This manual is intended for use by trained system and service engineers, and
describes the information regarding installation.

BKSM-R103
The BKSM-R103 is the board which converts the output data from the decoder board of the DSM-R1/D1
into analog composite video signal and analog audio signal, and outputs these converted signals.
In the BKSM-R103, the video data from the decoder board of the DSM-R1/D1 is decoded and converted
digital to analog, then output this converted signal as analog composite video signal.
Similarly, the audio data from the decoder board is converted digital to analog, then output this converted
signal as analog audio signal.
The BKSM-R103 can be installed in the following units.
.DSM-R1 Digital Satellite Demodulator
.DSM-D1 SDTI Demultiplexer
The BKSM-R103 consists of the following components.
.APR-31 board : 1 pc.
.ANALOG OUT rear panel assembly (with 3-pin XLR connectors) *1: 1 pc.
.ANALOG OUT rear panel assembly (with 5-pin XLR connectors) *1: 1 pc.
.Coaxial cable : 1 pc.
.Harness (with white connectors) : 1 pc.
.Harness (with red connectors) *2: 1 pc.
.Screw for board installing (PWH 3x6) : 4 pcs.
.Screw for rear panel installing (B 3x6) : 4 pcs.
*1: Use either of the two panels for your purpose.
.Rear panel with 3-pin XLR connectors : Enables 2-channel audio output.
.Rear panel with 5-pin XLR connectors : Enables 4-channel audio output.
*2: When the rear panel with 3-pin XLR connectors is used, this harness is not used.

To avoid shock hazard, be sure to turn the power of the
DSM-R1/D1 off and unplug the appliance from the outlet
before installing.
Installation position
The APR-31 board can be installed in either “1” (OUT 1)
side or “2” (OUT 2) side of the DSM-R1/D1.
The installation position of the ANALOG OUT rear panel
depends on the APR-31 board position.
When the APR-31 board is installed in “1” side, install the
ANALOG OUT rear panel to the “1” side.
Similarly, when the APR-31 board is installed in “2” side,
install the ANALOG OUT rear panel to the “2” side.

Preparations
(1) Turn the power of the DSM-R1/D1 off, then unplug
the appliance from the outlet.
(2) Remove the six screws, and remove the top panel from
the DSM-R1/D1.

1. Installation of Board
(1) Match the hole on the APR-31 board with the ejector
pin on the DEC board of the DSM-R1/D1.
(2) Connect the connector on the APR-31 board to the
connector on the DEC board.

Make sure that the connector is connected tightly.
(3) Secure the APR-31 board using the four screws (PWH
3x6) supplied with the BKSM-R103.
2. Installation of Rear Panel Assembly
(1) Remove the four screws, and remove the blank panel
from the DSM-R1/D1.

Keep the removed blank panel and screws.
(2) Secure the ANALOG OUT rear panel using the four
screws (B 3x6) supplied with the BKSM-R103.

The BKSM-R103 comes with the two varieties of the
ANALOG OUT rear panel assembly. Use either of the
two panels for your purpose.
.Rear panel with 3-pin XLR connectors :
Enables 2-channel audio output.
.Rear panel with 5-pin XLR connectors :
Enables 4-channel audio output.
