Safety Precautions
2.1 Safety Precautions
The following Safety Precautions must be observed when operating or servicing the equipment. WARNING indicates the
potential for personal injury and CAUTION indicates the potential for damage to equipment. For emphasis, certain Safety
Precautions are repeated throughout the manual. It is important to review ALL Safety Precautions before operating or
servicing the reprocessing sink.
Strictly following these Safety Precautions enhances the Customer’s ability to safely and effectively utilize the reprocessing sink
and helps avoid improper maintenance methods which may damage the reprocessing sink or render it unsafe. It is important to
understand that these Safety Precautions are not exhaustive; Customers are encouraged to develop their own safety policies and
procedures to enhance and complement these Safety Precautions.
WARNING-PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD:
Only STERIS or STERIS-trained service personnel may perform repairs and adjustments to this
equipment. Maintenance performed by inexperienced, unqualified personnel or installation of
unauthorized parts could cause personal injury, invalidate the warranty, or result in costly
equipment damage. Contact STERIS regarding service options.
Use only original parts when servicing the equipment. The safety, reliability, and function of
the AMSCO Reprocessing Sink are insured only if STERIS original parts and accessories (or
parts and accessories approved by STERIS) are used for service, repairs, and modifications to
this equipment. The replacement of spare parts must only be performed by STERIS or STERIS-
trained technicians.
Regular scheduled preventive maintenance is required for safe and reliable operation of this
equipment. Contact STERIS to schedule preventive maintenance.
Unplug unit when cleaning lifting columns or cleaning near controller.
CAUTION-POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD::
Do not operate height adjustment for more than rating of duty cycle. The maximum duty cycle
is 10% approximately 6 minutes per hour or 2 minutes at continuous use at full load. Use
beyond duty cycle can cause controller to overheat and shut down for 20 minutes.
Overloading controller more often than recommended can damage controller.
Ensure there are no obstructions that will interfere with the sink's range of motion while
operating the lifting legs.
