Important Regulatory and Safety Notices to Service
Personnel
Before using this product and any associated equipment, refer to the
“Important Safety Instructions” listed in the front of your Engineering
Manual to avoid personnel injury and to prevent product damage.
Product may require specific equipment, and/or installation procedures to be
carried out to satisfy certain regulatory compliance requirements. Notices have
been included in this publication to call attention to these specific requirements.
General Handling Guidelines
• Careful handling, using proper ESD precautions, must be observed.
• Power down the system before PCB removal.
ESD Susceptibility — Avoid handling the switcher circuit
boards in high static environments such as carpeted areas, and
when synthetic fiber clothing is worn. Touch the frame to
dissipate static charge before removing boards from the frame,
and exercise proper grounding precautions when working on
circuit boards.
Environmental Information
The equipment that you purchased required the extraction and use
of natural resources for its production. It may contain hazardous
substances that could impact health and the environment.
To avoid the potential release of those substances into the environment and to
diminish the need for the extraction of natural resources, Ross Video encourages
you to use the appropriate take-back systems. These systems will reuse or
recycle most of the materials from your end-of-life equipment in an
environmentally friendly and health conscious manner.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol invites you to use these systems.

The contents of a single Extended Tallies Upgrade kit is listed below. If any
items are missing, or damaged, contact Ross Video Technical Support.

Extended Tallies Installation
To install the new tally board, you must remove the blank plate from the slot
where you want to install the tally board, install the tally board, and then connect
the power and control cables.
The maximum parallel tallies supported by each control panel is as follows:
•Vision 1 — 36 maximum
•Vision 1M — 36, or 72
•Vision 2 — 36 maximum
•Vision 2M — 36, or 72
•Vision 3M — 36, 72, or 108
•Vision 2X — 36, 72, or 108
•Vision 3 — 36, 72, or 108
•Vision 4 — 36, 72, 108, or 144
Use the following procedure to install an additional Tally Board:
1. Power down the control panel. The frame can remain on during this
procedure. Refer to your Vision switcher documentation for
information on shutting down the control panel.
2. Unplug the Primary and Redundant (if installed) power from the
control panel.
3. Lift up on the control panel lid to gain access to the control panel tub.
4. Locate the slot where you want to install the additional Tally Board
into (Figure 1).

5. Remove the 4Retaining Screws from the blank plate where you want
to install the Tally Board and remove the blank plate from the slot.
Keep the Retaining Screws in a safe place as you will need them to
install the Tally Board.
6. Align the Tally Board with the Tally Ports out the hole in the back of
the control panel tub, and the 4Retaining Screw Holes with the
standoffs on the bottom of the tub (Figure 2).

7. Insert the 4Retaining Screws through the holes in the Tally Board
and into the standoffs (Figure 3).
Caution — Do not overtighten the Retaining Screws. These
screws only need to be snug in order to secure the Tally Board
in place.

8. Connect and secure one end of the Tally Interface Cable to the Tally
Board you are installing (Figure 4), and connect the other end to the
previous Tally Board already installed in the control panel.
9. Connect and secure one end of the Tally Power Cable to the Tally
Board you are installing (Figure 4), and connect the other end to the
previous Tally Board already installed in the control panel.

10. Close the control panel lid and reconnect the Main and Redundant (if
installed) power to the control panel.
11. Power up the control panel.
This completes the procedure for installing an additional Tally Board.

Extended Tallies Setup
With the additional Tally Boards installed, the corresponding tallies are
available for use. Each Tally Board provides 36 tallies as standard, with 18
tallies per port (Figure 5).
