Purpose of this manual This manual is the installation manual of the BKMA-7030 MPEG Decoder Board
and the BKMA-7060 D/A Converter Board.
This manual is intended for use by trained system and service engineers, and
describes the information regarding installation.

Explains the overview of the BKMA-7030/7060, how to install the BKMA-7030/
7060 to the MAV-70XGI, and the connector and cable information for peripheral
equipment connections, etc.

Explains the function and factory setting of the switches and LEDs on the board and
the specifications of the BKMA-7030/7060.

1-1. Overview
1-1-1. BKMA-7030
The BKMA-7030 MPEG Decoder Board inputs the playback data from the hard disk of MAV-70XGI and
decodes its data to the video/audio signals.
For video, the video signals are decoded with MPEG2 MP@ML or 4:2:2P@ML compressed video
format, and the two-channels SDI video signals and two-channels analog composite video signals (when
the BKMA-7060 is used) are output.
For audio, the audio signals are decoded into four-channels MPEG1 Layer 2 or Linear PCM compressed
audio format, and the SDI embedded audio signal, AES/EBU audio signal, and analog audio signal (when
the BKMA-7060 is used) are output.
The BKMA-7030 consists of the following components.

The BKMA-7060 D/A Converter Board is mounted on the BKMA-7030 MPEG Decoder Board.
When this board is mounted, the analog composite video signal and two-channels analog audio signals
can be output from the BKMA-7030.
The BKMA-7060 consists of the following components.

1-2. Board Installation
General information
.The BKMA-7030 can be inserted into any slot exept slot
No.6 of MAV-70XGI.
.Stick the slot label supplied with the BKMA-7030 onto
the connector panel after the board installation to prevent
the incorrect insertion when the board replacing.
.Do not open the slot to keep the air-cooled effect of
MAV-70XGI. Be sure to attach the blank panel to
vacant slot.
.It is not necessary to adjust after board installation/
replacement.
Procedures
1. Install the BKMA-7060 (DA-143 board) to the
BKMA-7030 (DEC-98A board) by the four screws
supplied with the BKMA-7060.

Perform this procedure when the BKMA-7060 is used.
2. Turn off the power switches A and B of the MAV-
70XGI.
3. Remove the two screws, and remove the blank panel
of any slot.

Keep the removed blank panel.

4. Insert the BKMA-7030 into the slot, and turn the board
levers in the direction of the arrow 1to connect the
board to the mother board securely.
5. Secure the BKMA-7030 with the two screws securing
the blank panel.
6. Stick the slot label supplied with the BKMA-7030
onto the connector panel.
The label’s number is the same as the slot number
which the board has inserted.

When removing the BKMA-7030, turn the board levers in
the direction of the arrow 2, and pull out the board
toward you.

1-3. Functions of Connectors
1SERIAL V/A OUTPUT (serial digital video/audio output) 1, 2 connectors : BNC type
Provides the serial digital interface signal (SDI).
The same signals are provided from 1 and 2 connectors.
2VIDEO OUTPUT (analog composite video output) 1, 2 connectors : BNC type
Provides the analog composite video signal when the BKMA-7060 is used.
The same signals are provided from 1 and 2 connectors.
3AUDIO OUTPUT AES/EBU (serial digital audio output) 1/2, 3/4 connectors : BNC type
Provides the serial digital audio signal (AES/EBU) CH-1/2 and CH-3/4.
4AUDIO OUTPUT (analog audio output) 1 connector : XLR type
Provides the analog audio signal CH-1 or CH-3 when the BKMA-7060 is used.
5AUDIO OUTPUT (analog audio output) 2 connector : XLR type
Provides the analog audio signal CH-2 or CH-4 when the BKMA-7060 is used.
1-4. Matching Connectors and Cables
When connecting cables to various connectors on the connector panel at the time of installing or servic-
ing, connect the following connectors/cable or their equivalent.
