A suitable plug-in transformer with an output voltage of 16Vac ± 10% with a rating
of 16VA must connected to the AC Input on the panel - labelled 16VAC. The AC
input is Polarity independent. It is recommended that 0.5mm Ripcord Stranded
Cable be used to connect the transformer to the panel.
A 12V sealed lead acid battery with a maximum capacity of 7AH must be used. The
battery provides peak current and battery backup in the case of a AC power failure.
The battery standby time will vary dependant on what peripherals are connected
and what battery is used. The battery must be connected to the Red (Positive) and
Black (Negative) battery leads on the panel as shown. The panel is polarity
protected via a 1A ‘fastblow’ fuse
The auxiliary power supply on the Ezi4 alarm panel is used to supply power to any
peripheral hardware (passive infra-red detectors, remote receivers etc) that
connects to the panel. It is labelled “AUX 12V” on the panel and can supply up to
250mA current at 12V. This is typically suitable to power 4 PIRs and a Remote
Receiver. Please refer to documentation supplied with peripheral hardware to
determine their maximum current draw.
Zone Inputs
In order for the panel to detect shorted or broken cables, End of Line terminating
resistors must be added in the zone circuit as per fig 1. The termination resistor (as
supplied with panel) has a value of 3300 Ohms and is shown in the figure below.

End of line terminating resistors must be used for the Arm/Disarm Zones (labelled
“ARM” on the Panel) as well as the four Alarm Zones (labelled “1”, “2”, “3”and “4”on
the panel) even if a zone is unused. Failure to do so will result in the zone showing a
violated state, which will prevent the panel from arming.
Zone Circuits must be wired up as per the “Typical EOL Zone Circuits” shown in
figure 1. It is recommended that a 0.4mm multi-core solid copper alloy cable be
used to wire up the zones.
Tamper Input
The Tamper input is not end of line monitored. It is located to the left of the siren
fuse and is labelled Tamper (reference Fig 1.) A “normally closed” switch or contact
must be connected to this input in order to operate correctly. If unused ensure that
a jumper is placed across the contact. Failure to add a jumper across this output
will prevent the panel from arming. This is indicated via the power LED blinking at a
faster rate of four times in on second versus once per second in a normal state
Siren Output
The Siren output is a normally open contact. It supplies power directly from the
battery through the siren fuse. A siren should be connected as shown in Figure 1.
Any Siren up to 30W in size can be connected to this output. The siren output
sounds Alarm, toot on arm and toot on disarm notifications. An Alarm toot sounds
for 1 minute. Toot on arm is a single beep for 1 second and toot on disarm is a dual
beep of 1 second in length.
Strobe Output
The Strobe is an uncommitted normally open contact. It is triggered by an alarm
condition in the armed state. Once triggered the strobe output will remain triggered
until the alarm panel is disarmed.

PGM Outputs 1
PGM 1 is primarily designed to be connected to a LED (no resistor required). It
displays the Arm Status. If the output is “ON” the Panel is in the armed state. If the
output is “OFF” the panel is in the disarmed state.
PGM Outputs 2
When a new Alarm condition is generated, PGM 2 will turn on momentarily for 1
second. This output is designed to link the Ezi4 Alarm Panel to either a
communicator input or to link the Ezi4 Alarm Panel to another panel.
Display
Five Light emitting diodes (LEDs) are mounted on the lid of the alarm panel as
shown in figure 4 below. The four red LEDs display the status of the Alarm Zones.
The fifth green LED indicates that the panel is “running” and shows the status of the
tamper input.

If the panel is in the disarmed state, violating a zone will cause the respective zone
LED to illuminate. Once the violation is removed the respective zone LED will
extinguish. If the panel is in the armed state, violating a zone will cause the
respective zone LED to illuminate. The respective zone LED will remain illuminated
until the panel is disarmed. If the tamper input is closed the power led will flash
once per second. If the tamper input open, the power led will flash four times per
second.
Violating a Zone
A zone is considered violated by the panel if it is shorted to “-“ or opened for a
period exceeding 300mS. This makes the Ezi4 alarm panel zone input suitable for
most sensor types with the exception being vibration switches.
Arming the Panel
The Ezi4 alarm panel will enter the armed state if the arm zone is violated whilst all
four alarm zones are un-violated and the tamper input is closed. The siren will
sound a single beep for 1 second (toot on arm) and PGM1 will illuminate.
Disarming the Panel
Regardless of the state of the alarm zones and tamper input, the panel will enter the
disarmed state when the arm zone is violated. The siren will issue a dual beep for 1
second (toot on disarm) and PGM1 will extinguish. If the strobe was active it will be
cancelled.
