本器は自転車用ボトムブラケットのネジ山修正用の専用工具です。この目的以外には使
用しないでください。

１. 作業時は保護グローブを着用してください。
２. 本器は自転車用ボトムブラケット １.３７×２４（ＪＩＳ）サイズ用のタップセットです。
タップを、別売のＣ-４０５-２に交換することでイタリアン規格（３６ｍｍ×２４山）に適
合します。これ以外のサイズのボトムブラケットには使用で ません。
３. 本器は精密な切削工具です。取扱いには十分注意してください。投げたり落とした
りしますと、タップの破損や故障の原因となります。
４. 本器の改造は絶対におやめください。故障の原因となります。
５. 本器、およびタップに割れ、欠け、磨耗、変形などが認められる場合は使用しな
いでください。

左右各本体にハンドルを挿入し、ハンドル中央部の窪みに
合わせてハンドル取り付けネジを締め込み固定します。

左右本体のタップ固定リングを反時計方向にまわして取り
外します。

タップの右用、左用を確認します。包装に「ＬＥＦＴ」
と表記、またタップにＬＨ（ＬＥＦＴ ＨＡＮＤ）の刻印の
ある方が逆ネジ（右用）です。
ＬＥＦＴは逆ネジの意味です。左用ではありませんの
で十分に注意してください。
別売Ｃ-４０５-２を取り付けると は、左右とも同じ物
を同じように取り付けます｡

右用本体（R刻印）に逆ネジ用タップ（LEFT表記）
を切り欠 のある方から本体に挿入し、切り欠 部
分をガイドピンに合わせてタップ固定リングで締め
付けます。

左用本体（L刻印）にも同様に正ネジ用タップを
切り欠 のある方から本体に挿入し、切り欠 部
分をガイドピンに合わせてタップ固定リングで固
定します。

タップの左右には十分に注意して組み付けを行ってください。
タップ固定リングは、ゆるまない程度に手で締めてください。プライヤーなどで強固に締
めるとタップを破損する恐れがあります。

タップの最大径のところ（ここが通過した部分
のネジ山が修正されます）がハンガーの端か
ら装着するワンの厚さ分沈めばネジ山修正は
完了です。

タップ部に良質の切削油を塗布し、ハン
ガーに対してまっすぐに軽く押し込みなが
ら、右用本体を反時計方向に、左用本体
を時計方向に同時に回転させて２～３山
いつかせます。 いつ後は右・左個
別に、抵抗を感じるまで正しい方向に回
転させます。

作業するフレームを作業スタンドやベンチ
バイスなどに確実に固定します。

右用本体をフレームの右側（ギアクランク
側）から、左用本体を左側からハンガー
（ボトムブラケット）にくぐらせ、右用本体の
ガイドシャフトに左用本体を挿入します。

回りにくいと は1／4回転ハンドルを戻して切
り粉を出して、再度各々の方向に回転させて
ネジを修正します。必要に応じて追加注油を
行ってください。

途中で回りにくくなった場合は、既存のネジの修正が完了し、ネジのない部分にかかって
いることが考えられます。無理に進めようとせず、注油していったん抜取り、ワンを装着
してみてください。本器では新たなネジたてはで ませんので、無理に進めるとネジ山や
タップを破損する恐れがあります。

必ず左右同時にご使用ください。片方だけで使用するとネジ山を破損する恐れがあり
ます。
回転方向にはくれぐれも注意してください。右用は反時計方向、左用は時計方向で
す。なお、この回転方向とは各操作する手の側からの回転方向ですから、上から見た
場合は同じ方向（自転車進行時のホイールの回転と逆）となります。
別売Ｃ-４０５-２を取り付けてイタリアン規格のボトムブラケットを加工すると は、左右と
も時計方向に回転します。
作業を確実にするため、頻繁に注油を行ってください。切り粉の詰まりや焼付 によ
り、ネジ山やタップを破損することがあります。

・ タップはご使用後、直ちに切り粉などを除去し、衝撃を与えないよう保管してください。
・ サビ防止のため、定期的に潤滑油などをしみ込ませたウエスでふいて保管してください。
本器を取り外し、ハンガーの中の切り粉を十分に除去し、脱脂材などで掃除します。

取り外すと は左右を少しずつ交互にゆるめて取り外してください。片方を一気に取り
外すとネジ山を破損する恐れがあります。
切削油は当社製Ｃ-１７など、必ず良質で粘度の高いものを使用してください。スプ
レー式の物は適さず、タップの寿命を縮め、ネジ修正能力を低下させます。また、フ
レームを著しく損傷する恐れがあります。チタン、アルミなど特殊な素材のフレームに
は、それぞれに適した切削油をご使用ください。

proper care and handling, this fine instrument will provide years of trouble-free operation.
Please read this entire instruction manual carefully before attempting to place this
instrument in service. Please keep this instruction manual available for reference.

This tool is for correcting the threads on a bicycle bottom bracket. Do not use for any other
purpose.
Precautions
1. Wear groves during use.
2. The C-405 is for bottom brackets of 1.37×24 JIS) size. Applicable to Italian
standard 36 mm X 24 TPI) by replacing the provided taps with the C-405-2 sold
separately. But not applicable for other sizes.
3. Be careful in handling, since this is a precision cutting tool. Do not drop or throw
down. This could damage the taps.
4. Do not modify the C-405. This could cause a malfunction.
5. Do not use when cracks, breaks, excessive wear or deformation is found on this
tool, bodies and taps.

４ Compare the right and reverse left-hand) taps. The tap
indicated "LEFT" on the wrapping and also stamped "LH
(left-hand)" directly on its face is for reverse left-handed)
screw, and should be installed in tap driver R.
"LEFT" means left-handed screw, but not
left side to the riding person.
When installing the C-405-2 Italian stand-

right and left.

Insert handles into tap drivers R and L, and screw in handle set screws so that they
engage the depressions in the middle of the handles.

Similarly insert right screw tap from the
face which has slits into tap driver L,
engraved L.
Engage the slits with the projections on
the tap driver, then secure the tap set ring
with you fingers.

the tap driver, then secure the tap set ring
with your fingers.

Set up very carefully to ensure selecting the proper tap for each side.
Without using pliers, tighten the tap set ring with your fingers. Overdo could damage
the tap.

Apply a liberal amount of superior quality
cutting oil to each tap. While depressing
lightly at right angles to the bottom bracket,
turn tap driver R counterclockwise and tap
driver L clockwise so that they bite a few
threads.
Then, turn each tap driver in the
appropriate direction just until resistance
is felt.

If it is hard to turn tap drivers, try again after
reversing handles 1/4 turn and cleaning
scraps. Add oil if necessary.

Correcting threads is completed when the
thickest portion of the tap, which exactly
corrects the threads, passes the point in the
bracket of minimum insertion of the bottom
bracket cup.

Secure the frame to be corrected in the
work stand or the bench vise.

Thread tap driver R from right side of the
frame (gear crank side) and tap driver L
from left side into the bottom bracket
shell.
Then, engage the tap drivers with each
other.

If you feel resistance in turning, the tap is going to cut a new thread even the existing
thread has been corrected. In case of this, do not continue turning the handle by force.
Then lubricate and reverse the handle to attach the bottom bracket cup as a trial. This
bracket tap cannot newly cut threads. Do not try to cut threads by force. Otherwise, this
could damage the bottom bracket shell and the tap.
Caution
Always use both tap drivers R and L. Otherwise, the threads could be damaged.
Engaging the two tap drivers produces a single axis.
Especially be careful of turning direction : tap driver R counterclockwise, and tap driver
L clockwise. This is opposite the direction of the spinning wheel when the bicycle is
going forward.
When processing bottom brackets based upon Italian standard, unlike JIS size, turn the
both of left and right tap drivers clockwise to the operator.
Frequently lubricate to complete the work. Otherwise, clogging cut scraps or sticking
could damage the bottom bracket shell and the tap.

・ Remove the cut scrap from taps after use. Store avoiding shocks.
・ Lubricate periodically with an oiled cloth to prevent rusting.

６ Remove the C-405. Clean out the cut scraps in the bottom bracket shell and wipe off
Always remove the both tap drivers R and L loosening gradually by turns. Removing
the one tap driver could damage the thread.
Use high quality, high viscosity cutting oil. Aerosol sprays are not suitable lubricants
and use of them will shorten the life of taps, reduce the quality of thread correction,
and may also damage the frame. If correcting an aluminum or titanium bottom bracket,
make sure the cutting oil is suitable for aluminum or titanium, respectively.
