DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
1) WARNING: All air pressure in unit must be relieved prior
to disassembly of gripper.
2) During disassembly, be careful to avoid scratching bearing
or sealing areas.
3) Remove target pin from jaw (-CU sensor ready option only).
4) Standard units: Remove bore plug retainer, bore plug,
plug seal, & piston assembly fastener or piston & rod on
size 19.
5) Remove jaw cover assembly fasteners retaining jaw cover.
6) Move jaws to closed position and lift jaw cover, jaws, and
jaw driver from body of gripper.
7) Push rod through body to press out piston and piston seal.
Remove piston seal, taking care to avoid scratching sealing
surface of seal groove in piston.
8) Remove rod seal, note orientation of seal.
9) Clean and inspect all components. Worn or damaged
components should be replaced.
REASSEMBLY PROCEDURE
1) Be careful to avoid damaging seals during reassembly.
2) Lubrication guidelines (only use lubricants which are
compatible with pneumatic devices)
•Rod seal, rod, piston bore, bore plug seal, piston
and piston seal: petroleum-based lubricant/grease
•Jaw slot, jaws, jaw driver, and jaw cover: petroleum
based high pressure grease
3) Use removable threadlocker on all threaded fasteners.
4) Lubricate and install rod seal. See figure 2 for orientation.
5) Lubricate piston bore.
6) Lubricate jaw slot, jaws, jaw driver, and jaw cover where
jaws rub. See figure 1.

7) Replace and lubricate piston seal on one piece piston & rod.
Install piston & rod into bore. Thread at the end of rod
should be visible in jaw slot. See figure 3.
8) Apply small amount of liquid threadlocker to thread at
end of piston & rod.
9) Install jaw driver into one jaw. Place jaw and jaw driver into
a slot in jaw cover. Install remaining jaw into other slot in
cover. Note: Jaws may need to be angled when inserting
in cover slot.
10)Center jaw cover, jaws and jaw driver over jaw slot and place
in slot.
11)Torque one piece piston and rod into jaw driver per Table 1.
12)Apply removable threadlocker to jaw cover assembly
fasteners and install in body. Torque jaw cover assembly
fasteners per Table 1.
13)Lubricate and install bore plug seal on bore plug.
14)Install bore plug, see figure 2 for orientation. Verify proper
seating of bore plug.
15)Install bore plug retainer into body. Verify proper seating of
retaining ring.
16)-CU option. Apply removable threadlocker to target pin and
install through body into jaw. Torque target pin in jaw per
Table 1.

7) Install rod as shown in figure 2.
8) Assemble both jaws to jaw driver and move jaws to closed
position. Verify that counterbore in jaw driver is oriented to
accept rod when assembled. Note jaw orientation per figure
1, threaded hole on side of jaws should be towards bottom
of jaw slot.
9) Align jaw and driver assembly and slide down into jaw slot.
10)Lubricate jaw cover and install.
11)Apply removable threadlocker to jaw cover assembly
fasteners and install in body. Torque jaw cover assembly
fasteners per Table 1.
12)Replace and lubricate piston seal. Insert piston, with seal,
into body of gripper. See figure 2 for orientation.
13)Apply removable threadlocker to piston assembly fastener
and assemble through piston and rod into jaw driver. Torque
piston assembly fastener per Table 1.
14)Lubricate and install bore plug seal on size 28 & 32. See
figure 2 for orientation. Note: Plug seal may require
stretching prior to installation to allow proper assembly of
bore plug. Lubricate and install bore plug seal onto bore
plug on size 25.
15)Lubricate and install bore plug, see figure 2 for orientation.
Verify proper seating of bore plug. Install bore plug retainer
into body (sharp edges of retaining ring outward from body).
Verify proper seating of retaining ring.
16)-CU option. Apply removable threadlocker to target pin and
install through body into jaw. Torque target pin in jaw per
Table 1.
17)Apply removable threadlocker to bearing plugs on size 25.
Install bearing plugs in body. See figure 4 for orientation.
Apply air to unit and cycle at 30 psi [2.1 bar] while
tightening bearing plugs. Tighten plugs until unit stops
cycling, back-off screw until unit cycles freely.
