1. INTRODUCTION
PHILIPS
This probe is a 1 Ox attenuator probe with a total length of 150 em approx., designed for
oscilloscopes.
The probe is provided with a special BNC plug with built-in resistor for automatic range
indication to advances the V/DIV reading of the oscilloscope by lOx.
NOTE: This
provision is only possible in oscilloscopes equipped with probe
indication feature!
At
delivery the probe has been adjusted to an oscilloscope with an input
capacitance of 20 pF.

To
expose the h. I. adjustment control the terminating box cover can be slid off the
compensation box.

5. ADJUSTMENTS
Matching the probe to the oscilloscope :
Connect the probe to the CAL socket of the oscilloscope.
A trimmer can be adjusted for the 1.1. response through a hole in the compensation box
to obtain optimum square-wave response.
Adjusting the h. f. step response:
The h.f.
step response has been adjusted by the manufacturer to match the oscilloscope
input . For optimum pulse response, the probe can be adjusted to match your particular
oscilloscope . Connect the probe to a fast pulse generator (rise-time max /. 1 ns) which is
terminated by its characteristic impedance. The generator must have a 6 div / 1oo kHz
pulse. Adjust the adjusting element inside the compensation box to obta in optimum
square-wave response. It is important that the leading edge is as steep, and the top is as
flat, as possible .
