1.0 INSTALLATION
The Sounder should be positioned
using the two of the 4 available
xing holes in the base. MEDC
recommend that stainless steel nuts
and bolts be used, if the environ-
ment is corrosive.
The Sounder will operate in any
attitude – from horizontal to verti-
cal. However, it is important to note
that the alignment of the Sounder
should ensure that:-
1. Dust or debris cannot lodge or
settle in the cover apertures.
2. Water from hoses, jets or rain
cannot settle in the cover aper-
tures.
The Sounder should be installed
in accordance with certied pa-
rameters.
This apparatus has been designed
in accordance with EN50 014 and
EN50 020, therefore the apparatus
has been designed to meet the fault
tolerant requirements of Electrical
Apparatus for Category ‘ia’.
This product is an electrical appa-
ratus and must be installed in the
hazardous area in accordance with
the requirements of the EC Type Ex-
amination Certicate.
The installation and maintenance
must be carried out in accordance
with all appropriate international,
national and local standard codes
of practice and site regulations for
intrinsically safe apparatus and in
accordance with the instructions
contained within this manual.
Access to the circuitry must not be
made during operation.
The equipment must only be in-
stalled, operated and maintained
by trained competent personnel.
The product must not be installed in
a position where it may be attacked
by aggressive substances.
1.1 Removing/Replacing the
Cover/Horn
Remove the cover/horn of the
sounder by unscrewing the 3 x-
ing screws (hexagon key size 3mm

In korrosiven Umgebungen empehlt
MEDC die Verwendung von Muttern
und Schrauben aus Edelstahl.
Der Schallgeber funktioniert in jeder
Lage - von waagrecht bis senkrecht.
Es ist allerdings unbedingt darauf
zu achten, dass bei der Ausrichtung
des Schallgebers folgende Punkte
berücksichtigt werden:
1. Staub und Schmutz dürfen sich
nicht in den Deckelöffnungen ab-
setzen oder niederlassen.
2. Wasser aus Schläuchen oder
Düsen sowie Regenwasser dürfen
sich nicht in denn Deckelöffnungen
ansammeln.
Des Schallgeber ist in Übereinstim-
mung mit den zertizierten Param-
etern zu installieren.
Dieses Gerät wurde gemäß
EN50014 und EN50 020 konstruiert,
somit erfüllt das Gerät konstruktions-
gemäß die Fehlertoleranzkriterien für
Elektrogeräte der Kategorie “ia”.
Dieses Produkt ist ein Elektrogerät
und muss in Gefahrenbereichen
in Übereinstimmung mit den An-
forderungen der EG-Prüfbescheini-
gung installiert werden.
Installation und Wartung müs-
sen in Übereinstimmung mit allen
anzuwendenden internationalen,
nationalen und regionalen Stand-
ard-Merkblättern und Installation-
sort-Regelungen für eigensichere
Geräte und in Übereinstimmung
mit den in diesem Handbuch zu
ndenden Anweisungen erfolgen.
Während des Betriebs darf kein
Zugriff auf die Verdrahtungs- und
Schaltungstechnik erfolgen.
Die Ausrüstungsgegenstände dürfen
nur von ausgebildetem kompetentem
Personal installiert, betrieben und in-
standgehalten werden.
Das Produkt darf nicht an einer
Stellen installiert werden, wo es von
aggressiven Substanzen angegriffen
werden könnte.
1.0 INSTALLATION
L’équipement doit être installé au
moyen de deux des quatre trous
de xation. MEDC recommande
l’utilisation de xations en acier
inoxydable lorsque l’atmosphère
est corrosive.
L’avertisseur sonore fonctionne
dans n’importe quelle position, de
l’horizontale à la verticale. Il faut
cependant noter que la position
de l’équipement doit permettre
d’empêcher :
1. l’accumulation de poussière ou
de débris dans les ouvertures
2. la pénétration d’eau de pluie
ou d’eau projetée par un tuyau,
un jet, etc.
L’avertisseur doit être installé
conformément aux paramètres
certiés.
Cet équipement ayant été conçu
conformément aux prescriptions des
normes EN50014 et EN50020, il
répond aux exigences de tolérance
des équipements électriques de
catégorie ia.
Pour l’installation de cet équipe-
ment électrique dans une zone
dangereuse, les prescriptions du
certicat de type CE doivent être
respectées.
L’installation et la maintenance
doivent être effectuées conformé-
ment aux codes de pratique in-
ternationaux, nationaux et locaux
ainsi qu’aux règlements du site
applicables aux équipements à
sécurité intrinsèque et en se con-
formant aux instructions de cette
notice. Lorsque l’équipement est
en fonctionnement, le circuit doit
rester inaccessible.
L’installation, l’utilisation et la
maintenance de cet équipement
ne doivent être conées qu’à un
personnel compétent et formé
pour ces tâches.
L’équipement ne doit pas être
installé dans un emplacement où
il peut être soumis à l’action de
substances agressives.

gently away from the base.
Replacing the cover/horn is a re-
verse process of the above, but care
should be taken to ensure that the
seal is securely located in its groove
during re-assembly.
1.2 Cable Termination
Cable termination should be in ac-
cordance with specications apply-
ing to the application. MEDC rec-
ommend that all cables and cores
should be fully identied.
Ensure that only the correct glands
are used and that the assembly is
shrouded.
2.0 OPERATION
The product must be protected from
excessive dust.
During the operation of the
Sounder, ensure it is checked at
regular intervals to ensure that no
debris has collected in the cover
apertures or that the Sounder has
not been damaged.
The product must not be subjected
to mechanical and thermal stresses
in excess of those permitted in the
certification documentation and
this manual.
There are no exposed parts of the
apparatus which produce excessive
surface temperature, infrared, elec-
tromagnetic, ionising radiation or
non electrical dangers.
Information regarding tone selec-
tion and installation is contained
within each unit supplied.
The unit is tted with a volume con-
trol which is situated adjacent to the
terminal block. Maximum volume
is obtained when this control is
turned fully clockwise.
The product has been designed
such that the protection afforded
will not be reduced due to the
corrosion of materials, electrical
conductivity, impact strength, age-
ing resistance and the effects of
temperature variation.
1.1 Abbau/ Wiederanbringung
des Deckels/Horns
Entfernen Sie Deckel/Horn des
Schallgebers, indem Sie die 3 Befes-
tigungsschrauben lösen (3mm In-
busschlüssel) und Deckel/Horn vor-
sichtig vom Unterteil wegziehen.
Das Wiederanbringen des Deckels/
Horns erfolgt in umgekehrter Reihen-
folge, wobei darauf zu achten ist,
dass die Dichtung beim Zusam-
mensetzen fest in ihrer Nut sitzt.
1.2 Kabelendverschluss
Der Kabelendverschluss ist in Über-
einstimmung mit den für die An-
wendung geltenden Spezikationen
durchzuführen. MEDC empfiehlt,
alle Kabel und Adern vollständig zu
kennzeichnen.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass nur An-
schlussstutzen mit der richtigen
Zertizierung benutzt werden.
2.0 BETRIEB
Das Produkt muss vor übermäßigen
Staubmengen geschützt werden.
Beim Betrieb des Schallgebers
ist sicherzustellen, dass er in
regelmäßigen Abständen daraufhin
überprüft wird, dass sich kein
Schmutz in den Deckelöffnungen
angesammelt hat und der Schallgeber
nicht beschädigt wurde.
Das Produkt darf keinen mechan-
ischen und thermischen Belastungen
ausgesetzt werden, die über das in
den Zertikatsdokumenten und in
diesem Handbuch festgelegte Maß
hinausgehen.
Das Gerät verfügt über keine
ungeschützten Teile, die über-
mäßige Oberächentemperaturen,
Infrarot-, elektromagnetische oder
ionisierende Strahlung oder nicht-
elektrische Gefahren erzeugen.
Informationen über die Tonwahl und
Installation liegen jedem gelieferten
Gerät bei.
Das Gerät ist mit einem Lautstärk-
eregler ausgestattet, der neben dem
Anschlussblock angeordnet ist. Die
höchste Lautstärke wird erreicht,
wenn diese Bedienungseinrichtung
im Uhrzeigersinn bis zum Anschlag
gedreht wird.
1.1 Dépose du couvercle/pavillon
Déposer le couvercle en dévissant
les trois vis de xation (clé Allen
3 mm) puis en tirant doucement
dessus.
Pour remettre le couvercle en place,
suivre la procédure inverse. Vérier
que le joint est parfaitement posi-
tionné dans son logement.
1.2 Eléments de connexion des
câbles
La connexion des câbles doit se
faire conformément aux spécica-
tions pertinentes. MEDC recom-
mande d’identier clairement tous
les câbles et ls.
Vérier que les presse-étoupe du
type correct sont utilisés et que
l’ensemble est protégé.
2.0 FONCTIONNEMENT
L’équipement doit être protégé
contre l’exposition à une poussière
excessive.
Pendant le fonctionnement, vérier
régulièrement que l’équipement n’a
subi aucun dommage et qu’aucune
matière étrangère ne s’accumule
dans les ouvertures.
L’équipement ne doit être soumis à
aucune contrainte mécanique ou
thermique dépassant les valeurs
autorisées dans la documenta-
tion de certication et dans cette
notice.
L’équipement ne comporte aucune
pièce exposée dégageant une
chaleur excessive, un rayonne-
ment infrarouge, électromagnétique
ou ionisant et ne présente aucun
risque électrique.
Les informations concernant
les réglages et l’installation de
l’équipement sont indiquées à
l’intérieur de chaque unité.
L’avertisseur sonore comporte un
bouton de commande de volume
situé à côté du bornier. Le volume
maximum est obtenu en tournant
le bouton à fond dans le sens des
aiguilles d’une montre.

3.0 MAINTENANCE
During the working life of the
Sounder, it should require little or
no maintenance. However, if ab-
normal or unusual environmental
conditions occur due to plant dam-
age or accident etc., then visual
inspection is recommended.
The product cannot be repaired by
the user and must be replaced by
an identical unit.

3.0 INSTANDHALTUNG
Während des Arbeitslebens des
Geräts sollte es wenig oder keinen
Instandhaltungsbedarf geben.
Wenn allerdings aufgrund eines
Anlagenschadens oder Unfalls
etc. ungewöhnliche Umgebungs-
bedingungen auftreten, wird eine
Sichtprüfung empfohlen.
Das Produkt kann vom Benutzer nicht
repariert werden und muss durch ein
identisches Gerät ersetzt werden.

3.0 MAINTENANCE
Durant toute sa durée de vie,
l’équipement ne nécessite aucune
ou peu de maintenance. Toutefois,
lorsque les conditions environ-
nementales peuvent avoir un
effet sur l’équipement (machine
endommagée, accident, etc.), il est
recommandé de procéder à une
inspection visuelle.
L’équipement ne peut pas être
réparé par l’utilisateur et doit
être remplacé par un équipement
identique.
