A careful operator is the best operator.
Most accidents can be avoided by ob-
serving certain precautions. To help pre-
vent accidents, read and take these
safety precautions and pay attention to
the job at hand. If you can prevent an
accident in advance, your time will have
been spent well.
BEFORE OPERATING THE
TRACTOR
1. Read this entire manual carefully be-
fore using the tractor. Lack of operat-
ing knowledge leads to accidents.
2. Only allow properly trained and quali-
fied persons to operate the tractor.
4. Replace all missing, illegible or dam-
aged safety decals. See list of decals
on page 1-21.
5. Keep safety decals free of dirt or
grime.
6. To prevent falls, use the handholds and
step plates when getting on and off
the tractor. Keep step and platform
clear of mud and debris.
7. When working in the field or muddy
areas, be sure to scrape off mud or
soil from the bottom of your shoes be-
fore mounting the tractor.
8. Watch where you are going at all time.
Watch for and avoid obstacles.
9. Before starting the tractor, check to
see that there are no people around.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1-3
069O102A 069O103A 069O104A
10.Before driving the tractor in reverse,
check to see that there are no ob-
stacles around.
11.Never operate the tractor or any agri-
cultural equipment while under the
influence of alcohol or other drugs
which impair operation, or while
fatigued.
12.When working in cooperation with
other tractors, let the other drivers
know what you are doing.
13.Do not start engine by shorting across
starter terminals.
14.Never start engine while standing on
the ground. 15.Do not permit anyone but the opera-
tor to ride on the tractor unless a pas-
senger seat is fitted. Keep bystand-
ers away from the tractor during
operation.
16.Before allowing other people to use
your tractor, explain how to operate
and lend this manual beforehand.
17.Before getting off the tractor, be sure
to stop the engine, set the brake, re-
move the key and lower the imple-
ment to the ground.

1-4 DK55
069O106A069O105A
18. Do not modify or alter or permit any-
one else to modify or alter the trac-
tor or any of its components or any
tractor function without first consult-
ing a KIOTI dealer.
19. Before starting the engine, sit in the
seat, disengage the clutch, and place
shift levers in the neutral position.
Fasten seat belt if equipped with
ROPS.
20. For your safety ROPS with a seat
belt is recommended by KIOTI for
most applications.
Check operator’s manual and discus
your local dealer.
NOTE
Always use seat belt when the trac-
tor is equipped with a ROPS. Never
use the seat belt when tractor is not
equipped with a ROPS.
(ROPS:Roll OverProtectiveStructures)
Never modify structural members of
ROPS by welding, grinding or cutting as
this may weaken the Structure. If any
component is damaged, replace it.
Do not attempt repairs. If ROPS is loos-
ened or removed for any reason, make
certain all parts are fitted in position.
Tighten mounting bolts to proper torque,
see ROPS installation instruction.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1-5

21.Tractors with narrow tread width re-
quire extra driving caution to avoid tip
over. You can improve stability by
adjusting rear wheels to maximum
tread width, see page 35.
(1) Max. tread width (2) Rear wheels
1. Apply the parking brake, the lift con-
trol lever in the down position and the
transmission levers in neutral before
starting the tractor.
2. Avoid accidental contact with the gear
shift levers while the engine is
running. Unexpected tractor movement
can result in bodily injury.
3. Shut off the engine and P.T.O. and
apply the packing brake before get-
ting off the tractor.
OPERATING THE TRACTOR
4. Do not park the tractor on a steep
incline.

1-6 DK55
069O110A 069O111A 069O112A
5. Do not operate the tractor engine in
an enclosed building without adequate
ventilation. Exhaust fumes can cause
death.
6. Pull only from the drawbar. Never hitch
to axle housing or any other point ex-
cept drawbar; such arrangements
only increase the risk of serious per-
sonal injury or death due to a tractor
upset.
7. If the front of the tractor tends to rise
up when heavy implements are at-
tached to the three-point hitch, the
weights should be installed on the
tractor. Do not operate the tractor with
a light front end.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1-7
069O113A 069O114A
14. Watch where you are going at all
times. Watch for and avoid obstacles.
Be alert at row ends, near trees, and
other obstructions.
15.Remember that your tractor, if incor-
rectly used, can be dangerous and
become a hazard both to the opera-
tor and to bystanders. Do not over-
load or operate with attached equip-
ment which is unsafe, not designed
for the particular task or is poorly
maintained. Refer to “Specifications
of Implement Limitations” recom-
mended by KIOTI Dealer, which out-
lines the maximum loads for safe trac-
tor operation.
8. Tighten all connections before start-
ing the engine or pressurizing lines.
9. Do not leave equipment in the raised
position when the vehicle is stopped
or unattended.
10.When installing or using an implement
or other attachment with the tractor,
be sure to read the implement
operator’s manual to learn safe oper-
ating procedures and keep these pre-
cautions in mind.
11.Know your equipment and its limita-
tions.
12.When using an implement, be sure to
install the proper ballast weight on the
tractor.
13. Driving forward out of a ditch or
mired condition or up a steep slope
risk a tractor to be upset backwards.
Always back out of these situations.
Extra caution is required with four-
wheel drive models because their
higher traction can give the operator
false confidence in the tractor’s abil-
ity to climb slopes.
16. To avoid upsets, always back up
steep slopes. Stay off hills and
slopes too steep for safe operation.
17. Do not operate near ditches, holes,
embankments, or other terrain fea-
tures which may collapse under the
tractor’s weight. The risk of tractor
upset is even higher when the
ground is loose or wet.
18. When working in groups, always let
the others know what you are going
to do before you do it.
19. Never “freewheel”. Disengaging the
clutch or shifting into neutral while
descending a slope could lead to a
loss of control.

1-8 DK55
069O115A 069O116A 069O117A
20.Never try to get on or off a moving
tractor. 1. Lock the brake pedals together when
traveling at road speeds. Brake both
wheels simultaneously when making
an emergency stop. Uneven braking
at road speeds could cause the trac-
tor to tip over.
DRIVING THE TRACTOR
(1) Brake Pedal(LH) (3) Brake Pedal Lock
(2) Brake Pedal(RH)
(A) Whenever travelling on the road 2. Always slow the tractor down before
turning. Turning at high speed may tip
the tractor over.
3. Observe all local traffic and safety
regulations.
4. Turn the headlights on. Dim them when
meeting another vehicle.
5. Drive at speeds that allow you to main-
tain control at all times.
6. Do not apply the differential lock while
traveling at road speeds. The tractor
may run out of control.
7. Avoid sudden motions of the steering
wheel as they can lead to a danger-
ous loss of stability. The risk is espe-
cially great when the tractor is travel-
ing at road speeds.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1-9

PARKING THE TRACTOR
1. Disengage the PTO, lower all
implements, place all control levers in
their neutral position, set the parking
brake, stop the engine, and remove
the key.
2. Make sure that the tractor has come
to a complete stop before dismounting.
8. Make sure that the Slow Moving Ve-
hicle (SMV) sign is clean and visible.
Use hazard lights as required.
(1) PTO Shaft cover (2) PTO Shaft cap
OPERATING THE PTO
1. Wait until all moving components have
completely stopped before getting off
the tractor, connecting, disconnecting,
adjusting, cleaning, or servicing any
PTO driven equipment
2. Keep the PTO shaft cover in place at
all times. Replace the PTO shaft cap
when the shaft is not in use.
3. Before installing or using PTO driven
equipment, read the maunfacturer’s
manual and review the safety labels
attached to the equipment.

4. When operating stationary PTO driven
equipment, always apply the tractor
parking brake and place chocks be-
hind and in front of the rear wheels.
Stay clear of all rotating parts.
1. Use the 3-point hitch only with equip-
ment designed for 3-point hitch usage.
2. When using a 3-point hitch mounted
implement, be sure to install the proper
counterbalance weight on the front of
the tractor.
USING 3-POINT HITCH
Before servicing the tractor, park it on a
firm level surface, set the parking brake,
place the gear shift lever in neutral and
stop the engine.
1. Do not smoke when working around
battery or when refueling. Keep all
sparks and flames away from battery
and fuel tank. The battery presents an
explosive hazard because it gives off
hydrogen and oxygen… especially
when recharging.

2. Keep first aid kit and fire extinguisher
handy at all times.
3. Allow the tractor time to cool off be-
fore working on or near the engine,
muffler, radiator, etc
4. Always stop the engine before
refueling. Avoid spills and overfilling.
5. Before “jump starting” a dead battery,
read and follow all of the instructions.
6. Do not remove radiator cap while cool-
ant is hot. When cool, slowly rotate
cap to the first stop and allow suffi-
cient time for excess pressure to es-
cape before removing the cap
completely. If the tractor has a cool-
ant recovery tank, add coolant there
instead of to the radiator.
7. Disconnect the battery’s ground cable
before working on or near electric
components.
8. To avoid sparks from an accidental
short circuit, always disconnect the
battery’s ground cable first and con-
nect it last.
9. Do not attempt to mount a tire. This
should be done by a qualified person
with the proper equipment.

1-12 DK55
069O127A 0691D28A 069O129A
10.Always maintain the correct tire
pressure. Do not inflate tires above
the recommended pressure shown in
the operator’s manual.
11.Securely support the tractor when
changing wheels or the wheel tread
width.
12.Make sure that wheel bolts have been
tightened to the specified torque.
(1) Cardboard (3) Magnifying glass
(2) Hydraulic line
13.Escaping hydraulic fluid under pres-
sure has sufficient force to penetrate
skin, causing serious personal injury.
Before disconnecting hydraulic
system, make sure that all connec-
tions are tight and that all line, pipes,
and hoses are free of damage.
Fluid escaping from pinholes may be
invisible. Do not use hands to search for
suspected leaks; Use of safety goggles
If injured by escaping fluid, see a medi-
cal doctor at once. This fluid can pro-
duce gangrene or severe allergic
reaction.
