Literature # 055-MKCTN-000
A. The ENR dimmer pack shall be freestanding, no larger than 14.65" (37.2 cm)
wide x 13" (33 cm} high, and 9.62" (24.4 cm) deep. It shall be constructed of
code gauge formed steel and aluminum structural members with molded heavy-
duty rubber top and bottom. All load connectors and terminals shall be silver
plated copper. All exterior surfaces shall be finished in grey or black polyurethane
paint. The dimmer pack shall weigh no more than 23.5 Ibs. (10.6 kg) empty, or
461bs. (20 kg) including dimmers and control modules.
B. The pack shall be constructed to permit insertion and removal of dimmers and
control modules without the use of tools. Positive, interlocking guides shall be
provided for precise alignment of the dimmers to the signal and power
connectors in the pack. Dimmer supports shall be incorporated into the sides of
the pack, allowing clear access to power, load, and neutral terminals.
C. The pack is designed to contain 6 plug-in dimmer modules (either dual 1.8kW,
dual 2.4kW, or single 6kW dimmers). Each module position shall have a mating
power bus, one or two load connectors and three gold-plated PC signal contacts
and shall be mechanically keyed to accept only the dimmer module specified for
that position. The control module shall include appropriate control signal terminal
blocks and a signal distribution connector.
D. The pack shall contain a continuous duty low noise fan to maintain
temperatures at proper operating levels with all dimmers under full load at
ambient temperatures up to 40'C, and be provided with an airflow sensor to shut
off dimmers in the pack in the event of unsafe airflow conditions. A signal shall
be provided to operate a remote airflow LED if the airflow sensor has been
activated. Cooling air shall be drawn through the dimmers and exhausted from
the rear of the pack. Since there is no air flow over any electrical connectors in
the dimmer no filter connections shall be required.
E. The pack shall have a latchable door with a maximum swing radius of 4 1/2".
A blank label shall be provided inside the door and directly adjacent to each
dimmer for user identification of each circuit.
F. The Dimmer Pack shall be designed to operate from the specified voltage and
type of electrical service with line bussing sized for the specified ampacity. All
power and signal connections within the pack shall be factory wired to tubular
screw termination points or to appropriate connections and neatly dressed.
Adequate space shall be provided for installation of field wiring per code. The
main feed shall be field convertible either 30 4-wire or 10 3-wire input power .
All feed, load and control cables shall connect on the rear of the pack.
G. All auxiliary equipment necessary for the operation of the pack under theintent
of these specifications shall be furnished and shall include, but not be limited to,
overload and short-circuit protection. All exterior control indicating and protection
devices shall be appropriately labeled.
H. Dimmer pack shall be factory tested and all control modules burned in at
elevated temperatures and voltage for a period of 4 hours. The entire assembly
shall be UL listed and labeled with a UL interrupting rate of 10,000A for dimmer
packs designed to accept 120V dimmer modules.
