I. Operation with 3 sec. motor running time mode
Note following at 3 sec. otor running ti e:
1. The 3 sec. otor running ti e ode is only in switch position 0 and 5 and at a constant
supply voltage on ter inals 1 and 2 which ust be in ini u for 1 inute applied
available.
2. The actuator opens at voltage on ter inal 3 (resp. closes), and closes at voltage on
ter inal 4 (resp. opens ) depending on ounting position of the actuator.
3. The ax. duty ratio is 10 % resp. 1 cycle / inute. Between two fully cycles to the sa e
direction there ust be a ini u inter ission of 1 inute. The actuator is blocked if
the break ti e is less than 1 inute. The release for the next cycle is ade auto atically
by an internal ti ing relay.
4. Sa e function is applied on spring return actuators. Faile safe operation is regarded
sa e as a otor running cycle.
5. If its tried to use the 1 wire On/Off ethode in switch position 0 and 5, software changes
the running ti e te porarily and auto atically to 15 sec. otor running ti e to protect
the actuator for overheating due to uncontrolled duty ratio.
6. The actuator ust be operated with an outside load of at least 3 N .
7. After installing the actuator to the da per/ar ature an auto atic align ent has to be
acco plished, in order to obtain a gentle blockade/stop. This function protects the
da per/ar ature by reducing the end positions/blockade speed in order to avoid
echanical overload. The actuator alignes specifically once with 30 Sec/90° onto each
position, recognizes the blockade position in order to reduce the otor perfor ance
during operation briefly before reaching the end /blockade position.
II. 3-pos operation
ExMax (RedMax) actuators are in the best way suitable for the 3-pos operation. To
protect such ele ents as gears and ounting ele ents against har ful influences like
ini u pulse ti e, ExMax (RedMax) actuators are protectet via internal electronics.
The internal electronic per its 20 i pulses with < 0.5 > sec. cyclic duration, afterwards
at least 1 i pulse > 1 sec. ust follow. If clocked with ore than 20 i pulses each <
1 sec. the actuator will adjust into a suspend ode. There after a reset is andadory
and will be achieved by briefly switching of the supply voltage for about 2 sec.. The
controll unit has to be para eterized in order to be set within the above entioned
duration li its.
III. Use at low ambient temparature below -2 °C
All ExMax (Red ax) actuators are equipped with a regulated integrated heating device
designed for e ploy ents down to -40°C a bient te perature.
The heater will be supplied auto atically by connecting the constant voltage supply on
the cla ps 1 and 2.
Following para eters are to be considered by a bient te peraure < 10°C:
1. After ounting the actuator ust bei i ediately electrically connected.
2. The actuator will only be activated after the operating te perature has reached at least
-20°C .
3. The adjust ent options are only ensured after this heating up period.
