracks or power hopping occurs, increase
the roller pressure.
5) Note the reference gauge setting for future use.

(New) Disc Scraper Adjustment:
Prior to first use, and periodically thereafter, inspect all
disc scrapers for proper gap and adjust as needed.
Replace the scrapers when they can no longer be
properly adjusted.
1) Adjust the scraper blades by loosening the two bolts
(9). Rotate the scraper until 1/16” to 1/8” gap between
the scraper and blade is achieved and re-tighten the
bolts when finished. Note: This measurement is essen-
tial for proper trash flow.

Rolling Basket Adjustment (Optional):
The seedbed conditioner basket is designed to firm/
consolidate the soil and is not recommended for work-
ing in wet conditions.
1) Springs (10) are factory set at:

SD3000 14.75 inches (375 mm)
SD3300 14.56 inches (370 mm)
2) To adjust the springs, loosen the jam nut (11).
3) Using a wrench, adjust the adjustment nut (12) until
the desired spring length is achieved. Note: The
spring rate is 160 pounds per inch of adjustment. Do
not set the spring length to less than 13 inches to
avoid damage to the rolling baskets.
4) Weight can also be removed from the baskets by
moving the upper linkage pin (13) to a higher hole.
Note: The pins must be restored to the bottom holes
prior to folding.
Single Spike Tine Adjustment (Optional):
The single spike tine is included with one of the rolling
basket options.
There are two adjustments that affect tine height and
angle.
1) Lift chains (14):
Lengthening the chain (fewer slack links at slot) is
more aggressive. Shortening the chain is less aggres-
sive. Note: Start with five links hanging from the drag
arm slots.
2) Angle levers (15):
Moving the lever up is less aggressive, and allows
more residue to flow through the tines. Moving the
lever down is more aggressive.
