Note: This FAQ will be replaced with the
snom 200 manual shortly.
Getting the phone ready:
§ Put in the power cable and check the
network connections.
§ Switch on the power and get the latest
image.
§ Don’t turn off the power while the boot
loader or image is being updated and
the ash being erased or written.
§ On successful boot up the Linux OS
shall start and spawn a DHCP client
process which will accept an IP address
for the phone.
§ If the phone is brand new or not
registered the phone will show incorrect
time and date (01.01.1970).
§ Access the Functions menu by pressing
the F key or right arrow. Go to
conguration by soft key F3 and then
to ip by F2.
§ The IP address displayed should be
the valid IP address of the phone if
the DHCP is properly congured and in
proper working condition and if there
are no MAC address clashes.
Settings:
§ Type in that IP address in the web
browser to access the web interface
of your snom200. e.g. http://
192.168.194.253.
§ The web interface is similar to the one
with snom100. Set the sip lines in
Settings/sip/lines by giving the name,
number and proxy addresses.
§ Other settings can also be accessed
similarly.
§ Save the settings.
§ If proper values are set, the phone
will get itself registered and an R will
appear on upper right side on the rst
line.
§ The time and date will get corrected as
sent in by the proxy.
Operation and Salient Features:
§ Use the phone to dial E164 or
alphanumeric numbers.
§ While editing a number, the soft key F1
(123/URL) will toggle between the two
modes.
§ Number guessing is ON by default and
searches for the closest match for the
number being dialled from the dialled,
missed or received call records.
§ Speaker phone key can be used to
toggle the speaker phone ON/OFF
anytime during the call.
§ In idle state soft key F3 (lists) will
take the user to lists menu which has
three subsequent menus for dialled,
missed and received call records. They
can be accessed by F1, F2 and F3
respectively.
§ Soft key F1 (tbook) during the idle state
takes the user to telephone book and
displays the entries in it. New entries
can be made and records deleted by
pressing the respective soft keys and
following the simple steps.
§ Numbers can also be dialled from the
phone/dial menu from the web interface
of the phone and from all the call record
lists and tbook.
§ Volume can be changed during a call
be pressing the LEFT and RIGHT keys
next to OK button on the phone.
§ Settings e.g. handset volume, speaker
volume, contrast etc can be altered by
accessing the settings menu from the
Functions menu by pressing F key and
following the subsequent links.
§ A call can be blind transferred or
consultation transferred as desired by
the user by pressing soft key F3 on rst
incoming call or during a single or two
calls.
§ All the numbers being dialled and
transferred have number guessing ON
by default but as soon as a guessed

number is cleared by soft key clear or

particular dialling session is turned
OFF.
