The IntelliControl ICS Display Keypad is a wall mounted system
control keypad with LCD display. Eight backlit master keys
provide Niles exclusive “One Touch to Music”, which turns
the system on, selects a source and starts the music playing.
Additional backlit hard keys and soft keys provide complete
source and system control. The High Resolution LCD displays
metadata, setup menus and important system information from
IntelliControl ICS iPod®, XM®, Sirius®, AM/FM, and Legacy
Audio Modules.

Eight Customizable, Backlit Master Keys Provide
“One Touch to Music”
Each of the 8 Master Keys can be customized to identify the specific source
or music genre that will be selected when that button is pressed. The Mas-
ter Keys turn the zone on, select a source, and play your favorite channel or
music selection.
High Resolution LCD Display with LED Backlighting
The high-resolution LCD displays complete metadata from IntelliControl ICS
sources, zone and system status, “Soft Key” control functions, and system
setup menus.
Metadata, Preset Favorites and Menus
Metadata, (channel frequency, favorite channel lists, menus and guides) are
displayed as provided by IntelliControl ICS iPod, XM, SIRIUS and AM/FM
IntelliControl ICS Modules. IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver
system settings can be displayed for configuration of tone controls, clocks,
timers and other system functions.

Seven Backlit Hard Keys
These 7 backlit buttons provide convenient access to frequently used sys-
tem controls including: Off, Previous/Next, Volume Up/Down and Mute. The
Niles Logo Button provides access to system settings.
Three Soft Keys
These 3 buttons located directly under the LCD, provide a wide range of con-
trols that change with each selected source.
Cursor Navigation Keys
Up, Down, Left, Right and Select buttons allow navigation and selection of
options through menus, lists and guides.
Alphanumeric keys
Provide direct access tuning, numeric selection of track and alpha search
for media.

Convenient Backlighting for All Keys
Automatically illuminate when any button is pressed.
Party Mode
Party Mode turns on all your enabled “Party Zones,” with the push of a
button, from anywhere in your home. Press and hold a Master Key for two
seconds to turn on zones enabled for “Party Mode.”
Source/Zone ON Indicator
The Master Key for the source selected illuminates to indicate source selected
and zone on status.
Mute ON indicator
The Mute button illuminates red to indicate mute on. Red illumination turns
off when un-muted.
Zone OFF
Press the OFF key to turn off the zone you’re controlling.
Global OFF
Press and hold the OFF button for 2 seconds to turn off all zones from any-
where in the house.

Connects to the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver
via CAT-5
The IntelliControl ICS Display Keypad connects to the IntelliControl ICS
Modular MultiZone Receiver via a CAT-5 data cable terminated with
RJ-45 connectors.
External IR Sensor Input (RJ-45)
The RJ-45 jack allows connection of an external IR sensor to the keypad for
use of an IR remote in a zone or sub-zone.
Optional Display Color Faceplates
Faceplates are available in three designer colors: Black, Almond and Bone.











Locating the MAC ID
The Media Access Control Address (MAC ID), tells the IntelliControl ICS
Modular MultiZone Receiver which device, in this case a Display Keypad, is
sending commands. The IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver then
knows which zone to turn on, and which source to select for that zone.

Filling out the GXR2 Installation Worksheet
The GXR2 Installation Worksheet, included with the IntelliControl ICS Modu-
lar MultiZone Receiver (and available for download at www.nilesaudio.com),
provides spaces for placing the MAC ID stickers next to the name of the zone
they are located in. This is important information, used during setup. Take
special care in associating the correct MAC ID sticker with the right zone on
the worksheet. Two MAC ID stickers are found on the keypad. (Remove one
of these stickers and place it on the GXR2 installation worksheet next to the
name of the zone to which that keypad will be associated.)
DO NOT REMOVE BOTH STICKERS FROM THE KEYPAD. It may become
necessary to reference the keypad sticker for troubleshooting.

Installing the Master Key Labels
To install the Master Key labels (Figure 5):
1. Locate the Master Key keycaps (Keycaps DO NOT come installed for
the Display Keypad).
2. Place labels from the included label sheet inside the keycap.
3. Place the caps in the appropriate key locations (refer to the GXR2
Installation Worksheet to assure proper position.)

Wiring
IntelliControl ICS keypads connect to the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone
Receiver via CAT-5 cable. For the system to function properly all runs
of CAT-5 must be pulled in home-runs from the keypad locations to the
system head end where the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver
will be located.
Note: Keypads can be connected to any available switch location.
The runs of CAT-5 must be terminated with RJ-45 connectors using the T-568A
pinout configuration as shown in Figure 7.

Adding an IR Sensor
To add an IR sensor to a keypad, use the wiring diagrams and connector
detail that follow to adapt an RJ-45 connector from a keypad to the plug-in
wire terminals on the IR sensor.










Adding an IR Sensor (cont’d)
Using a properly configured CAT-5 cable, connect the IR Sensor terminal on
the keypad to the plug-in terminal on an IR Sensor as shown.
CAUTION: These connections are different than those used from the keypads
to the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver. Be sure to check wire
configuration and connections before powering up the system.










Using a New Construction Bracket:
(See Figure 12 on page 17.)
1. Connect a properly configured CAT-5 cable to the T568A system terminal
on the back of the keypad.
2. Install keypad to Display Keypad Mounting Bracket (IntelliControl ICS
Part #FG01192; not included) as shown.
3. Finish with appropriate color trim plate.
See “Accessories” in this guide for color options and part numbers.
