Preventive Maintenance Kit 2270105
3110 Series Water Jacket CO2Incubator
(Models 3110, 3111, 3120, and 3121)
Included in this kit (1 each unless specified):

Caution These procedures should only be performed by qualified
personnel. ▲
Caution Turn unit off and disconnect it from power before beginning any
maintenance or service procedures. ▲
Note There are two blower scroll configurations available in some
instances. Follow the instructions pertaining to your configuration. ▲

Note There are several parts included in the kit that will not be used in this
application. ▲
1. Locate and remove the access port stopper (Figure 1). Discard.
2. Unfasten the temperature sensor from the clip on the top duct. See
Figure 2. If the unit is equipped with the optional RH sensor, unfasten
it from its clip also.
3. Remove the HEPA filter by pulling it straight down. Discard the filter.
4. Remove the wingnuts securing the top duct to the chamber ceiling.
Carefully slide the duct down and off the temperature sensor (and RH
sensor, if applicable).
5. Remove the air sample
filter and tubing, and
discard. See Figure 3.
6. Remove the blower scroll
secured by four screws.
Retain the scroll and
screws.

7. Pull down firmly to remove the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
Discard the blower wheel. Slide the new blower wheel with the round
hole up the motor shaft until the wheel is against the shoulder of the
shaft. Make sure the wheel turns freely.
8. Install the scroll using the four screws retained from Step 6.
9. Replace the blower plate gasket by first removing the five wingnuts and
one hex nut. Then disengage the blower plate from the chamber
ceiling. There may be suction build-up on the plate gasket. Remove the
blower plate gasket and install the new one from the kit.
Note Support the blower plate. Do not allow it to hang from the wiring,
especially the temperature sensor. ▲
10. Install the blower plate. When aligning the mounting holes, all wiring
and tubing must be pushed up into the hole behind the plate to
prevent them from becoming cut or pinched. Install the wingnuts and
the hex nut to secure.
11. Install the new air sample filter and tubing onto the fitting located on
the blower plate. See Figure 3.
12. Check the color of the CO2sensor. If it is brass-colored, it is a T/C
sensor. If it is white-colored, it is an I/R sensor.
• To replace a T/C sensor gasket, first remove the 2 wingnuts and
pull the sensor down. Then pull up on the brown connector to
unplug the sensor. Remove the gasket and install the new one. Be
sure to use the correct gasket from the kit by matching the center
hole diameter. Reconnect the T/C sensor. Note: The brown
connector is keyed. Secure the CO2 sensor with the 2 wingnuts.
• To replace an I/R sensor gasket, first remove the 2 wingnuts and
pull the sensor down. Then disconnect the 2 latches and pull the
sensor off the connector. Remove the gasket and install the new
one. Be sure to use the correct gasket from the kit by matching the
center hole diameter. Reconnect the I/R sensor. Note that the
connection is polarized. Secure the I/R sensor with the 2 wingnuts.

13. Replace the grommets in the top duct with new ones provided in the
kit.
14. Install the top duct by feeding the temperature sensor (and RH sensor,
if applicable) through the appropriate grommet in the top duct as it is
raised to the chamber ceiling. Be careful not to pull the grommet itself
through the duct. Locate the mounting studs, blower scroll and air
sample filter into the appropriate holes in the duct. Install the wingnuts
to secure the duct (Figure 4).
15. Carefully pull the temperature sensor (and RH sensor, if applicable)
down until it can be fastened into the corresponding clip(s) on the top
duct.
16. Install the new access port stopper.
17. Install the shelves and side duct sheets.
18. Install the new HEPA filter.
19. Plug the incubator in and turn the power switch on. Allow the unit to
run empty for 24 hours, then return to service.

1. Remove the shelves and side duct sheets from
the interior of the unit.
2. Remove and discard the access port stopper.
See Figure 5.
3. Unfasten the temperature sensor from the
clip on the top duct. If the unit is equipped
with the optional RH sensor, unfasten it from
its clip. See Figure 4.
4. Remove the HEPA filter by pulling down on it. Discard the filter.
5. Remove the wingnuts securing the top duct to the chamber ceiling.
Carefully slide the top duct down and off the temperature sensor (and
RH sensor, if applicable).
6. Remove and discard the air sample filter and tubing. See Figure 6.
7. Remove the blower scroll by first pushing the black lever closest to you
toward the scroll. Then turn the scroll to the right to disengage it from
the blower scroll plate. Some manipulation may be required as the
alignment holes are keyhole-shaped. See Figure 6. Retain the scroll.
8. Pull down firmly to remove the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
Discard the wheel.
9. Remove the blower scroll plate by first pushing the black lever clip
toward the chamber ceiling. Then turn the scroll plate to the left to
disengage it from the alignment keyholes. See Figure 6.

10. Remove and discard the small white Teflon washer from the motor
shaft.
11. Remove the 6 nuts from the blower plate. Disengage the plate from the
chamber ceiling. There may be suction build-up on the plate gasket.
Support the blower plate during this process. Do not allow it hang by
the wiring, especially the temperature sensor.
12. Remove the blower plate gasket and install the new one from the kit.
13. Reinstall the blower plate, securing it with the 6 nuts. When aligning
the mounting holes, all wiring and tubing must be pushed up into the
hole behind the plate to prevent them from being cut or pinched
(Figure 7).
14. Install the new white Teflon washer onto the motor shaft, halfway
between the motor shaft shoulder and the chamber ceiling.
15. Install the blower scroll plate by aligning it with the larger end of the
keyholes and turning it to the left to lock it on. Pull the black lever clip
down from the ceiling.
16. Install the new blower wheel with the round hole onto the motor shaft
until the wheel is against the shoulder of the shaft. Make sure the wheel
turns freely.
17. Insert the 3 plugs (2 smaller) into the appropriate holes in the blower
scroll.

18. Install the blower scroll over the blower wheel into the larger end of the
keyholes on the blower scroll plate. Turn the scroll to the right to lock
it on. Pull the black lever clip closest to you toward the front of the
unit. See Figure 6.
19. Install the new air sample filter and tubing onto the fitting located on
the blower plate. See Figure 6.
20. Check the color of the CO2sensor. If it is brass-colored, it is a T/C
sensor. If it is white-colored, it is an I/R sensor.

pull the sensor down. Then pull up on the brown connector to

pull the sensor down. Then disconnect the 2 latches and pull the
sensor off the connector. Remove the gasket and install the new
one. Be sure to use the correct gasket from the kit by matching the
center hole diameter. Reconnect the I/R sensor. Note that the
connection is polarized. Secure the CO2sensor with the 2
wingnuts.
21. Replace the grommets on the top duct with new ones included in this
kit.
22. Install the top duct by feeding the temperature sensor and air sample
filter (and RH sensor, if applicable) through the appropriate holes in
the top duct as it is raised to the chamber ceiling. Be careful not to pull
the grommets through the duct. Insert the left side of the top duct into
the left duct sheet opening. Locate the mounting studs, blower scroll
and air sample filter into their appropriate holes in the top duct. Secure
the top duct with the wingnuts. See Figure 4.
23. Carefully pull the temperature sensor (and RH sensor, if applicable)
down until it can be fastened into the corresponding clip(s) on the top
duct.

24. Install the new access port stopper.
25. Install the shelves and side duct sheets.
26. Install the new HEPA filter.
27. Plug the incubator in and turn on the power switch. Allow the
incubator to run empty for 24 hours and return it to service.

Note Several parts included in this kit are not used in this application. ▲
1. Remove the shelves and the side duct sheets from
the interior of the unit.
2. Remove and discard the access port filter
assembly. See Figure 9.
3. Remove the temperature sensors and the air
sample tubing from the back of the blower scroll.
See Figure 10.
4. Remove and discard the air sample filter assembly from the fitting on
the blower plate.
5. If the unit is equipped with the optional RH sensor, unfasten it from
the clip on the top duct. See Figure 10.
6. Remove the HEPA filter by pulling it downward. Discard the filter.
7. Remove the wingnuts securing the top duct to the chamber ceiling.
Slide the duct down and off the temperature sensors and air sample
filter tubing (and RH sensor, if applicable).
8. Remove the blower scroll by first pushing the black lever clip closest to
you toward the scroll. Then turn the blower scroll to the right to
disengage it from the blower scroll plate. Some manipulation may be
required as alignment holes are keyhole-shaped. See Figure 10.
9. Remove the remaining wingnut, then pull down to remove the blower
wheel from the motor shaft. Discard the blower wheel.

10. Remove the blower scroll plate by first pushing the black lever clip
farthest from you toward the chamber ceiling. Then turn the blower
scroll plate to the left to disengage it from the alignment keyholes
(Figure 11).
11. Remove and discard the white Teflon washer from the motor shaft.
12. Remove the 6 nuts from the blower and disengage the blower plate
from the top of the unit. There may be suction build-up on the blower
plate gasket. Support the blower plate during this process. Do not
allow it to hang from any wiring, especially the temperature sensor.
13. Remove the blower plate gasket and install the new one.
14. Re-install the blower plate, using the 6 nuts. When aligning with the
mounting holes, all wiring and tubing must be pushed up into the hole
behind the plate to prevent them from being cut or pinched.
15. Install the new white Teflon washer onto the motor shaft, halfway
between the shoulder on the motor shaft and the chamber ceiling.
16. Install the blower scroll plate by aligning it with the larger end of the
keyholes and turning it to the left to lock it on. Pull the black lever
clip farthest from you downward from the ceiling.
