that enables safe abandonment of an overturned canoe.
The drainage sleeve (19) in the rear part of the bottom secures
water drainage upon canoe fl ooding in rapids. Roll the drainage
sleeve into the boat during boating.
CAUTION
• It is necessary to suffi ciently practise undoing the
safety clip and abandoning an overturned canoe on
calm waters in advance!
• Prior to every use of the boat, check whether it is
necessary to observe any special regulations, re-
strictions or rules connected with the river, surface
of water or area in which you aim to operate.
CAUTION
The canoe is not designed to be towed behind motorboats,
nor may it be dragged or in any way stressed unusually.
Sharp edged or pointed items carried in the canoe
should be safely wrapped.
Place all valuables in a waterproof container and fasten
it to the canoe.
Over time, sunlight adversely aff ects the rubber coating
of the canoe; therefore, it is recommended to place the
canoe in the shade after every use.
CAUTION
• On large surfaces of water (seas or lakes), pay atten-
tion to water currents and off -shore breezes. Cu-
rrents and breezes may make it impossible to return
to shore.
• The Baraka canoe should not be used in challenging
conditions, such as in decreased visibility (night,
fog or rain).
Characteristics of Difficulty Grade WW IV – Very Difficult:
• Big rapids, waves, pillows, whirlpools and strong blockage;
inspection of the river sections to be tackled is recommended.
Subjective assumptions for riding wild waters graded WW IV:
• Excellent knowledge of techniques and tactics for riding
wild waters. The ability to realistically evaluate the difficulty
posed and the actual state of the river‘s waters. Knowledge
of live-saving techniques in the water and swimming skills
in wild waters. Physical and mental toughness.
• Technical equipment: Covered boats or boats with self-drai-
ning bottom; flotation life-jackets with a minimum displa-
cement of 7.5 kg, helmets, clothes to protect against cold
(neoprene) and safety instruments.
CAUTION
Pay extra attention to your choice of fl otation life-jacket.
The fl otation life-jacket should have a tag bearing details
of its fl otation capabilities and safety certifi cation.
5. Folding of the boat – see Fig. 3
Prior to folding the canoe, clean and dry it. By pressing down
on the valve-stems and turning them, you open the valves and
release the air from all chambers. Defl ation may be hastened
by rolling up the canoe in the direction of the valves or by ex-
hausting the air. Unlace the reinforcement drum. Dismantle
the seats and put the screws and nuts in the mesh bag. Put the
fi xation belts, elastic loops with ball and ropes for the reinfor-
ACCESSORIES SUPPLIED WITH THE CANOE:
Transport bag, compression strap for the compression of the
folded canoe, User’s Manual with warranty card, foam sponge,
gluing kit containing the glue, patches, valve adapter, spare
screw with plastic nut for the fi xation of the seat.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
Expedition transport bag with backpack system
3. Inflation instructions
Unfold the boat. Fasten the seats and fi xation belts by me-
ans of the screws and plastic nuts – see details A, B. Lace
the reinforcement drum by means of the rope – it is especi-
ally suitable when riding wild water. The air chambers shall
be infl ated in the following order: side drums (1), bottom (2).
For the infl ation it is favourable to use a foot pump or piston
pump with using the valve adapter – see Fig. 2b (the adapter
is a part of the gluing kit). Before the start of infl ating, check the
condition of the valves. Set the valves to the Closed position.
For the way of operating of the valve see Fig. 2. Infl ate the air
chambers to the set operating pressure. To identify the correct
value of operational pressure, use a pressure gauge with the
corresponding adapter (optional accessory) - see fi g. 2a. The
wrench for the installation of the valve – see Fig. 2c – is an
optional accessory.
CAUTION
The maximum operational pressure in air chambers is
0.02 MPa. If the ambient temperature increases (e.g.
owing to sunlight), the pressure in the air chambers of the
canoe can rise rapidly. We recommend releasing some air
from all air chambers of the canoe after pulling it out of
the water. This will prevent possible destruction of the air
chambers. However, do not forget to continuously check
air pressure in the chambers afterwards, too.
ATTENTION
When using the boat, always seal the valves with their
valve caps. This will keep dirt out of the valves. Dirt can-
cause leaky valve seals.
4. Using the canoe
The Baraka canoe is a two-seat infl atable canoe with selfdrain-
ing bottom.
Whenever the canoe is used on waterways, Waterway Traffi c
Rules should be observed. Operation of the Baraka infl atable
canoe does not require any licence provided the people who
operate the canoe know the techniques of small boat operation
within the scope necessary for its operation, as well as the valid
navigation rules of the particular country.
The design of the canoe enables it to be used it on wild waters
up to Diffi culty Grade WW IV, for water-based tourism activi-
ties on calm rivers and lakes, and expeditions requiring lots of
baggage. The canoe‘s advantages are good stability, manoeu-
vrability, space-saving design, easy transport and long lifetime.
The canoe is propelled by 2 paddlers sitting on the seats. The
seats are adjustable in the longitudinal direction according to
the paddlers‘ needs and the distribution of baggage in the ca-
noe. The central reinforcing cylinder can be used as a seat for
a child. All people in the boat must wear fl otation life-jackets.
Use canoe paddles.
When using the canoe on wild water, the paddlers kneel, sup-
ported by the seats; their thighs are fi xed by thigh-straps laced
through the fi xtures on the bottom at the appropriate distance
from the seat. The fi xing straps are equipped with a safety clip
3
cement drum in the second net bag. No sharp objects should
remain in the canoe.
Lay out the defl ated canoe on a clean surface and straighten
all its parts. Fold the sidewall cylinder lengthwise to overlap
the seal of the bottom by approx. 10 cm. Then fold the cylinder
lengthwise again, this time from the centre towards the exter-
nal edge. The top edge of the drum is approx. 5 cm from the
edge of the bottom. Repeat this procedure with the second
sidewall cylinder. Then fold the stern approx. (25–30) cm from
the end and gradually fold the canoe towards the bow, do not
roll up the drain sleeve – leave it loose on the bottom. At the
end fold the bow of the boat by approx. 30 cm and then fold up
towards the stem, so that you can put the reinforcement drum
between the folded corpus with its valve on the hole for the
drain sleeve, complete the packing. Fix the folded canoe with
the enclosed compression belt and insert it in the carry bag.
Finally, place the seats and the remaining accessories in the
bag, fasten the compression belts on the bag.
Expel the air from the bag, roll up the insertion end and fasten
it with clips.
6. Treatment and storage
The rubber surface coating of the boat is sensitive to oils, gas-
oline, toluene, acetone, kerosene and similar thinning agents.
Prior to storing a dirty boat, wash it down with warm soapy
water. Rinse the boat with fresh water after using the boat in
seawater. It is recommended to check the state of the infl ation
valves and the safety relief valves. If a valve is not airtight, it is
possible to unscrew the valve body from the boat with the use
of a special valve-key and clean its membrane with a strong jet
of water or compressed air. Prior to storage, it is recommen-
ded to rub the surface of the canoe with an agent intended for
the treatment of such surfaces, which has cleaning properties,
and which impregnates the material to prevent further dirtying,
or which is capable of forming a protective UV-fi lter. Never use
agents containing silicon when treating your boat. Store the
cleaned and dried boat in a dark, dry place at temperatures of
between 10–25 °C. During longterm storage, it is recommen-
ded to infl ate the boat for 24 hours from time to time to avoid
fatiguing the fold lines. It is also recommended to have the
boat serviced by the manufacturer‘s authorized service station
at least once every two or three years.
Proper care and treatment of the boat will increase its service
life.
7. Guarantee conditions
The guarantee period is 24 months and is calculated from the
date of sale.
The producer provides cost-free repairs or replacement of
faulty components for material faults or production faults.
The warranty does not cover any damage of the air chambers
resulting from higher than the prescribed working pressure.
8. Boat repairs
You can easily repair a damaged boat yourselves by means of
the accompanying gluing set.
Gluing:
• mark out the damaged area on the boat and choose an
appropriately sized patch;
• the surfaces of both patch and place to be glued must be
clean, dry and without traces of old glue;
• we recommend degreasing both surfaces with acetone in
order to achieve a perfect bond;
• spread a thin layer of glue on both surfaces to be glued and
repeat this step once the fi rst layer has dried;
• after the second layer has dried, press the patch fi rmly on
the damaged place, weigh down or use a rolling pin on
a fl at surface.
For minor repairs (punctures), it is possible to re-infl ate the
boat and continue using it after waiting for approx. 30 minutes;
after more serious repairs, you should wait for 24 hours before
using the repaired boat. Complicated repairs should be per-
formed by the manufacturer or at authorized service stations.
