TheSimradCP60isacost-effectivecurrentproler.Itcanmeasurecurrentinupto5
layersofcurrentindividuallysetbytheuserinthewatercolumn.Themeasurements
providedarethespeedofthecurrentandtheNSWEdirection.Abackscatterdisplay
foreachchannelisalsopresent.
Whenpurchasedasastand-alonesystem,youneedacomputerandamonitorinaddition
toatransceiverandatransducertousetheSimradCP60.Thetransduceris200kHz,
whichgivesadeep-enoughrangeformostpurseseines.TheCP60systemcanalsobe
integratedintotheES80withitsowntabandpop-upwindow.
ThecurrentdataprovidedbytheCP60systemcanbeexportedtootherequipment.
AlthoughthesystemisespeciallydesignedforexportingtoSimradsonars,itsstandard
NMEAcurrenttelegrammakesitpossibletointerfaceitwithotherproducts.
Inadditiontothecurrentmeasurements,theCP60systemalsohasabuilt-insingle
beamechosounder.Thebeamhasanopeningangleof27°,whichmakesitidealforsh
detectionhighupinthewatercolumn,i.e.beforesettingthepurseseineorinsimilar
scenarios.

Thecurrentmeasurementscanbeseenontherightofthepictureinanumericview
andaPPIviewwitharrows.YoucanalsogetSpeedOverGround(SOG)andCourse
OverGround(COG).
TheCP60hasoneadditionalinternaltransducerwitha27°openinganglepointing
straightdown.Thesystemcanalsousetwobeamsfromthecurrentmeasurement.These
beamspoint60°toeachsideand15°forward,andhavea5°openingangle.This
functionhasbeenproventobeveryusefulfordeterminingatwhichsidetheschoolis.

TheProcessorUnitisthecomputerthatcontrolstheCP60system.Itisavitalpartofthe
CP60system.TheProcessorUnitcontainstheoperationalsoftware,andofferstheuser
interfacethatallowsyoutocontroltheCP60system.Furthermore,itoffersanumberof
serialandEthernetlinesforcommunicationwithexternaldevices.TheProcessorUnitis
normallymountedonthebridge.Inthispublication,thecomputercanalsobereferred
toastheProcessorUnit,andviceversa.
ThecomputerisnotastandardpartoftheCP60
delivery.Ifyouwanttouseyourowncomputer,
makesurethatitmeetstheminimumrequirementsfor
operation.
Thecomputermustmeettheoperatingsystem

ThedefaulttransceiverprovidedwiththeCP60systemistheWideBandTransceiver
(WBT).TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isprovidedtotransmitacousticenergyinto
thewater.Aftereachtransmission,thetransceiverreceivestheechoesfromtheseabed
and/orthewatercolumn.Theseechoesareltered,ampliedandnallyconverted
intodigitalformat.Thistransmissionandreceptionsequenceiscommonlyreferredto
asaping.
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)comprisesarugged
boxprovidingallnecessarytransmitterandreceiver
electronics.Thereceiverisdesignedforlownoise,
anditcanhandleinputsignalsspanningaverylarge
instantaneousdynamicamplituderange.Alltargetsare
correctlymeasured.Thetransceiveroperateswithina
largefrequencyband,andsupportssinglefrequencies,
frequencysweep(chirp)anduserdenedwaveforms.
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isdesignedforapplicationswhereperformance
isthetoppriority.Ithasfour500Wchannelsthatcaneitherworkindependently
withsinglebeamtransducers,ortogetherwithasplitbeamtransducer.Thedesignis
optimizedforapplicationswherepowerconsumptionandphysicalsizeisnotcritical.
AhighqualityEthernetcableconnectstheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)tothe
