SECTION 1 – SAFETY PRECAUTIONS –
READ BEFORE USING
Protect yourself and others from injury—read, follow, and save these important safety
precautions and operating instructions.
1-1. Symbol Usage
DANGER! – Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death
or serious injury. The possible hazards are shown in the adjoining symbols or ex-
plained in the text.

ous injury. The possible hazards are shown in the adjoining symbols or explained in
the text.
NOTICE – Indicates statements not related to personal injury.

This group of symbols means Warning! Watch Out! ELECTRIC SHOCK, MOVING PARTS, and
HOT PARTS hazards. Consult symbols and related instructions below for necessary actions to
avoid these hazards.
1-2. Hazards
The symbols shown below are used throughout this manual to call attention to and
identify possible hazards. When you see the symbol, watch out, and follow the related
instructions to avoid the hazard. The safety information given below is only a sum-
mary of the more complete safety information found in the Principal Safety Standards
listed in Section 1-5. Read and follow all Safety Standards.
Only qualified persons should install, operate, maintain, and repair this equipment. A
qualified person is defined as one who, by possession of a recognized degree, certifi-
cate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training and experi-
ence, has successfully demonstrated the ability to solve or resolve problems relating
to the subject matter, the work, or the project and has received safety training to rec-
ognize and avoid the hazards involved.
During operation, keep everybody, especially children, away.
NOISE can damage hearing.
Noise from some processes or equipment can damage hearing.
lWear approved ear protection if noise level is high.
READ INSTRUCTIONS.
lRead and follow all labels and the Owner’s Manual carefully before installing,
operating, or servicing unit. Read the safety information at the beginning of the
manual and in each section.
lUse only genuine replacement parts from the manufacturer.
lPerform installation, maintenance, and service according to the Owner’s Manuals, industry
standards, and national, state, and local codes.

FACE SHIELDS do not provide unlimited eye, ear, and
face protection.
lUse face shield only for protection from specific welding/cutting hazards listed
in Section 1-4, and for protection from low impact hazards associated with
chipping, grinding, wire-brushing, and similar activities.
lThis face shield meets the requirements of ANSI Z87.1+ and CSA Z94.3 The polycarbonate
lenses are not unbreakable and do not provide unlimited protection.
lUse the correct lens for the application.
lUse impact resistant safety spectacles or goggles and ear protection at all times when using
this face shield.
lAlways keep lens in down position when using face shield.
lDo not use this face shield while working with or around explosives or corrosive liquids.
lInspect the face shield frequently. Clean lens if dirty. Immediately replace scratched, cracked,
or pitted lenses.
lLens and retention components must be installed as instructed in this manual to ensure com-
pliance with ANSI Z87.1+ protection standards.
lDo not use the face shield until you have been trained in its proper operation by a qualified
person.
lDo not enter a hazardous area until you are sure the face shield is assembled correctly, work-
ing properly, and worn properly.
lBefore each use, inspect the face shield for damage and verify it operates properly. Clean and
maintain face shield according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
lDo not use face shield with parts or accessories not supplied by the manufacturer.
lFace shield is not to be used as sole protection from hazardous liquids and gases, explosions,
lasers, welding, brazing, cutting, grinding, and similar activities. These operations can require
additional safety equipment.
lBe sure face shield is compatible with respirators and other personal protective equipment.
lDo not use tinted lenses where color perception is important, such as near traffic signals, visu-
al displays, when making electrical connections, etc.
lDo not use face shield for protection during athletic and recreational activities.
lWear body protection made from durable, flame-resistant material (leather, heavy cotton,
wool). Body protection includes oil-free clothing such as leather gloves, heavy shirt, cuffless
trousers, high shoes, and a cap.
lBefore selecting and using face shield, have your safety director or an industrial hygienist as-
sess the work area to determine if this product complies with applicable health and safety

FLYING METAL OR DIRT can injure eyes.
lWelding, chipping, wire brushing, and grinding cause sparks and flying metal.
As welds cool, they can throw off slag.
lWear approved safety glasses with side shields even under your face shield.

SECTION 3 – OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

There are four headgear adjustments:
headgear top, tightness, angle, and
distance.
1 Headgear Top
Adjusts headgear for proper depth on the
head to ensure correct balance and stability.
2 Headgear Tightness
To adjust tightness, push in adjustment knob
and turn left or right to desired tightness.
3 Angle Adjustment
Notches on the right side of the headband
provide adjustment for the backward or for-
ward tilt of the face shield. To adjust, loosen
the headgear tension knob and push the top
end of the control arm outward until the
arm’s stop tab clears the notches. Rotate
the control arm backward or forward to the
desired angle position.
4 Distance Adjustment
Adjusts the distance between the face and
the lens. To adjust, loosen both tension
knobs and slide headgear forward or back-
ward to desired position. Tighten knobs.

Both sides must be equally positioned
for proper operation.
5 Headgear Cushion
The cushion disperses the weight of the
headgear on the head and helps prevent the
face shield from slipping when the lens is
raised and lowered.

Step 1. Align grooves on each side of lens
with corresponding lens holders on shell.
Step 2. Push lens toward shell until grooves
lock into position on lens holders.
Step 3. Push lens tabs (on top of lens) into
latches on shell.

Step 1. Hold face shield with the shell down.
Step 2. Use thumb to push on lens tab while
pulling on latch with index finger. Repeat this
procedure on both tabs/latches until lens is
released from latches.
Step 3. Carefully pull lens from shell.

Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning detergents to clean the face shield. Do not im-
merse the face shield in water.

Keep face shield away from fire and other sources of heat.

Do not drop face shield or handle it in a rough manner.
The face shield requires little maintenance. However, for best performance clean face shield
after each use. Using a soft cloth dampened with a mild soap and water solution, wipe the lens
clean. Allow to air dry.
Store face shield in a clean, dry, cool place free of solvent-based vapors and away from materi-
als that may scratch the lens.
End Of Useful Life
The face shield has no expiration date, and with proper care and maintenance it can provide
many years of eye and face protection. The face shield can continue to be used, provided that
the shell is undamaged (no cracks, gaps, or holes) and the lens is clean and free from
scratches and blemishes.
