Information about the Prototype
At the beginning of the 1930s the special requirements on
the grades for the Gotthard route led to comprehensive tests
of a new type of locomotive. The necessary tractive effort
was so immense that only a double locomotive could satisfy
these requirements. The new class Ae 8/14 was placed into
service in 1931. With a service weight of 240 metric tons (ap-
prox. 266 tons) and 8 traction motors, this giant unit achieved
a tractive effort of 50 tons. The hourly output of 7,500 hp
was transmitted to the wheels with the proven Buchli drive
borrowed from the Ae 4/7. This provided good running cha-
racteristics on sharp curves and turnout branches.
Today locomotive 11 801 is stationed at the Erstfeld Depot as
an operational museum locomotive.
Informationen zum Vorbild
Die besonderen Erfordernisse der Steilrampen der Gotthard-
strecke führten zu Beginn der 1930er Jahre zu eingehenden
Untersuchungen über einen
neuen Loktyp. Die notwendigen Zugleistungen waren so
gewaltig, dass nur eine Doppel-Lokomotive diese Anforde-
rungen erfüllen konnte. Im Jahr 1931 wurde die neue Serie
Ae 8/14 in Dienst gestellt. Durch das Dienstgewicht von 240
Tonnen und die 8 Fahrmotoren erreichte diese monumen-
tale Maschine eine Anfahrzugkraft von 50 Tonnen. Die
Stundenleistung von 7.500 PS wurde durch den von der Ae
4/7 bewährten Buchli-Antrieb übertragen. Dies ermöglichte
gute Fahreigenschaften auch auf kleinen Kurvenradien und
abzweigenden Weichen.
Heute ist die Lokomotive 11801 im Depot Erstfeld als be-
triebsfähige Museumsmaschine stationiert.

Informatie van het voorbeeld
De bijzondere eisen op de steile hellingen van het
Gotthard-traject leidden aan het begin van de jaren dertig
tot diepgaande onderzoeken naar een nieuw loctype. De
vereiste trekvermogens waren zo enorm dat alleen een dub-
bele loc-eenheid deze eisen aankon. In 1931 werd de nieu-
we serie Ae 8/14 in dienst genomen. Door het dienstgewicht
van 240 ton en de 8 tractiemotoren bereikte deze monumen-
tale machine een aanzetkracht van 50 ton. Het uurvermogen
van 7.500 pk werd door de beproefde Buchli-aandrijving
overgebracht. Dit leverde goede rij-eigenschappen ook in
kleine boogstralen en op aftakkende wissels.
Tegenwoordig is locomotief 11 801 in het depot als bedrijfs-
vaardige museumslocomotief gestationeerd.
Informations concernant la locomotive réelle
Les exigences particulières des rampes escarpées de la
ligne du Gotthard ont nécessité des études approfondies
concernant un nouveau type de locomotive au début des
années 30. Les puissances de traction nécessaires étaient
si élevées que seule une locomotive double pouvait satis-
faire à ces exigences. La nouvelle série Ae 8/14 fut mise en
service en 1931. Grâce à son poids de service de 240 tonnes
et à ses 8 moteurs de traction, cette machine monumentale
développait une puissance de traction au démarrage de 50
tonnes. La puissance horaire de 7 500 CV était transmise par
l’entraînement Buchli qui avait déjà fait ses preuves avec la
locomotive Ae 4/7. On disposait ainsi de bonnes propriétés
de circulation même sur de petits rayons de courbes et des
aiguillages.
Aujourd’hui, la locomotive 11 801 est stationnée dans le
dépôt de Erstfeld où elle tient lieu de machine de musée
apte au fonctionnement.

analog drift måste anlutningsskenan vara avstörd. Till
detta använder man anslutningsgarnityr 74046 med av-
störning och överbelastningsskydd. Avstörningsskyddet
får inte användas vid digital körning.
• Modellenfårinteutsättasfördirektsolljus,häftigatem-
peraturväxlingar eller hög luftfuktighet.
• VARNING! Funktionsbetingade vassa kanter och spetsar.
