cannot be used with the previous product SIMATIC MV325.
•SIMATIC MV326 does not offer a batch mode (buffering of data).
•The charging stations of the two products only work for the specific product.

The SIMATIC MV326 optical handheld reader is a sophisticated, powerful and versatile bar
code reader for manual operation. Typical areas of application: Health care, pharmacy, retail
trade and manufacturing.

2.1 Product package
The SIMATIC MV326 optical handheld reader (article number 6GF3326-0HT01) is supplied
with the following components:
•SIMATIC MV326 optical handheld reader
•Battery
•Charging station with USB interface and Bluetooth wireless interface
•USB connecting cable (standard USB ↔ micro USB)
2.2 Characteristics and areas of application
Due to the following characteristics, the optical handheld reader is also suitable for
demanding applications.
•The super fast and extremely durable device works with a high-performance scan engine
for recognition of all 1D and 2D barcodes, as well as barcodes of individual postal services.
•With its patented dual-field optics, both wide (≤ 40 cm) and very small (≥ 3 cm) barcodes
can be read.
•With the patented glare control technology, codes on shining surfaces can be reliably
detected.
•The long-life batteries of the device with their fast triggering mechanism measure the
battery charge level precisely and show the remaining lifetime of the battery in a 4 LED
level display at the press of a button.
•The charging station is available with an integrated Bluetooth modem.
•The housing, which is resistant to disinfectants and has degree of protection IP65,
prevents damage to plastic parts and protects the electronics and optics.

3.1 Inserting and removing the battery
Proceed as follows to insert the battery into the device:
1. Insert the battery on the back of the device. If the battery is inserted correctly, it locks in
place.
Proceed as follows to remove the battery:
1. Move the slider ①on the device.
Result: The battery is unlocked.
2. Remove the battery in the direction of the arrow ②.

Charge the batteries before turning on the device for the first time
In the delivery state, the batteries are approximately 50% charged. Fully charge the batteries
before turning on the device for the first time.
The charging time for a completely discharged battery with the charging station and the USB
cable is about 4 hours.

Proceed as follows to charge the reader:
1. Connect the USB cable of the charging station to the USB port of the computer.
2. Remove the protective foil on the reader window.
3. Place the device into the charging station ①.

Proceed as follows to switch on the device:
1. Press one of the buttons ①for 1 s.
Result: The optical handheld reader beeps, vibrates, and the LEDs are flashing when the
device is turned on and ready for operation.

Note
Using the SIMATIC
MV326 in an area with WLAN communication
When you use the SIMATIC MV326 in an area with WLAN communication, this may result in
interference. We, therefore, recommend that you select the 5
GHz frequency range for the
WLAN communication and take this into account in the radio field planning.
Making the connection to the base station
Follow the steps below for a Bluetooth connection from the charging station to the reader:
1. Scan in the QuickConnect code ①. The QuickConnect code is on the front of the charging
station.
Reaction: While the connection is being established, the green wireless symbol ②on the
charging station and the symbol for a wireless connection ③at the top of the optical
handheld reader are flashing.
As soon as the connection has been established, the green wireless symbols on the
charging station and on the reader ②/ ③are on permanently and the optical handheld
reader beeps once.

4.1 Aligning the SIMATIC MV326 optical handheld reader
Proceed as follows to align the reader:
1. Press a button or the trigger button of the optical handheld reader.
2. Keep pressing the button or trigger button.
The two blue beams sent out by the optical handheld reader are used for targeting.
3. The blue beams must be directed to the center of the barcode.
If the barcode is in the viewing field of the device and at the optimum read distance
(approximately 10 cm from the device), the barcode will be read automatically.
Result: The optical handheld reader beeps and vibrates and the read confirmation LED flashes
green.
