General Safety Information
The following residual risks can occur through intended use:
NOTICE
Impermissible operating media
The sensor will be destroyed
►Only use the sensor with mineral oils or mineral oil-based raffinates
when assembling in fluid.
►Do not use the sensor in environments with aggressive or explosive
media.
NOTICE
Faulty mechanical installation on the machine
No or faulty signals
►Ensure that the mechanical connection between the sensor and the
machine to be monitored is strong and as rigid as possible. Use the
appropriate assembly material for assembling the sensor. Amongst
others, this is available as an accessory with HYDAC.
NOTICE
Exceeding the maximum permissible line length
Erroneous or no communication
►Observe the maximum permissible line lengths.

NOTICE
Impermissible operating conditions
No/faulty signals or the sensor is destroyed
►Operate the sensor within the technically permissible conditions only.
►Observe the basis expansion of the measuring object
(for example, temperature-based expansion).
►Do not use the sensor at high or low temperatures outside the
specified operating and storage conditions.
►Avoid major sudden changes in temperature.
►Avoid a high ambient humidity if assembled within the fluid (suitable
sensor type required).
►Avoid shock loads outside of the technically permissible conditions.
►Avoid high sound level outside the technically permissible conditions.
►Do not use the sensor in a radiating environment.
►Do not use the sensor around strong electromagnetic fields.
►Do not use the sensor in environments with aggressive or explosive
media.
►Only use the sensor with mineral oils or mineral oil-based raffinates
when assembling in fluid.
►Avoid side rocking during operation.
►Ensure that the assembly is correct and firm.
NOTICE
Unsafe transport
The connection plug or the connecting cable will be damaged
►Transport the sensor in its original packaging.
►Secure the sensor during transport.

NOTICE
Improper storage
The sensor will be damaged
►Store the sensor in its original packaging at a clean and dry place.
►Do NOT store the sensor at locations with extreme temperatures,
high humidity, close to magnetic fields or in locations with strong
vibrations or impact loading (shocks).
NOTICE
Improper installation and treatment
The sensor is damaged and is limited in its function
►Do not let the sensor fall and do not use it for non-applicable and non-
operating purposes (for example as a climbing aid).
►Ensure that the limits of operating temperature are maintained
according to the technical data.
►The wiring of the sensor should be correct and in keeping with this
manual.
►Install the sensor as close as possible to the vibration source or
component to be monitored and ensure a clean, smooth, flat
mounting surface that is larger than the contact surfaces of the
vibrations sensor.
►Use the specified connection and cable. Keep the wiring away from
power supply and control and bus lines respectively.
►Do not make any structural changes to the sensor; this will void the
warranty.
►Do not disassemble the sensor in hazardous areas (unless it is
permitted for operating in hazardous areas) and do not use any
sensor with a damaged housing.

NOTICE
Use of assembly adapters
The sensor has a limited function and signal quality
►The use of assembly adapters results in a less favorable mechanical
coupling of the vibrations sensor to the machine to be monitored. This
causes a restricted signal quality of the vibration to be measured –
primarily in the upper frequency area.
►The use of assembly adapters can lead to the fact that certain
anomalies in the vibration characteristics of machines and the
machine elements to be monitored are detected late or cannot be
detected at all.
►HYDAC explicitly recommends assembling the vibrations sensors as
a threaded connection.
NOTICE
Design specific use of assembly adapters
Design-related limitations during the sensor assembly
►A sensor assembly by means of adhesive adapter is not possible for
the "side entry" design.

NOTICE
Use of magnet adapters
The sensor has a limited function and signal quality
►An incorrect handling of assembly adapters can strongly damage the
vibrations sensor and limit its function and signal quality. This is valid
especially in case of excessive tightening torque and shocks, such as
e.g. may occur when placing the magnet adapters carelessly
(mechanical "snapping").
►Magnet adapters without ridges are not suitable for use/mounting on
curved surfaces.
►Permanent magnets of magnet adapters occasionally develop strong
magnetic fields and are to be kept away from items and instruments
which are influenced by them.
NOTICE
Improper wiring/electrical connection of sensors
The sensor has a limited function and signal quality
►A cable length of 300 meters between electronic evaluation unit (e.g.
HYDAC MCMS 2000) and vibrations sensor should not be exceeded,
as an excessive length of cable can limit the signal quality (frequency
response) of system.
►Keep the sensor cable away from power lines and signal lines to
prevent errors in sensor signal (e.g. from noise).
►Avoid excessive bending, twisting, snapping, knotting and straining
the sensor cable so as not to damage it. The recommended minimum
bending radius of 80 mm is mandatory.
►Protect the cable form external, mechanical and thermal influences,
e.g. by using the cable ducts and heat protection sheets.

Product overview
The HYDAC VibrationSensor VS 3000 is an industrial sensor for recording the
vibration acceleration of system and machines. The piezo-based measurement
procedure, in combination with a suitable signal evaluation unit such as the HYDAC
Machine ConditionMonitoring System MCMS 2000 or the standard vibration
measuring systems and modules with signal inputs for IEPE accelerometers (IEPE =
Integrated Electronics Piezo Electric), enables an early detection of damage to
rotating machine elements (for example roller bearings, gear tooth systems –such as
in gear pumps or gear units) as well as misalignment (for example misaligned belt
transmission), imbalance (for example, missing rotor blade in fans) or an absent
fixing of machines (for example loose bolted connections between machines and
machine base).
The special features of HYDAC VibrationSensor VS 3000 are as follows:
Wide industry and application focus
Compact design
Direct connection to HYDAC Condition Monitoring Systems using M12x1
plug connector
Simple connection to commercially available vibration measurement
systems or modules thanks to IEPE technology
Also suitable for assembly in fluids (immersed assembly) thanks to a high
protection class and variants with integrated, oil-resistant cable
Also available as a premium variant with lower sensitivity to cross
acceleration
