2. LIGHTING AND REGULATING
COMBUSTION

Follow he ins ruc ions below o regula e
combus ion:
•Move he regula ion valve from righ o lef
o provide a grea er inflow of air o favour
combus ion (FIG. 5).
•When ligh ing, we recommend moving he
combus ion regula ion valve comple ely o
he lef .
I is essen ial o provide an abundan load of fuel
when ligh ing. The following loads will depend on
he hea requiremen desired.
EIt is a visable to leave the oor partially open
to avoi con ensation an to keep the glass
clean for some minutes after lighting the fire.
Once he fireplace is working a i s normal level
and he chimney has hea ed up, regula e
combus ion by means of he regula ion valve.
When he inflow of air is fully closed, combus ion
will be slow; when he inflow of air is open,
combus ion will be more in ense.
For the best performance from your appliance,
place the combustion regulation valve in the
central position.
If he compac fireplace is used in a room oge her
wi h o her hea ing appliances ha also need air
for combus ion purposes, i is advisable o
prepare an addi ional air in ake of ou side air o
facili a e he said combus ion processes.
The use of one or more hea ing devices in he
same room reduces he level of available oxygen,
affec ing he combus ion of he fireplace and
reducing he draw of he chimney.
Ac ua ing he con rol valve as described in he
previous s eps, provides a grea er inflow of air for
he combus ion process; his provision of air akes
place a he heigh of he andiron and he upper
par of he glass. Check when loading ha he air
inle a he heigh of andiron is free from ashes.
O herwise, clean i o provide a proper
combus ion process. This will con ribu e o he
dual purpose of keeping he glass clean and
facili a ing he ligh ing up process.
ATTENTION! When working, the metal parts of
the fireplace may reach high temperatures.
Protect your han s with a fireproof glove when
touching the sai parts.
If you should de ec any overhea ing of he
fireplace caused by:
-Fan breakdown.
-Faul y hermos a .
The fire mus be pu ou o avoid possible damage
o he compac fireplace and o i s coa ing. Follow
hese recommenda ions:
•Do no add any more fuel
•Open he door sligh ly o le more air in; his
will cause he flames o grow and consume
he fuel more quickly bu will also cool he
chimney and reduce draw, cooling he
appliance.
The compact SERE has been esigne to operate
using intermittent combustion processes.

3 - CLEANING
THE FRONT
Preferably clean when he Fireplace is cold,
using a sligh ly damp clo h.
THE GLASS PANE
Fireplace window cleaning liquids are effec ive
produc s.
Never ry o clean he glass while he fireplace is
working. We recommend using HERGOM
window cleaning produc s.
Replacing: he glass pane in your fireplace is
made of hermal ma erial, especially
manufac ured for log and/or coal fireplaces. If i
should break due o an acciden , i mus be
replaced by ano her glass pane wi h he same
echnical specifica ions. Con ac our Dis ribu or
o provide you wi h he appropria e glass pane,
oge her wi h ins ruc ions on how o assemble
and seal i .
BAFFLE PLATE
Clean he deflec or on bo h sides a leas once
each season using a brush. This will facili a e
he ransmission of air hrough he pla e and
avoid i s de eriora ion o a grea ex en .

JOINTS AND SEALS
I is advisable o perform a visual inspec ion of
he door join s a he beginning and in mid-
season o ensure hey are air igh . If necessary,
con ac our Dis ribu or o supply you wi h he
appropria e seal, along wi h assembly
ins ruc ions.
4 - SAFETY
WARNING!
Gas/log/pellet units get hot when in use.
Consequently, owners must act with
precaution an keep at a istance. Especially
keep chil ren, the el erly an other people
who require special supervision, as well as
pets, away from the appliance when it is in
use.
Make sure that chil ren or other people who
are not familiar with how the appliance works
are supervise by responsible people when
they are near the fireplace.
In or er to prevent burns or chil ren or other
people from coming near the appliance, use a
fire grille or screen.
A number of possible risks may arise when
opera ing your solid fuel fireplace wi h fuel of
any brand. The said risks can be minimised if
he ins ruc ions and recommenda ions included
in his manual are followed.
•Keep any flammable ma erial (furni ure,
cur ains, clo hes...) away from he
fireplace, a a safe dis ance of a leas
0,90m. (Fig. 6)
•Ash should be emp ied in o a me al
con ainer and immedia ely removed from
he house.
•Do no use flammable liquids o ligh he
fireplace. Keep any ype of flammable
liquid (pe rol, gasoline, alcohol,....) a a
dis ance from he fireplace.
•Periodically inspec he chimney and clean
i whenever necessary. Also inspec he
s a e of seals, glass, screws...
•Do no ins all near walls ha are
combus ible or ha fea ure any ype of
lining ha may be damaged or deformed
by high empera ures (varnish, pain ...).
Precau ions should also be aken o
preven placing he ho air grilles on
combus ible i ems.

•Protect your han s with a glove or other
insulating material because, uring
operation, the opening an closing han le
will be hot.
REPLACING THE POWER SUPPLY CABLE
If he power supply cable has been damaged, i
should be replaced by he manufac urer, via i s
Technical Service, or by qualified personnel, in
order o avoid risks.
When ins alling he compac SERE fireplace,
follow he ins alla ion advice below for your
own safe y:
1. The base where you are going o place your
SERE mus be fla and provide a perfec
sea for your fireplace. The base mus be
buil using hea resis an ma erials.
2. The gap in which your SERE fireplace will be
ins alled mus be comple ely free from
debris and was e ma erials ha may igni e
when he fireplace is working.
3. The inside of he gap where he SERE
fireplace is o be ins alled will be
appropria ely insula ed or buil of ma erials
ha resis high empera ures.
4. If insula ion mus be ins alled inside he
gap, do no cover he ven ila ion grille.
5. Never wrap he inser fireplace in
insula ion ma erial as his will damage i .
