inademandingmaritimeenvironment.TheProcessorUnitcontainstheoperational
software,andofferstheuserinterfacethatallowsyoutocontroltheechosounder
system.Furthermore,itoffersanumberofserialandEthernetlinesforcommunication
withexternaldevices.TheProcessorUnitisnormallymountedonthebridge.

soundersystemsoftware.USBportscanalsobeusedtoconnectakeyboardanda

rackoronadesk.Makesurethatampleventilationisprovidedtoavoidoverheating.A
dedicatedinstallationprocedureisprovided.
Prerequisites
Youmustbeequippedwithastandardsetoftools.This
toolsetmustcomprisethenormaltoolsforelectronic
andelectromechanicaltasks.Thisincludesdifferent
screwdrivertypes,pliers,spanners,acablestripper,
asolderingiron,etc.Eachtoolmustbeprovided
invarioussizes.Werecommendthatalltoolsare
demagnetizedtoprotectyourequipment.
AsuitablelocationfortheProcessorUnitmustbedenedbeforeinstallation.Observe
thecompasssafedistance.

Youmustbeabletoreachandusethefrontandrearmountedconnectorsandon/off
switches.Itisalsoimportantthatyouallowforeasyaccesstoallthecomputer
cables,andenoughspaceforinspection,maintenanceandpartsreplacement.

unobstructedaccesstoitsinternalparts.

Projectcables
Theechosoundersystemisoftenapartofaprojectdelivery.Forsuchdeliveries,
specicprojectcabledrawingsareestablishedtoshowallthemaincables,and
howthevariousproductsareconnected.Insuchprojectcabledrawings,theecho
soundersystemcablesmaybeidentiedasechosounder/Cx.
ACPowercables
StandardcommercialACmainscablesareused.Eachcableissuppliedwiththe
relevantunit.Thetypicalcablelengthisbetween1,5and2meters.Ifthisistoo
shortyoumustuseanextensioncable(not
recommended),mountanewpower
outletwithinrange,ormakeyourownpowercablewithsufcientlength.
C2:ThiscableisonlyrequirediftheProcessorUnitoperatesfromACpower.
C5Videocable
Thisisacommercialcable.Thedisplaycableisoftenphysicallyattachedtothe
display,andterminatedinthe“computerend”withamaleconnector.Ifthecable
isnotattached,itisnormallyprovidedwiththedisplay.Keepthedisplaycableas
shortaspossible.Ifthecableistoolong,itmaypickupelectricnoise,andthis
willreducetheimagequality.ThegraphicadapterontheProcessorUnitprovides
severaldisplayconnectors.YoucanuseoneortwodisplaysonyourProcessorUnit
dependingonpersonaland/oroperationalpreferences.Withmorethanonedisplay
connected,usetheoperatingsystemfunctionalitytocontrolthepresentations.
C6DCPowercable
ThiscableisonlyrequirediftheProcessorUnitoperatesfromDCpower.
C8Ethernetcable
Itisveryimportantthathigh-qualityEthernetcablesareused.Y oumustuse
Cat5eSTP(ShieldedTwistedPair)qualityorbetter.Usingcableswithlower
bandwidthcapacitywillreduceperformance.Donot

theexistinglocalareanetwork(LAN).Westronglyrecommendthatyouinstall
