Thiscylinderisintendedtostore,regulate,anddeliversupplemental
oxygentopatientswhomayhavedifficultyextractingoxygenfrom
theairtheybreathe.Itisforpatientswhowouldnormallyreceivethe
oxygenviaanasalcannula.ThedevicedeliversUSP93±3%oxygenat
anumberofdifferentflowsettings.Itisintendedtobeusedasan
oxygendeliverydeviceandmayincreasethedryingoutofairways.

NEVERoilorlubricatethecompressorcouplerorbottlefittings.
NEVERuseanypenetratingoilorlubricantsuchasWD-40®or
3-IN-ONE®.Ifconnectiondifficultyisexperienced,verifythatthe
bottlefittingisbeinginsertedstraightdownintothecompressor
coupler.Ifcontinueddifficultyisexperienced,contactyoursupplier
forassistance.
DONOTuseahumidifierwiththisproduct.
DONOTallowcylinderstotiporfall.Securegascylinderssothey
cannotfall.Ensurecylinderisalwaysinuprightposition.
DONOTstorecylindersnearsourcesofheatorflame.
Thisproductisequippedwithareliefvalve.Ifyouhearaloudhissing
orpoppingsoundcomingfromtheproduct,discontinueuseof

Thisproductisdesignedtooperatewithastandardorhighflow
duallumen,adultoxygennasalcannulawithamaximumlengthof

Thecannulaisforsinglepatientuseonly.
CannulaMUSTbeinstalledonoutletconnectionpriortouse.
DONOTplacetheunitunderclothingwhileinuse.Whenthis
productisinuseasmallamountofoxygenisvented.Wearingthe
unitunderclothingmaysaturatefabricswithoxygenandcausethem
toburnrapidlyifexposedtosparksorflame.Itmaytakeseveral
hoursforoxygenlevelsinfabricstoreturntonormal.
DONOTuseHomeFillcompressorunit,tofillcylinderoutdoors
oranywherebelow13°C(55°F).
NEVERattempttofillcylinderwithanythingotherthantheHomeFill
compressor.
2.3Disposal
Thisproducthasbeensuppliedfromanenvironmentallyaware

3.2CylinderPrefillInspection
RefertotheHomeFillowner’smanualforcompressor
operatinginstructions.

177°C(350°F)MUSTbewithdrawnfromservice
andcondemnedbytrainedpersonnel.DONOT
usecausticpaintstrippers.Valveandsafetyrelief
devicesMUSTberemovedandreplacedbytrained
andauthorizedpersonnel.DONOTalterorchange
valveassembly.

3.3TheHydrostaticTestingDate
AluminumcylindersMUSTundergotestingeveryfiveyears.
WARNING!
–DONOTfillcylindersthathavenotbeentested
inthepastfiveyears.Otherwise,seriouspersonal
injurymayresult.Contactyourdealer/HomeCare
equipmentproviderforreplacement.
3.4ExternalExamination
1.Examinetheoutsideofthecylinderforthefollowingconditions,
andreplacethecylinderiftheyexist:
•Dentsordings
•Arcburns
•Oilorgrease
•Anyothersignsofdamagethatmightcauseacylindertobe
unacceptableorunsafeforuse.
2.Examinethecylinderforevidenceoffireorthermaldamage.
evidenceincludescharringorblisteringofthepaint,orother
protectivecoatingorheatsensitiveindicator.Iffireorthermal
damageisfound,replacethecylinder.
3.Inspectthecylinderfillportforthefollowing:
•Debris,oilorgrease
•Noticeablesignsofdamage
•Signsofcorrosioninsidethevalve
•Signsofexcessiveheatorfiredamage
•Signsofpressureleaks
DONOTusethecylinderifanyoftheseitemsare
found.Contactyourdealer/HomeCareequipment
providerforreplacement.

1.Examinethecylindergauge.Ifthecylinderpressureislessthan
1500psig(10342kPa),proceedtoSTEP2.
Ifthecylinderpressureisgreaterthan1500psig(10342
kPa),DONOTattempttotopoffthiscylinder.Itmay
notfill.
2.Settheconserverflowdialonthecylinderto“O”.
3.Slowlyopentheshutoffvalvefully(counterclockwise).
4.Removethecylinderandconnectorfillportcovers.
CAUTION!
–DONOTconnecttheoutlet(cannula)connection
totheHomeFillunit,otherwisetheconserving
cylinderwillnotworkproperly.
5.MomentarilypushDOWNontheouterring(sleeve)ofthe
connectorfillportuntilGREENdotsarevisibletoresetthe
connector.
Iftheouterring(sleeve)isintheUPposition(GREEN
dotsnotvisible),theconnectorfillportwillnotbe
abletoacceptthecylinderfillport.PushingDOWN

fillport,releasetheouterring(sleeve)oftheconnectorfillport
andusetwohandstoremovethecylinderfromthecompressor
cradle.

fillingandwhenevernotinuse.Ifeitherofthe
fillportcoversaremissingcontactyourhealthcare

6.Placethefillportcoversontotheconnectorfillportandcylinder
fillport.
7.Examinethecylindergaugetoensurecylinderisfull(needle
pointingintoGREENarea).Ifthecylinderisnotfull,perform
thefollowing:
•RepeatSTEPS1–9ofConnectingtheCylindertothe
Compressor,page11.
•Ifcylinderisnotfullaftersecondattempttofill,contact
theprovider.
8.Slowlyclosetheshutoffvalvefully(clockwise).

2.Inspectthecylindercontentsgaugetoensurethepressureisat
least500psig(3447kPa).Ifbelow500psig(3447kPa),thenrefill
thecylinderusingtheHomeFillsystem.
WARNING!
–Whenpointeroncontentspressuregaugeenters
redzone,itisrecommendedtorefillthecylinder
ontheInvacareHomeFillCompressor.
3.Positionthecylindersotheoxygencylindervalveoutletis
pointingawayfromtheuserandanyotherperson(s).
WARNING!
–DONOTdirectflowofoxygenatanyperson,or
flammablematerialwhenadjustingtheflowdial.
4.Besuretheflowdialisinthe“O”position.Align“O”withthe
indicatorwindow.
5.Attachaduallumenadultoxygennasalcannulawithamaximum
lengthof2.1m(7feet)totheproduct’stwooutletconnections
accordingtothecannulamanufacturer’sinstructions.
Itdoesnotmatterwhichtubeisinstalledonwhich
outletconnection.
DONOTusepediatric,lowflownasalcannulasor
oxygenmaskswiththisproduct.
6.Placethecannulaoveryourearsandpositiontheprongsinyour
noseasinstructedbyyourHealthCareproviderorcannula
manufacturer.

Thecannulacancauseinjuryifimproperlypositioned
andsecured.
–ThecannulaMUSTberoutedandsecured
properly.
–DONOTpositionthecannulaaroundtheneck.
Ensurethepatientcanmovefreelywhilewearing

7.Ensuretherearenokinksortwistsinthecannulatubing.
8.SlowlyturntheshutoffvalveknobintheONdirection
(counterclockwise).
Thiswillallowcylinderpressuretotravelthroughthe
regulator.
9.Usetheswitchtoselectoneofthefollowingmodes:
•ContinuousFlow
•ConservingPulse

Thefirstthreeflows(0.25,0.50and0.75L/min)arein
continuousmodeatalltimes,regardlessoftheswitch
position.
10.Turnflowdialuntiltheindicatorwindowisalignedwiththe
prescribedsetting.
Whentherearetwonumbersdisplayedintheindicator
window,thelargernumberisthePULSEflowsettingand
thesmallernumberistheCONTINUOUSflowsetting.
WARNING!
–NOOXYGENisdeliveredbetweensettings.
–Toavoidinjurytopatient,ALWAYSconfirm
prescribedsettingbeforeadministeringtopatient
andmonitorflowonafrequentbasis.
–OnlyusetheInvacareCorporationcarryingbag.
11.Breathethroughthenoseandfeelapulseofoxygenasyouinhale.
Whenonapulsesetting,thereisflow,orapulse,onlyat
thebeginningofeachbreath.Ifyoudonotfeelthepulse
atthebeginningofeachbreath,checkthesetting.
Becauseeachpatient’sbreathingpatternisdifferentand
theenvironmentvaries,itmaybedifficulttofeelsome
lowsettingpulses.
Ifoperatingthecylinderbelow1.7ºC(35ºF)usethe2
L/Mincontinuoussettingonly.
Whentheunitisfirstswitchedfrompulsetocontinuous
flow,asingleinhalationisrequiredtoinitiatethe
continuousflow.
12.Whenfinishedusingthecylinder,performthefollowingsteps:
a.Turntheflowdialtothe“O”position.
b.Turntheshutoffvalveclockwisetoturnofftheregulator.
